  1. Ok, here the idea (and yes, i searched the forum before, +job +system).

Sometime (very often indeed) it happen that a player need gc. Ok, one can begin harvest/manufacture random items and sell to bot, but i don't really like it. It would be nice to have a job diary and a series of NPC offering random tasks, like "bring me 200 wolf furs" or "bring me 100 silver ore" and a quotation higher than normal, is a job after all, you ask them for a purpose and i must spend my time on it. I think it wouldn't be so hard to implement it, the server know the stats of a player and it gives task according to the skill/knowledge level. The skill is random, like "harvesting" -> level 38 -> knowledge: sapphire mining -> EMU capacity 300 -> bring me 900 sapphire i'll give you xgc*900. Or "alchemy" -> level 20 -> bring me 400 Earth Essence, i'll pay xgc*400.

This way also allow a player to focus on different skills (they are random, remember?), and then they have gc.

    Ok, that's all :icon13:

  2. I'm pretty new in this game, but i think that when one try to make an item and fail, it should earn some experience, like 1/10 the full experience for the item.

Obviously the experience is given only if the player have the reccomended skill level for the object like the Encyclopedia say. Without this condition a lot a low skilled people should try and try and try to make top skill object to boost the skill advancement, and this would be bad.

Anyway, in real life if i do something wrong i learn at least that the way i try to do a thing wasn't right, so i made experience. It would be wise to introduce the same concept in the game when making items.

    Salutations,

    M.

  3. Hi all,

i just changed my pc. So i reinstalled my OS and EL as well. I started the game and CPU goes at 100% in no time. Not 99%, 100%, causing "jump" when walking.

My hardware is made of: Intel Core2 Duo 5200, 2x2,5Ghz core, 2 x 1GB ram / total 2GB, GPU NVidia GT8600 DDr3 512 MB, Sata HDD 320GB. Now, the first core get to 100% causing slow down in the game. I'm running with no shadow, no reflexes, no animations etc.... so why the cpu go to 100%. With old pc it goes at 99% without causing slowdown. I'm confused.

  4. I'm pretty new with this game, anyway i noticed a couple of things that could be improved.

    The first one:

when you wear an armor piece, if you try to move it (the same piece, the one you are weilding/wearing) into another equipped things slot it say "You already have a similar item". It should be pretty easy to modify that issue.

    The second one:

God's tasks. You go to the temple, you ask for an advancement and the NPC tell you what to do. Then you go outside the temple, you do other things... then.. have a look at the temple task... and it is written nowhere. So i need to take notes every time i get a new task....

Ok, it would be nice to have a new tab in the stats window, with GOD. In this tab it would be nice to see god's you are worship in green, worship level, available gods in blue and opposite gods in red. Also, clicking on the god you are worship, the task to do. Is this hard to do? Or unuseful?

    Let me know.

    Salutations :(

  5. I still have the old pc (the new parts should arrive within 2 days, then i'll have to assembly the pieces and install debian, compile kernel etc) and the problem does not occour.

I noticed that the freeze only happen when i'm reading book! So it is possible that the knowledge algorithm take huge amount of resource or... i don't know. But the problem is surely related to book reading, in fact the first days, before i start to earn knowledge the problem didn't happen, and now that i'm not reading books the games don't freeze anymore.

So, developers, maybe it's just my pc fault, but it should be nice to double check the knowledge system in order to find something weird that can freeze pc. I'll check the source code too... i'm not SO skilled, but i could be able to see if something could be "dangerous".

  6. Do you ever get such freeze, while NOT running EL? If you do, then certainly problem is with driver, and if you are using

latest available driver, then try to downgrade it (that freezing problem was caused only by couple of versions).

If it is only EL, that causes this freeze, then, really try to recompile it yourself.

And another question: when you compile kernel module for your nvidia driver, do you use exactly same version of

    compiler as for your kernel?

The problem only occour when running EL. On the other hand is true that i don't use other 3d accelerated programs, so the problem could be my hardware.

The kernel module was built with the same gcc version. I will try to compile the source code by myself, but i decided to change my PC as it is getting old, and it is best to sell it when it still have a chance to be sold. I will change all the hardware within this week (if all goes fine). In the meanwhile i will play with freezes :)

  7. Yeah, could be.. Try to update the video drivers.

The drivers that i use are the latest. 96.43.07. The other drivers does not support my graphic card.

Today i had 3 freeze. I tried to use the client without any other applications running (browser, email client etc), it still freeze the system.

I tried to open a shell and launch the client, when it crash it still freeze the system.

Trying to launch without starting X.. ehr... doesn't work :P

I can't log in my pc from a different one as i only have this machine at home.. so the ssh way to log in the pc and kill the process is not available.

Any other ideas? (i tried to upgrade the kernel to the latest version, 2.6.27.2, but the graphic closed source driver won't install, just reported to the manufacturer producer)

  8. Hi, i'm really new on EL, i just downloaded the client a few days ago.

I'm a Debian user, my system use to be very healty (i had an uptime of 70 days the last day) but since i installed the client it freeze the pc (the client).

I tried both the official release downloaded from the site page and the cvs version (from .deb package). The problem still stay. During this day my system froze 4 times, and when i say it freeze i mean no alt-ctrl-del combination allowed to kill X, i must press the reset button on the case. And this is not funny if you consider the previous uptime. Shutting down and restart the machine 4 time in a day is not regular at all on a Debian system.

I didn't found any useful log nor noticed a series of specific events that makes the client crash.

One time it froze during a change of hour (it was like 0.59), last time after i recover 1 hit point, other time when i didn't absolutely nothing at all.

Here some specification of the system:

Debian Sid, kernel 2.6.22.1, nvidia official driver (legacy) 96.43.07, Xorg 1.4.2. My GPU is an NVIDIA Geforce 4 MMX 400. The system is 32 bit based (a Sempron 2800+) and the client as well. I'm running Gnome as DE. What else? Oh, ok, i'm running the guy in the poor_man settings, so no effects at all, no water, no sky, etc. And no music as well. It wouldn't be a problem if the client go in crash, the problem is that the crash freeze my system, and this is not good at all. Should i install a virtual machine and run the game from it to avoid the system freeze?

I'm the only one with this issue?

    Thank you in advance :P
