  1. Eternal-Lands first look

Honestly it was a little frustrating to watch simply from the standpoint that it seemed the reviewer had to keep talking shit the entire time he was exploring EL. He couldn't stop to read & understand what the Tutorial NPC had to say b/c he has an audience he has to entertain. In that sense I don't think it's a realistic first impression. Most anyone else has the time to stop & read. As far as players not wanting to read NPC dialog, that's fine - don't explore for NPCs or talk to NPCs. Use google or guild web sites or w/e other means to gain knowledge about the game once you have friends, but in any game that provides any semblance of a tutorial, there is some reading comprehension required and the newly updated tutorial in EL is pro.
  2. Gelatine Bones Perk

You take +5 damage any time you lose health to poison, harvesting events, combat, removing a col/mol/rdholam etc. Not a good perk for fighting or mixing with toadstools.
  3. the ugliest shitty mess I ever saw

So you don't like the game, don't play - pretty simple. Moderators do not ruin all the fun unless by fun you mean strong language flaming, harassment or abuse of other players, etc. We don't spend countless hours searching for these scenarios looking for the excitement of handing out punishment, it's a negative aspect of the job. I just want to play the damn game and have a good time with my friends, not spend all my time dealing with troublemakers. Illegal multiplay and automation are often detected or suspected by other players who play & enjoy the game and have no qualm with the rules who then report it. If you've spent any time on help channels, you'd realize the majority of a moderator's "job" is helping new players. Even the game creator, radu, who you clearly aim to discredit with your post, spends hours nearly every day welcoming and instructing new players in the game. I honestly don't see why it's so important to create these flame posts. There are countless games or w/e other things in my life that I decided weren't for me. I moved on and left them behind. I don't continue to begrudge them and find ways and outlets to spew my rhetoric about them.
  4. Morath

6 months doesn't seem like such a long time. In any event, I found it comical if nothing else as I do your inability to express yourself w/o name calling, flaming etc. Enjoy your new guildie.
  5. Morath

On one hand complaining about brod, being brod'ed and how brod has become a weapon of hate or retribution and on the other requesting to be brod tagged... to me that sounds like a desire for some attention. Honestly though, it doesn't matter.
  6. Morath

Nothing like a little controversy. Source for the quote from January
  7. Info about perk "ONE"

Once players find you have the perk, plan on buying the one removal from the shop or typing #reset twice. I don't think anyone who has the perk currently will be replying in this thread though it would be very funny if they did.
  8. Quest Storylines

There is a quest tab, click the View Stats button on your toolbar or hit Ctrl+A and click the Quest log tab. It may not be the sexiest quest tracking implementation in the history of role-playing games, but it's not bad considering it's maintained by members of the player base. It has some handy new features like filtering by NPC as well if you right-click to get the context menu.
  9. a few ideas

Think for a minute how much damage you would take at WS diamonds or coal with a large number of players harvesting and two or three of them having high harvest event astro. To some degree it would defeat the purpose of skeptic for some players.
  10. Game ethics

Creating such extreme examples doesn't make your argument any more compelling or intelligent. You can argue until you're blue in the face, no one no high level alchemist mixes FE or other low ess to level alchemy, no one trains in ridiculous ways or on mobs 50 a/d below them well below their a/d levels b/c it's fun & relaxing. So you have an opinion as you always do, great, that doesn't decrease the validity of other arguments stated here Most trainers don't get the absolute maximum, perfect oa/hr. The top clops, fluff, feros, fchim, yeti etc. spawns are multi. How many are there? So what do you think the trainers who continue to train even though they don't have the absolute perfect spawn are doing? Be realistic and give up this long effort of painting players who enjoy training as somehow less than everyone else. EDIT: left original w/ strike-out font
  11. Game ethics

That makes no sense nathan. As Korrode already pointed out, the xp/hr you'd get in the scenarios you suggest would be pointless. Whoever wanted to share the spawn and train every other one or train at the same time would get more xp and likely more drops training a lower level mob by themselves. Also as Korrode said, thank the gods the people who train to high levels mostly agree on spawn etiquette so this stuff is rarely an issue. The rest of EL can debate how to share spawns in such a manner. It's not even a community rule or game ethics issue w.r.t. spawns. High a/d players understand that spawns are limited and if you ever expect to have good training sessions, you have to afford the same luxury to other players. That's the only reason places like yeti spawns, the feros cave & rot fchim double even work at all.
  12. Thoughts on EL..

