  1. Well, let's just verify that your computer is unable to connect to the game server for starters, outside of the EL client. Borrowing from another post here...

    • You might be unable to reach the game host due to some sort of firewall of misrouting. Open a command window (cmd.exe or a Shell window on Linux or whatever), and try: ping game.eternal-lands.com (if you get a response, you can reach the machine where the EL server is running)
    • It might be a port-related problem; for example, some provider allows access only to web sites (port 80 through HTTP), mail server, and such. To test that, try: telnet game.eternal-lands.com 2000 (if you get some text, then you can actually connect the EL server)

These are the first tests; if you could please try them and post here what output you get, if any, for each test, we might be able to diagnose further.

Also, to try and identify what, if any, additional firewall software you have installed and running, you can hover your mouse over the icons in the system tray (near the clock in the bottom right) and make note of the names of applications that are running. You can also browse your start menu to see what might be installed.

  2. To my knowledge, AVG does not block outgoing connections. If you're running something like ZoneAlarm or Norton Internet Security, you might have to authorize every application that tries to access the internet. Any idea what firewall software you are running?

  3. Rather than replace the harvester medallion, why not purchase a reasonably priced shop item that acts like a saving stone of sorts for the existing medallion - e.g. it poofs instead of your medallion. That could generate recurring revenue for the shop and support the game, it addresses the issue of confusion over similar items (or scamming) and still allows for demand for crafted medallions.

  4. The game is beta so we are all inherently testers, no? Comparing a single server side developer deploying features in a beta game/product to a production development environment with QA/test staff is silly, but do go on, please.

  5. Imho, i would always go to the school on day of schools...

100% agree with this. Even if you don't burn all your helm ings, it's pretty hard to resist triple xp for at least some of them on schools day. I try to keep a few in stock for just such an occasion.

  6. I think it's the other way around, that plate mail would likely stop an arrow but chain mail would not. Even plate at close range would not stop cross bow bolts. It would probably depend on the arrow head. Also even if the chain mail stopped the arrow, there might be enough blunt force trauma to still break bones. Reality doesn't need to have any bearing on EL though. :pickaxe:

I like the idea of having some form of protection against rangers however, and the concept that you'd sacrifice protection from other attacks by wearing say chain mail or w/e to protect against range attacks.
