  1. Help me compile the client!

Thanks Revi and Bluap. I'm trying to build and test the Client update test from Entropy's post: http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=54141. Radu said he wanted testers. There it says: 2. Get the file: http://www.eternal-l...te_191_test.zip These files don't seem to be the same as those downloaded in Bluap's instructions above. (I downloaded both to different directories) Following Bluap's instructions above, the compiler stops after the following: -------------------------------------------- zoot@Bollocks7:~/Downloads/el/elc/elc$ make -f Makefile.linux CC 2d_objects.o CC 3d_objects.o CC actor_scripts.o actor_scripts.c: In function ‘next_command’: actor_scripts.c:1641: warning: unused variable ‘rotation_angle’ CC actors.o CC alphamap.o CC asc.o CC astrology.o CC bbox_tree.o CC books.o CC buddy.o CC buffs.o CC bags.o CC cache.o CC cal.o CC calc.o CC chat.o CC cluster.o CC colors.o CC console.o CC consolewin.o CC counters.o CC cursors.o CC dds.o CC ddsimage.o CC dialogues.o CC draw_scene.o CC eye_candy_debugwin.o CC elconfig.o elconfig.c: In function ‘init_vars’: elconfig.c:1701: error: ‘achievements_ctrl_click’ undeclared (first use in this function) elconfig.c:1701: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once elconfig.c:1701: error: for each function it appears in.) make: *** [elconfig.o] Error 1 --------------------------------- However, I notice Synaptic has an "eternallands-rc 1.9.1-0ubuntu client package". Is this what I am trying to build? Or would the build be even newer? (I know installing this will over-write the normal client, but I don't mind that) The latter would be easier than the make (for ignorant me). I have the .elc directory backed up. -- Zoot
  2. Help me compile the client!

Hi. I run Ubuntu 10.04 Sorry to ask a really dumb question, but I can't remember how to compile the client (or anything else). I once did it two years ago to help debug something, but I can't find the thread. I used to be a programmer, but it's a long time ago now. So, anyone care to give me the compilation command please. --Zoot
  3. New critical damage

Was on the test server for a couple of hours this afternoon. My a/d on the test server is 123/125 First hour on armed orcs, lost 200 hp over that time. killed 152. Second hour on DCW, normal damage I thought. killed 44. No kit (augs) lost. Sorry, I can't do a longer test. -- Zoot
  4. New critical damage

What I did not like about the critical damage adjustment is that it was not mentioned on the server update web page. The update had a major effect on people's pocket. The achievements system was mentioned but in reality affects no one, except maybe in pride. Could we have future changes to the critical damage system (or other fighting/harv'ing/mixing/etc systems) notified on the server update page so that people can be aware of something changing and make adjustments. Then they could start making notes of how it is affecting them and reporting back on the effectiveness of the change. -- Zoot
  5. New critical damage

I trained for 9 hours yesterday (Sunday) on DCW in aug torso and pants, COL, steel shield. No weapon. I had no breaks. -- Zoot
  6. Extra critical chance

I may not understand this completely. As I see it both combatants take crits to stop this afk training. So, those that don't afk train will die faster and have their mob die faster too. So, more HE/SRs expense for the trainer and less xp per hour. Not a great idea to me. Why not have the combat level the mob ignores at more dependent on def level or def difference. As the problem is the def level of the afker doesn't allow the mob to hit often enough. I already have to do a ridiculous "flee" every 50 hp to the mob, I don't want to suffer more. -- Zoot

  8. New tutorial on test server, need some testing

I liked the tutorial. The flags on the map in the early stages was nice. A more complete intro than the present one (not surprising as it was written a while ago). I mean the intro to the daily and alc quests. -- Zoot
  9. New tutorial on test server, need some testing

So far so good. I thought the sulphur was slow and if you didn't increase your emu, you'd be travelling back and forth. Maybe do the "Increase attributes quest" part before the sulphur. -- Zoot
  10. Depletable resources and multiplaying

Hi Folks, I'm a little guy, being playing about 3 months. I don't like this idea of depletable resources. Traipsing around looking for a plant that works. It takes long enough to do things in EL as it is. The info about what works where, would become a sellable resource in itself. Walking half way across a continent to find your bag exposition has been curtailed? I can't use the portals room and go to or from? I can't afford the rings either. I don't have alts and don't want. Takes me long enough developing my character. I suppose I could set a load up running at 1 frame per second and have them sat at a favourable resource. Not to harvest, but to tell me if the resource is available. I can see the moderators have a problem, but I don't like this solution. -- ZootNerper
  11. Ubuntu Magic leveling up crash

Hi Folks, I run Ubuntu Intrepid Ibix 8.10 with all the latest updates. The version of EL I don't know. It's from Launchpad pjbroad. Whenever I level up in magic the program crashes. The firework effects might just start when, crash. Happens every time. Luckily it remembers I've leveled up. I think that's all I need say. -- Zoot
  12. Ubuntu Magic leveling up crash

Hi Folks, Sorry for the delay. I followed your instructions Bluap (thanks) and found the level up tab and ran the magic one many times with no crash. I tried all the others for good measure and still no crash. What to do next? I guess it's not the effects that are causing the crash. Or maybe i was just unlucky with the particles passing through the centre of whatever -- ZootNerper
  13. Ubuntu Magic leveling up crash

Hi, Sorry Florian, I don't know how to do a backtrace from gdb. If you point in the direction of a guide I maybe able to help. (I don't even know what gdb is, sorry) I haven't done any leveling with tailoring, ranging or summoning. All the others lvl up no problems. Programming - it's all a long time ago for me. :} -- ZootNerper
  14. Ubuntu Magic leveling up crash

Hi, Sorry, I wasn't thinking. Ubuntu is the 64bit version. The input from the command #glinfo Video card: GeForce 8600 GT/PCI/SSE2 Vendor ID: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL Version: 2.1.2 NVIDIA 180.11 I used to program many years ago, but haven't done any in a while. If you want that debug back trace, could you point me towards some instructions which I can follow (at least for the compiling). The back trace...I won't know the debugger, but if it's easy, I'll give it a go. Nice to neet you -- ZootNerper