Switch to their forums too tho if you go, don't half ass it.
  13. The game doesn't start

That is a very old card, around 10 years or so I believe. I spent some time using google and found numerous complaints of slow performance in 3D games. I'm not sure there are DRI drivers for this card. I did find S3's legacy driver page, http://www.s3graphics.com/en/drivers/legac...re_archive.aspx - outside of making sure your drivers match up with what they have there, I'm not sure what else to suggest to get EL working on your hardware.
  14. @piper, I'm generally trying to state that whatever my chosen activity is, myself and others, invasions have interrupted us for a long time. I think a lot of fighters have trained in bethel considering the feros cave and the number of dchim spawns in game. And bethel invasions were way more frequent than thyra's semi-global/global invasions are now, tho radu has slowed down on them recently - they used to be daily or near daily. No one ever cared about bethel invasions interrupting players because we are fighters, like you said.
  15. We can? I've been training there since 98/100 a/d, no way I can handle hundreds of giants, yeti, cockatrice, nasparliu, bula, mare bula and now the casty of doom. I can range, sure, but I can't handle multi w/ those mobs on such a small map.
  16. Most tasks, you just may not be able to do your dailies within the original time frame you had planned. Bethel trainers have been bounced out quite regularly for a long time now, but tolerated it.
  17. The game doesn't start

It would appear you lack video drivers that support hardware acceleration; I would suggest you update them. There are some links to mfg. web sites on the EL download page, but with some more details about your OS & hardware we can probably provide some more guidance as well, if you need it.
  18. Thoughts on EL..

You're out of touch. I guess that might be partly because you're not an active player. The tutorial, for instance, has been completely redone. The majority of new players who have completed it and commented on it find it very helpful. It's not really even comparable to the old tutorial. I don't know how much easier it could get outside of automatically walking your character around for you and putting items in your storage magically, but maybe that's what you mean.
  19. views after 2 weeks of playing this game

Great feedback and glad you're enjoying the game. I'm sure many players will have replies to your comments, but here are a few of mine. You can use the eye cursor on the flags on the boats to see where they will take you. You can also see the flags for each map in the encyclopedia, Ctrl+E>Maps. Over time you will likely learn them all. If you're interested in suggestions or guides from players on the ways to level skills, you should take a look at the skills section of the forums. The biggest drain on your income in the game early on is often the requirement to read so many books so if you have no immediate need to spend your gold, it doesn't hurt to hoard it. Augmented leather armor should be great for quite some time and you can see the progression of armors in the encyclopedia. Some people also prefer chain mail early on - while augmented leather has better stats it also breaks easily as you probably know already. There is no rule that says you are required to stay with any guild you join though some may give you a bit of drama when you leave. Other than that it definitely wouldn't hurt to join a guild if for no other reason than to meet some more people in game. There are two types of invasions in the game. The first are scripted and have a chance to occur at every new hour in game. The scripted invasions are announced by GIWS, the Global Invasion Warning System and none of the variants that occur automatically are very good for new players. The other type of invasion are those run by an admin. You'll often see the blue message "Message from radu: ..." or "Message from Thyralax: ..." and those usually have capped maps, some of which are great for newer players. The capped maps are limited by attack & defense levels. For instance, Desert Pines might be 20 a/d, Morcraven Marsh might be 80 a/d and Portland might be 60 a/d. Wherever the average of your attack & defense falls would be the map you would fight on and face monsters you would have good odds of defeating, with some tactics and patience of course. You mentioned this to me in a private message and I understand you feel left out or that you missed out, but this was just one contest hosted by one player. There will be many more that you will be able to participate in. Yes, you're doing great. The ultimate metric is whether or not you're having fun, not how quickly you can gain rank in some skill or how perfect your build is though that's my personal opinion. You sound like you have a good attitude and understand that part of the game is the challenge of learning. I'm not trying to patronize you, but it is refreshing to read your feedback expressing things you've found frustrating & enjoyable all in the same reasonable tone.
  20. Disconect? sine Gametime 1:48:49

There's an IRC channel that usually has active users, at least a few of us idle there regularly.
  21. Monster Statistic Spell

Try asking on the help channels then. Plenty of other people can help you find what creature to train on vs. radu spending time developing something that would be useless to most players in the game, imo.
  22. Can't Download WTF?!?!

We have new players downloading the game and logging in every day so likely these unacceptable problems are specific to your environment. Once you can get the game downloaded and installed, we can address the lockup issue again. It's probably a video setting or maybe an old video driver causing the problem, but it's a little hard to troubleshoot w/o the game installed. With respect to the download, when you say "it" locks up, what is "it"? Your web browser? I assume you're clicking the download link in your browser to download the game. Edit: Corrected typo.
  23. Game Crashes on Startup (Mac)

If you can get to the login screen, click the Options button instead of logging in. Make sure "Use Animation Program" on the "Adv Video" tab is unchecked.
  24. I enabled the floating message session counters for Kills and really like it. I can enable and disable the floating messages just fine for Kills, but I've enabled them for spells, crafting and potions as well and selecting the option from the context menu won't toggle the selection back off. I also can't toggle the option unless I click on an entry in the counters that would normally activate the other options on the menu, e.g. Delete Entry and Reset Session Total.
  25. Auction Seridium Bar

NPC price is also 7k in case you were unaware.
