  1. New Changes - Do You Like Them

    i really don't like some of the changes made to the economy. There is a reson that people spend thair time makeing shields for turk, because it is a good way for people to make money. the manufactureing system is really bad untill you get to a high level, as you have to make thousands of reletively useless lether armour to start off with. you had to wait untill you got to lvl 14 untill you actually made anything with any real profits. iorn shields still take quite a long time to make and with no market for them anymore they will just rot in storage. now you have to strugle for even more levels untill you can make decent swards to be able to sell them at a resonable price. This update therfore hinders low level manufacturers by takeing away thair profits. I am luckey, i have a full sute of plate, and wepons, getting this with the old systems was hard enough, but now requireing another efe it will put it out of the reach of most players. why should this be so? shouldn't you be able to progress in the game? when changeing the economy, you need to consider that changes such as these don't usually effect moderators and developers that much, they mainly effect new to middle level players more. so be careful in considering the effects first.
  2. Testing New Formula

    ok, now harvesting tit ore is acceptable, it takes 4 seconds at lvl 54, which is an acceptable compromise. when testing mining gold ore it takes around 4 seconds also. finally vegegables take 1 second. I think this is good enough to be put on the main server, it might get a fiew complaints for being a little too much time, but overall it is an acceptable compromise in harvesting time. by the way, wich formula is it useing??

    quickley tested it, i started to get my harvesting level up by harvesting red snap dragons and it seems to be close to the old system. currently harvesting vegies at lvl 6. it takes about 40 seconds per vegtable which is quite resonable. could you give us testers increased levels so we can test the effects a little better on higher levels?

    Lyanna Unfortunately i disagree with point 1 and 3. if you reduce the supply of dimonds and try to stop mass crafting how do you therfore expect people to go above 60 though i still like your second point, there should be some difference between harvesting snap dragons and dimonds. i have a major disagreement on thair effect. if you look at my stats i am level 54 in harvesting, and hopefully wish to get to your suggested level of 60, but as you know it will take a lot of work to gain the experience required to get there and how do i do this now? why did you come up with 5 seconds??? and why should this be the same for everyone, isn't the whole point of haveing levels is to express how the better you are at something the better you can perform tasks.     If nothing was not really an acceptable option why was it listed! 35% voted for it! That could have changed the entire outcome of that pole! shure, ignore all the values that you don't agree with, that's accurate. If you look at the results, they are about even(depending on how you count the votes. with no clear winner. ie 56 for auto harvest and 50 against. so this can not be used as any proof of support. This poll also has verry little to actually do with the changes themselves. it just suggests that people feel that the idea is good in general. i personally don't care wether there is a server side harvester or a client based auto harvester (as autoclikers are officially legal). what most the people here complain about is the way this is introduced and the drematic effect that it has made to makeing the trade of mineing so difficult. if the reson for all modifications are to stop people from macroing, then why make it harder for everyone else and encorage people to break the rules and afk harvest. The basis for the economy is based on harvesting, as all items that can be made need harvested good as ingredients. so every little change to the harvesting system has a huge efect. i don't mind a little change, but changes should be far smaller, and be phased in over time instead. ps could the login message be changed, to announce updates???

    1. There was a poll at the top of this forum for several days. 2. All future updates are tested on the test server. Port 2001. i know there was The Poll which started with: it says nothing about actually imlimenting the new feature how it will be implemented and what does "Don't Click Teh B34rs, they will eat you" have to do with a new harvesting system???? I just suggest createing a new thread that has proposed changes to the economy, and clearly state it as Proposed changes with a clear to read heading for the topic, this would allow us to discuss the changes a little more clearly, with a lot more thaught so we don't get supprised by the updates.

    salem's formula is now much better, if i had paid more attention to maths i would have suggested it. i would not mind too much if it was rounded up (takeing 2 seconds to mine dimonds) if you really want to make it a little more dificult, you could multiply the time by a constant such as 1.5 to make it a little harder (but not too much) Harvesting interval (in seconds) = [[(Recommended level + 1) + (Player Harvest Level + 2)/2] / (Player's Harvest level +1)]* harvesting constant (eg 1.5) then round up to neerest.

    I think this formula is a good start, i feel that the time taken to harvest fruit, vegetables and flowers should start around 1 second as the beginning level, this would make things a lot fairer for noobies. i don't think this is too good, why should it take 10 seconds for somone with such a large harvesting level to harvest fruit? The system should end up somewhere like the old system, most people would still be happy if it only took an extra 2 minutes more to harvest than it used to, aslong as it doesn't take an extra hour like it does now. For the next update, could you post what you propose two days or more before you apply it, this would allow discussion and probly less flames, as it allows everyone to calmly discuss the situation, evaluate the inpact, and determine how it will effect the economy. how about testing updates on the testing server first, and tell us all to test it for you before you apply it, then we can discover the impacts before it is too late.

