    Hi, I've downloaded and updated EL with the latest client. All works fine but sometimes the game crashes repeatedly.     very old laptop? it could be a hardware issue. have you ever played EL on this old laptop before? it would help if you could post the specs of this unit. also, was the log that you posted the latest log when the client crashed? Yes, the version 1.8 and all earlier ones since 2007 were not causing any issues. The current one works okay as well for the majority of time. Crash never happens if let's say I'm alone in a secluded cave and only harvesting. It is hard to notice exactly what causes a crash, but it looks like crashing when a bag (either a drop, or player made) appears nearby. I have made an experiment, and dropped something to create a bag - a bag is invisible and not accessible after closing its content window. I believe the key is a problem I have posted in the initial post, that is: [16:15:37] Can't load file "./3dobjects/bag1.e3d"! The log I've posted was the latest after the crash (copied immediately after crashing).     Did you mean the client released back in April or the new test version that has been available for a week or so? In my previous post I was assuming you mean the test version. The official version, downloaded from http://www.eternal-lands.com/el_190_install.exe I've tried to uninstall, delete folders (except the ones in My Documents, to keep old settings, counters, etc.), downloaded the package again, installed, same problem.

    Well, I was stupid enough to buy one and it has broken during the very first harving session, after getting about 200 of cotton (with exc cape). Absolutely not worth to buy, 6kgc went to the sink lol
  12. GC Buying & Selling

    It is very hard to cover such topic in a few words without writing Tirun-like essay, but I'll try to be very brief. Selling / buying gc's is neither good or bad. If the game is well balanced there is no need to do that "en masse", the phenomenon of gc sale has no major inpact on player's experience and does not bring the danger of hyperinflation and ruining the economy. Some quitters sell, some newbies buy, no harm to anyone. A problem arises when in order to have fun players are almost forced to buy gc's, otherwise they are stuck in grinding which is not fun in a long run. When gc's come easy you can accept grinding for exp, when exp comes easy you can grind for gc's. When you have to grind for both, you are tempted to make it easier and you buy a lot of gc's to improve "work/fun" ratio. This has nothing to do with game owner's income from the game, this is all about player's experience. As to the income - comparing to other games two major factors cause it is not as high as expected - too small player base (why, see above) and quite poor offer of p2p services and shop items. I know perfectly that it is not easy to expand p2p and shop offer (and with a pretty constant player base of roughly 300-400 players it doesn't make sense), but combatting decreasing income by reducing natural gold influx is like extinguishing fire with a means of gasoline, so I doubt it will work.

    I agree that waiting for such day to come randomly is not an option. I was using schools a lot on normal days, on Scholars, and I would use it as well on such day by all means. Due to the fact however that the chance for such day to come would be roughly somewhere between 1-4% (and additionally I have to obviously be online when it happens to take advantage of it), that would not make any substantial difference. Nice addition but in a long run with neiglible effect. I do not agree that it would have any negative effects as mentioned above, Paul explained nicely why.

    At 20 perception the difference in visibility between a person wearing this tunic and a person wearing harvester cape is none. I was able to see both from ~ 15 steps. I understand however that the main function of this tunic is to give a chance to shoot some arrows while remaining invisible. I assume all pkers carry ts pots or can cast that spell, don't know yet how useful it might be for hunting monsters ...

  18. I think there is no a single set of community rules everyone knows and obeys. A lot depends on who you meet during your first days in game, which guild you've joined, how were you "growing up" in EL. I was told from my first days to return all DB's if only possible, announce it in channels, sit it until cows go home etc. and I play by that rule. I've returned many DB's, and I have met a number of people who have returned my DB's to me, the biggest worth well over 700kgc. I have no hard feelings however if noone returns it. I realize what is a community rule for me does not necessarily be a the same for other players. That all applies to non-pk DB's (in my case then to all, since I do not pk). If I was into pk, I would neither hesitate to take DB of my "enemy" nor be mad when he took mine. My impression is that so called community rules have somewhat degraded over the last year. I do not agree community rules are too many, useless and ftl. In my opinion community rules and their practical applications were one of the things that was making EL that special place. Positive community rules are in my opinion slowly vanishing over time (I have my own theory as to why, but that would be long and boring off-topic, so I'd better stfu).
  19. GP Archery Range

    FYI, there is a problem with the archery range that Radu promised to fix in the next server update. Until then I'd recommend not to use it since you'll be missing more than intended and you will lose more arrows with no exp.

Well, look at it from game owner's perspective - let's say players want a new skill/feature that requires several man-hours of work of programmers (client and server side) as well as graphics designer. High price set would ensure that this is what players as a whole community really want, as well as that a compensation for a work done is decent. It would also cause that players do not request changes to be made too often - gathering large number of rostos would require work, time and dedication. On the oter hand, if 300 players support such change, it is just a bit over 3 rostos per head, that's what some lose in one invasion/pk session etc. Of course for a small change a cost could be way lower, depending on a workload. I suspect people would value such changes more, as well as have a true feeling they can influence the way the game develops. The only concern I have is that perhaps in order for this to work the current player base is too small and too diversified.

    Yeah....not being able to heal the person you last fought with would kinda hurt the idea of doing friendly pvp with someone who is actually paying attention. No one prevents you to go to a secluded pk map to train there, but ofc it is a matter of choice. Limiting pvp to pk areas would make a substantial change. On the other hand I understand that those who paid for guild maps deserve to get some benefits for the money spent, hard choice.

    very easy to bypass... Why don't just disable healing spells and pots in guild maps, it'd make a fine job. Great way to stop anyone and everyone from using guildmaps altogether. Oh sure.. i could still harv fruits in our guild's map then. Other than that, guildmaps will then be nothing but a total utter waste of serverspace. Ok, I know it is extreme proposal but is it better to allow EL afk pvp while playing another game, as it is being commonly done now? But, to be honest, I don't care. It's been here for long, let it continue if that pleases those who train that way.

    Keep Alt button pressed while ranging. Alternatively, manipulate your camera in such a way that incidental misclick hits unwalkable tile (air, water, rock, etc.).
  24. Well, firstly as Ent said many times, this is not a democracy. Secondly, even IF somethig similar would be in place, your price list is way too low. There is a number of players that could afford easily to pay for, let's say, several new monsters by themselves. Besides, quite a little benefit for the game developers. However, if "a currency" used were rostos from a shop ... who knows. Want a new monster/feature etc. - donate 1k rostos to a special npc.
