  1. Gold membership

I like the idea and I will probably buy one, just to support the game. However in my opinion it will not prevent gold farming and it will do little to reduce amount of gc's traded for $. As I said in ch 6 discussion yesterday the way to go is to actively manage shop prices to reflect current in-game economy state and adjust them when required. Current shop prices (after $/bought GC's conversion are as follows): - single rosto : 40 kgc - one rosto from 25 pack : 32 kgc - single enriched essence (except ele) : 16 kgc - one enriched essence out of pack of 6 : 13 kgc - binding stones - same as enriched essies It is clear that it is way cheaper to buy farmed gold and then buy these in game for gc's (unless you do not care really and treat shop purchases mostly as supporting the game and its developers). In my opinion first step to improve an income from the game would be to reduce shop prices to slightly above current in-game value, using rougly 7kgc/1$ exchange rate. I understand that it looks counterintuitive at the first glance that you would adjust the rate to the one farmers use, but I strongly believe this would be just first step - with correct shop prices a demand for gc purchases will largely drop, while you will start to sell more. As to sources of additional income we could have a few p2p instances, with "tickets" being sold only from shop. Obviously those who do not want/cannot buy these for $ could still buy them from another players for gc's. These could be also the case for some special maps not necessarily suited for fighters. Clothing is a great opportunity as others said already, but in general that would require one substantial change - clothes should be breakable! As my char has zero tailoring it is clear that I'd not benefit from that in any way. If you introduce custom clothes that never break, that would be very short term source of income. It would be way better to sell a bunch easy breakable clothes cheaper. New p2p races is also a great idea. I'd gladly buy some kind of elvish p2p race for my character. Well, that's about it for now, just my 2 gc's Edit:spelling
  2. Both marking awarded special days, invasions, events and contests (as much as possible) in the calendar, and also spreading these evenly across time zones have been suggested countless times in various forms, both in here and in channel 6. Thanks for posting though, as they say "gutta cavat lapidem ..."
  3. Mare Bulungiu

Is this babe still pinnable ?
  4. Easy cash!

I regret I was not online when this happened Therefore, my 10k offer for pulling out MB that I can range is still valid. To make it easier, it doesn't have to be in VoTD
  5. Ranged Kills

Didn't we say we are against that proposal ? Ya, my post wasn't about the proposal and whether or not you're for or against it, it's just a cheeky reply to your saying it's teh ebul fighters that steal bags, never fellow rangers. Well, many rangers these days have enough a/d to do it fighter's way when creature is about to die, or use invisibility, or use TTR on the bag - possibilities are there. Somehow it is not the case, so suggestion above wouldn't change much . Different standards I guess.
  6. Ranged Kills

You can accomplish the same with TTR spell. Ethereal Ranger perk does just that - gives you a chance not to lose an arrow you shoot, so it's like collecting the ones that left after shooting
  7. Ranged Kills

Didn't we say we are against that proposal ?
  8. fishing maybe?

Be careful what you ask for - knowing Radu, as soon as you start fishing you'll hook a water bulangiu ! Fishing is present in many mmorpg's and it is hard to come up with something new that was not already implemented elsewhere (like pulling MiB's, sea serpents, treasures, rings, magic fishes of various abilities etc). I'd say the way fishing could be introduced to EL is simply to allow use of harvest cursor on the fishing poles that exist in game already. In order to fish you would need to have bread in your inventory. For each "cast" one loaf would be consumed. ... that's poor man solution :-P For elite anglers, fly fishing would be better - each "cast" would consume one cocka feather and "the catch" would be substantially better
  9. Ranged Kills