    I thaught i would add my points to the disucssion: The idea of harvesting automatically is resomably sound, but with the current system it is exttreemly flawed. it is not based on experience anymore, so it is far more apealing for a noob to harvest tit ore and dimonds than those of us who chose to go into this field. A solution to this is to index it with your levels like before, so those who focus in an area are and have verry high levels are not penalised, and everyone has a motive to increase in level. Harvesting is also way too slow, i feel that harvesting time should be based on a fixed value part the way up the system. for example makeing vegtables or fruit take a second, thus makeing flowers much easy to harvest, getting lots more each second. To achieve this increase in flower harvesting, it could be possible to be able to harvest more than the current ammount of flowers (ie get 4 or 5 snap dragons at a time) The previous economy worked well, efe's where extreeemly rare, and difficut to get, so it was a luxury to be able to get platemail. by makeing it harder you only hurt those who don't have platemail yet, not those who have it. if you look at the top 20 you can see that only 7 people have the recomended level to make iorn plate. I am luckey i have a full sute of plate, 2 serp swards and a tit long, so this will not effect me much, but it will seriously hinder most of my friends. These items are there because they are alredy hard to make and only avalable for those who have spent thair time working to get the money and/or ingredients together to make them. they are there to provide something to apire to and with the old system it still took time for the average user to get the item. for me it took a week worth of harvesting tit ore to get the money (32k and a fiew shields) aswell as constantly looking on the market chanel for people to buy them. this is not easy, and further restricting other players from getting them is not fair. hey do the mods/developers have plarte?? are they trying to change the game to unfairly benefit themselves? (*Puts on tin foil hat*) The last thing i must say is stoping turk from buying items is a really bad thing for those who are starting to progress through manufactureing. when you start manufactureing you can make fur gloves, this is good, as you can make a tiny profit selling them to the general store, the same with fur hats and cloaks. then something is there to seriously hinder your advancement: you can now make lether goods, except you can really only sell them to turk (though the update will counteract this atleast), then after a lot of lether gloves you can make lether armour, which too can not be made for little or no profit. then after strugleing for a while you can finally manufacture something of value, the iorn shield, you can even sell them to a npc and make some money, or atleast you could, so you need to strugle for a bit longer makeing lots more usless items untill you get to the next items which you can sell and make a profit. .... that is untill the next update to the game when items become too dificult to create and there is no profit. to summerise, i don't feel there was anything wrong with the economy that we had, shure lots of items where getting far cheaper than they should normally be, but we still have a free market. isn't the capitalist way "let the market decide." if the market means items should be way cheaper than you want, so be it. and thanks for reading my really long rant

    I've created a simple who's online app, that parses the who's onlne pages on the website. it can be found on the linux wariors Forums. with the link to the latest (at time of writing)here(.7.5 at time of writing) just unzip it and type java Gui it should then work. you can create your own lists (ie for guilds) and send them to me and i'll include them in the next version. ps should i post it in this section?

    if you are in a guild (especially lnx) we try to help eachother, and the fact that we all use linux makes us a little communist. it all depends on your motive, if you spend your time working for the community such as helping noobies and giveing away some items you can get rid of all the evil capitalisum from the game ps i'm an aussie, so i still live in a capitalist society.
  12. First Day Acomplishments

    i went pritty good on my first day, i did the noob tutorial (it is a little hard to follow some of the instructions), and asked a lot of questions, didn't relise there was a difference between local and chanel chat, but got the answers anyway. got lvl 25, made a fiew hundred fe's, died 6 times, and killed a lot of rabbits, bevers and even killed a fiew deers. and fell asleap at midnight, (my bed time has since changed to around 3am).

    it currently parses the page every 30 seconds (i can change this easily) and over the weekend i will change to parseing a different site if you are concerned about the load. if there is a better way to get the info please tell me. (ie good mirrors of the page) I have thaught about the server load, and it is restricted to only retrieveing data every 30 seconds, if you click update before then it will not update. is there a way to get the info more directly without adding more load? i don't want too much strain on the server ether. How do you like the app? what does it need? are there bugs?

    plate is too hard to get it took me a week of getting the money, and being able to get the efe's on the market, it cost me 32k to get the efe's @ 6k or more on the market, and i had 2 fails.
  15. Small Improvements To The Harvesting - Big Mistake

    I am a passive player (verry little attacking) and my helth is at 45 max, this means i can instantly die when harvesting, THIS IS NOT FAIR. I have an overall lvl of 53, but spent most of my points on resoning and nexus as I want to diversify my skills. now i need to lvl up 4 more times at this high level so i won't die instantly when harvesting. how do i do this now? i could fight skeletons, but i need a LOT of experience, and doing that from this high lvl is going to be hard. I could reset and start again, but why? ENT PLEASE GIVE ME AN OPTION

    I was thinking up a fiew bot ideas: - a carry bot - a help bot (chats on channel 1 and answers known questions) i have a fiew questions: can bots use storage? can bots kill? can bots harvest? can bots manufacture etc.?

    Another bot idea that i would like to create would be an auctioneer. players would be able to give me items to auction, set a reserve, and an auction would be caried out over a fiew days.

    by carrying i mean, the ability to carry stuff for me, ie when makeing iorn bars, i could get it to flollow me, and give me coal and fire essences. possibly have the ability to walk to storage and deposit and withdraw items and bring them back to me.
