  1. You can break down any game or any application on a computer or gaming console for that matter into clicks of a mouse and/or pressing buttons. What makes a good game/application is how long the person wants to sit there clicking that mouse or pressing those buttons.

So the question then comes down to this:

Is Eternal Lands a good game?

That depends. How long have you (general you) spent playing it? :P

    ------------------------------------

But back to the feasting potions, I suggest this:

Instead of - Wine, Raw Meat, Veggies, Fruit, Vial

Change it to - 2 Cooked Meat, 2 Wine, vial

Cooking the meat is adding a step to the raw meat, also making it not be able to be stored. But since there are no longer fruits or veggies, it wouldn't be that big of a deal. But to make the potions a bit more valuable (since we'd be taking away time spent harvesting the fruits and veggies), we make it require 2 wine. And the weight would still be high to keep exploitation low, as the wine would severely bog down players that are trying to carry too much.

    [100 FP = 200 wine (400emu) + 200 cooked meat (200emu) +100 vials (100emu) = 700emu

Also this could be a possible supply of gold for newbies, as they can sit around IP campfire cooking the meat and selling it to players: As there would be an increase in its demand.

Also it might add a dynamic to some players who are potioners/summoners. "Do I cook the meat for FP? Or save it for my animals?"

I suppose this would've been better in Suggestions, but I'm not going to create another topic that already exists.

  2. TP to range is level 15 and the next spell is Harm, which is now 20.

    Then Restoration which is 21.

TP to range and Harm both require essences that are made using mercury, making it extremely expensive to level up those 6 levels. I suggest a change is in order, and if I knew what that was then I would post in suggestions. :P

  3. People thought it was on purpose, because if I remember correctly, the devs were talking about resetting everyone (either all stats, or inventory-I don't remember exactly) and then the crash happened within a few weeks. It raised alot of suspicious eyebrows at the time.

There was also...the nameless one...that I remember saying certain things that may have contributed to people thinking it was not an accident.

    *starts singing 'Memories'*

  4. I know you wanted only reports on any bugs for the client you listed above, but I was referring to the current game client. I should've clarified that in my original post, I thought I'd help pinpoint the problem by posting my experience.

So sorry if I've confused you, just trying to help. :o

  5. I vote no.

Joining a guild gives a person immense benefits towards leveling every skill except att/def. I believe there has to be a downside to be in a guild as there are such great rewards. I always felt the downside was the non-interguild fighting.

Also keeping it the way it is helps the guild form alliances (which in turn can create enemies) so they will have someone to train with; thus giving guild to guild relationships a dynamic quality.

  6. If someone is smart enough to find/open/edit/save their password information into el.ini, then they are smart enough to know whether or not other people could get their password. And smart enough to take measures to make sure other people can't see their password.

They don't think about other people getting their passwords? Hows that our problem to fix? We can't start thinking for people...It doesn't work. :(

  7. Adjustable height of the grid.

Kind of self explanatory - if you have a few objects higher than 0.00 then you still need a grid sometimes but there is no way to adjust the height afaik.

    186041[/snapback]

The + and - keys raises and lowers the grid. If that's what you mean.

  8. I'm only going to explain what I need too. I feel I shouldn't have to explain how to find an object's ID # and such. So anyways, just copy and paste the regular font...anything in bold is explanations.

If it's in regular font, DON'T CHANGE IT!

Anything in general (except Map_name) needs a value of 1 or 0 after it. [example = allow_rain: 0 means it cannot rain on the map ever.]

1 means on or yes, 0 means off or no] And the general always goes first!

    [general]

    map_name: `Cool Map Name Here.`

    allow_multicombat:

    allow_harvesting:

    allow_rain:

    allow_combat:

    [/general]

If you need to teleport by stepping on a spot

    "Teleport to Some Map"

    [teleport_point]

    teleport_src_x:

    teleport_src_y:

    teleport_dst_x:

    teleport_dst_y:

    type: 1

    teleport_map:

    [/teleport_point]

The src is the source, which means the spot you have to stand on to teleport. The dst is the destination, the spot where you will appear

The following is use_area, any 3d object that you have to click on to teleport or change maps or to bring a message up will use this.

    "Signpost to map8"

    [use_area]

    min_x:

    min_y:

    max_x:

    max_y:

    teleport_x:

    teleport_y:

    teleport_map:

    map_object_id:

    inv_object_id: -1

    send_sparks: 0

    too_far_text: `Get closer.`

use_text: `If you want a message to appear, put it here.`

    wrong_object_text: `Nothing happens.`

    [/use_area]

With the 4 min's and max's you create an area that the player must be in for them to use whatever object you have listed. Make sure NONE of your different areas you will create overlap each other.

The following is used if you want the player to see an added place text when they click the compass.

    For example:

If map_name: is `Typing` and they click the compass it will say "You are in Typing" If you have a location_info that says `alot` and they click the compass it will say "You are in Typing alot"

    [location_info]

    min_x:

    min_y:

    max_x:

    max_y:

    text: `Particular place goes here.`

    [/location_info]

Ever seen those 'Warning! This map is a PK map!' message? You can have your own message if you put this in your def

    [text_area]

    min_x:

    min_y:

    max_x:

    max_y:

text: `Put your cool message here`

    [/text_area]

    ---------------------------

That is not all of the possible things that can go in a def. Oh no, there are alot more things. But it would take me too long to write it all out. Perhaps I will get to it soon though, but if you have in your def what I've already explained, then you'll be just fine. :-)

Feel free to ask questions of course.

    Hope this helps you all

  9. Dropping more gold is the way to go if 2 things also happen in abundance...

    1. The fighters are either sinking most of the gold into NPC's or players for their "goodies".

    2. That the gold coming in from the game is also going back into the game in a high percentage.

If those two things don't coincide with the increase in gold drops, then we will have an economy like we had before the reset/crash. Where everyone has crap-loads of money, and we're paying 1000 gold for 1 beaver fur.

And if that happens, we are back in the same shape as right now, only it's just the photo negative of now.