That's usually a fighter-serper no a fellow ranger ... Seriously though, I have mixed feelings about this proposal. As it was stated numerous times in various discussions, during invasions a rule "first grab, first serve" applies. I've seen even most honorable players picking drops of creatures they haven't even touched, seeing nothing wrong with that, so all we can do is to follow the suit. To make things even more complicated - if a number of people work on same big monster, how to determine ownership of the bag? In some other games only the one who has dealt either the most damage (preferred) or delivered a final blow (questionable) is able to pick up a bag for some seconds, later a bag is accessible for everyone. I think we'll never see that in EL, so we have to rely on a common sense of those who shoot together, and I caan say that in majority of cases it works great. In training you do not have any guarantee as well to get anything from your kill since "no one owns a spawn" and some people will always find a nice excuses to justify stealing your creature or its db. Unlike melee spawn serping, serping ranger's spawn is not considered outlaw by many and happens every day. Too bad the serped ranger loses real gc's spent on arrows, on top of lost creature, drops and chance to get exp. So called "community" is very hypocritical here but I guess we have to live with that and keep suggesting to increase the number of places and creatures suitable for training of this skill at higher levels. Surely, as a ranger, I'd like to get a drop from a creature I have wasted my arrows on, but despite of all this I'm against this proposal. Teleporting you to the deathbag would be deadly during invasions, while teleporting db to you would allow standing in one safe place (like NC wall or WV bridge), shooting everything that moves and having drops delivered to your feet, which would be unfair advantage. As Bkc56 said, in order to be able to cllect drops, train smart - in less populated areas or at times when majority of players are busy elsewhere.
  10. Easy cash!

Additional 10k if I'll be able to range this babe
  11. Contest, prizes worth ~1MGC

    Grats bzzz, good job !
  12. Places to train?

It would be acceptable only if after a certain number of shots target becomes unusable and you have to choose another one elsewhere, otherwise that would be way too easy. One of the most severe obstacles in fast leveling of ranging is lack of targets (with sufficient HP) to shoot tonnes of arrows needed for the level. For this reason I'd be very cautious with using these.
  13. Events

First of all, big thanks Annatira for running contests, no matter what type. Whether it is pm type, or something more sophisticated, it is all good and greatly appreciated. However, it is so sad to hear that people complain about the winners. Instead of developing skills by themselves, by exploring and practicing, by taking part in various contests, they prefer to moan and complain. In effect interesting and challenging contests are transforming into trivial and efortless just to please the whinners. This is simply sick. It's not that contest type favors certain people, they are winning since they have worked hard to develop skills and knowledge that allows them to win. Making contests chance only is not making them fairer, it is making them newbiefied for those who have no work ethics to put some effort into skill and knowledge development but they have advanced to level 100 of complaining. It is a common disease these days unfortunately, not limited to EL but also present in our RL (I could go for a long rant so I'll better stop here). Winners take time to explore every map, try to know every secret, spend time after each update to familiarize with changes, have tools that allow them to move fast between locations, and are generally skilled to survive anywhere in EL world. Compare that to those who say in ch7 that they cba to move to another continent to participate .... Conclusion: NEVER complain about someone's skills that allow him/her to win. Skill is not given, like a price in a contest based on luck. Usually shitload of work and effort hides behind a skill. If you want to be a winner, work on the skill to surpass your competition. Apart from that, in all other topics raised here, I agree fully with Ayumu and Enly. Finally, if I can be of any help in preparing any contest, please let me know. I might try to hold some H&S contests soon as well, we'll see how it goes ....
  14. Awesome, very fast as far as I can see, thanks. What's the limit, this message: Error: You have created a lnkz within the last minute, please wait suggests that it is 1 minute, but apparently it takes longer than that to be allowed to create another one
  15. In the current client a player can set a color of messages only for buddies. In some cases though it would be very helpful to be able to temporarily distinguish one player' messages from all others. The best example is when a player runs a contest and his/her hints are hardly visible in channel spam. A command Change Color -> #cc <playername><color> (for instance #cc Cruella red) would set all text posted in channels by that particular player in a chosen color, on a client side, just for the player who used it. A command #uncc or similar (#cc <playername> default etc.) with would reset the setting. Comments welcome
  16. I have tried +change +text +color, found nothing related EDIT: Agreed, player name would be helpful and sufficient perhaps ...
  17. Events

First of all, I guess we are all missing our official Events Manager The true events are very rare these days. Sorry but sending a pm in a hope to win something is not an event really, it is a lottery. It takes 5 seconds to participate, and 5 seconds to check if you are the winner. True events, if they happen, they usually ignore existence of European players who make up over 40% of this community. 90% of events and invasions start when Europe sleeps or is at work, and if Europeans want an invasion they need to find a monsters hidden somewhere rofl That's not only discouraging but also causes imbalance in the game, at least imo. Both invasions as well as hb contests where new/valuable items are being introduced should be treated as resources and I believe an access to such should be equal for all players, no matter in which time zone they live. I understand that abilities to run events are limited and depend on Radu's / mod's time. However, recent situation is so different from what we had let's say a year ago, when contests and events were spread equally, that it is worth pointing out. People hardly participate in player run contests if prizes are not expensive enough. I have run a weekly H&S for a few weeks but I've stopped due to low number of participantsor lack of interest at all. Also a large contest our guild was holding was a failure - it was announced by the mod, then when it was half done, global invasion has started. On the next Saturday, when the contest was on again, we've suddenly got 2 hrs of Sun Tzu won, causing participants to run to the spawns lol. We have given up. The contest required 5 people to run chars hidden in various places, waiting for players visiting each of them, to get clues and finally to the main prize, we could not get people third time to lose 2 hrs on the weekend, sorry about that. We might have been very unlucky here but that's how it was and due to that we have never tried again. Spam in channels 6 and 7 might be an issue here as well, it has been way better when there was just one channel for events and invasions, and it was not a place for general chat (which has a separate channel anyway). For a player run contests, it is hard now to get attention on ch6, to get event participants to ch7, and finally keep giving hints and to answer contest questions in channel 7 in civilized manner, not being flooded with spam. Perhaps a client option everyone could set, to temporarily mark contest host's post in channel 7 with a different color would help participants to see hints better, avoiding constant question repetitions. I really miss large events organized by Kheres/Vanyel/Ayumu and Events Team. I hope one day we'll see another Board Game or Mortos Challenge.
  18. Manufacturing strike!

Agreed, that's why this perk is already considered "free pp's", why make it even "more free" ? Anyway, that's offtopic I guess.
  19. Manufacturing strike!

So-called rare drops add spice to the game and break training monotony, moreover some people hunt monsters just for drops (not for a sole purpose of rising a/d). As example I think no one would hunt pw's if they were not dropping s2e's. Removing rare drops and replacing them with just gc's would be a move in a bad direction. What could be done, and it has been suggested a number of times in the past, would be to replace current drops with items that cannot be made. There could be swords that cannot be produced by manufacturers, available only from drops, as well as swords that only manuers can make since none of the monsters drop them. Same for other types of items. As to books, a problem is that some creatures drop just one type, while they could have a long list from nearly worthless ones to rare. That would make training more interesting. Please remember that getting drops in a form of items affects those who have antisocial perk, so if item drops are to be converted to pure gc's, the number of pp's this perk gives should be reduced.
  20. Selling - Buying

I sell: - Dragon Blade : start price 68kgc , BIN 75 kgc - Book of Magic Sword : start price 30 kgc , BIN 50 kgc Please leave your bid here, auction ends 8 pm today (GMT). I buy Night Visors, pls let me know if you sell one.
  21. Selling - Buying

Both Dragon Blade and the book sold, still buying Night Visors
  22. How to enter the instance

Do not overdo that - more weapons = less emu left for supplies. Two weapons per head is just enough. And the second is just not because of particular weapon's qualities, but due to a risk that the only one could break. Keep things simple.
  23. How to enter the instance

One more thing - I'd say rostogols are obligatory, not optional. Each member of the team kicked out of the instance might mean that those who stay run out of supplies. Staying in the instance till the end is one of the most important things, so I'd recommend to take at least 2 rostos per person at least if you are instance beginner.
  24. Eternal Limericks!

It takes quite a bunch of good notion To add to the game a new potion Too bad - overkill and ruining one's skill You deal with mad players emotions
  25. How to enter the instance

I'd say: - take EMP's (at least some) instead of SR's - take few GHP's for emergency situations - thanks to that you'll avoid a need for a mule and have one more char to fight stuff - if you have 8 good fighters in a team, bow is useless (8 people around a mob will block line of fire for the ranger), if your team is less than nine, the weakest team member can range while the rest fight the mob - do nat drag useless stuff like me's for shield spell - have no fail restore before you even consider going there - line up the team with a+d as close to the upper instance limit as possible - since the weakest team members will be taking all the beating, if you are strong one - prepare to share supplies with them, if you are weak one - always know who in your team has still he's and sr's available for a fast trade - do not rush, take your time, stay together and diss when ganged - between waves stop, regroup, wait for a spawn, replenish mana, share supplies - share the loot nicely when done
