    Chuck Norris has an OA above 172. When Chuck Norris eats toadstools, the people around him get poisoned. Chuck Norris did pvp with someone. The whole guild went to underworld at once. When Chuck Norris trained ranging on C1, critters on C2 were dying. Chuck Norris has no spells in his quickbar. He's never cast restore. Chuck Norris doesn't train a/d anymore. The dragons were dying too fast. Chuck Norris can harvest hydro. From C1.

    Thank you for explaining yourself better SF. Now I can respond. Here's my response. I agree with you. Here are my reasons for disagreeing with lil's idea: Firstly, The truth is, many skills are lopsided because this is an artificial economy with infinite resources. That lopsidedness is intentionally built into the game because 4M gc enter the game every day. (Blue Lupines, anyone? 10k Fluffies, anyone?) If everyone wants to make a profit in every skill, be prepared for insane inflation, and then we can have gc amounts that exceed the bit capacity of the server's variables. Secondly, food is used for mixing skills, but ranging doesn't fit that profile. It is true that drawing a bow 10k times takes a lot of energy (I own a recurve and a compound in rl), but that wouldn't be consistent with swinging a weapon not costing food. If fighting doesn't cost food, drawing a bow shouldn't either. Thirdly, the matter of risk is also moot, since there is plenty of risk with archery. Lag causes you to fire up to 1 second (generally) after you've clicked, which means in roughly 25% of instances, the creature may have moved within retaliation distance by the time you've fired. (I lost an elven and a recurve so far in this manner). I'm glad the discussion is refocusing on the issue, and not flaming.

  4. Potential Outlaws.

    Just lost my second bow to ranging on creatures. If they are beyond the "range of recognition" they won't even come near you after you hit them. A little closer, and when you hit them they walk over to you and stand there as if to say "WTH!" A little closer still, and they walk over and start pounding on you. Even with NMT on (although I dunno if it has an effect) and trying to dis as soon as the fight starts, I have lost 2 bows because lag between me clicking and the creature starting to walk towards me puts them in attack range by the time I fire an arrow.

    Ireally like the idea of rationality as a multiplier rather than bonus. This will of course use up more essies/sr cuz the health restored is lower given the same magic level and rat number. With magic immunity removal, it looks like 0 percent chance of removing magic immune if your magic lvl and rat are lower than the target's. Is there a way to still leave a small chance? Something like: (magic_caster*2*(rationality_caster/100)-magic_targe*2*(rationality_target/100))+5 Otherwise I see many people giving up on that spell for fear of just wasting mana.

    Kylass, you'll be restoring 130 HP with the new formula. Ent has said earlier those who are farther ahead deserve an advantage for their work. However, the advantage is smaller than you think. The following is fictional, but consistent with a high-level player. OA: 136 A/D: 120/132 P/C/W: 40/100/20 Perks Taken: PowerHungry, ScottyDied, Antisocial Human Nexus from Hydro Bars. After the cap, this player would get 52 PPs back. 8 would go to Phys, leaving 44 PPs. There are many options for where to put them, reasoning being one of the least desirable. Will and Vitality would make for a better fighter. In any case, this player has only 44 PPs to redistribute, all while keeping in mind that perception below 20 may be unwise. It would take 32 PPs to get perception to 20. Now there are 12 PPs left. This player won't be the pwn-all-others type as before. There's still an advantage here, but not one as significant as 100 coord.

    This is already fun! I've been considering new PP configs and their outcomes. There are still a ton of setups that will produce different advantages and disadvantages for training or pk. Throw in new spell effect formulas (which totally rox imo) and you've got some great mental acrobatics to do. Anyone who feels life will be harder for rounders... It's meant to be. You may not realize that to get the 178 max oa you must get > 2,000,000,000 experience. Here's a thought: Actually plan your character's setup based on 150 PPs, not counting neg perks. Then you won't waste my time reading your posts based on Utopian expectations.
  18. Very good ideas. I saw someone trap about 20 giants, 2 dragons, and a couple yeti by standing on the Ida city wall and keeping the critters outside the wall, trying to get to him/her. I even found myself remote healing higher fighters than me, because at that spot I was more helpful doing that than joining in the fight. And btw here are some tips for remote healing during invasions. If you heal people for about 30 health, heal the fighters when they're 30 below their max. Stop healing when the fighter is around 50% health, because he or she is about to restore and you're wasting your essies and mana. The point is to extend the time between restores for the fighter, so heal long before that person is about to restore.

    Once a week I can put on my best stuff and join a mob to bash giants and dragons. I die multiple times, and get to practice restore/potions use/dis without spending 16kgc when I mess up. Yesterday we were ganging dragons and taking turns dissing/recharging like a production line. It was great fun!

    I voted "occasional crashes", but it seems to go away if I disable sound. Too bad cuz I'm liking them. (Running on Win XP btw)

    Peino and robotbob both express valid points in their opinions. It's frustrating that some people want to stack the odds in their favor, and it makes it less fun for newer players. However, there are ways players can get around that. It just requires time and dedication. It will cost the game some people who might otherwise have done more fighting. I think peino did a great job expressing some of the logistics that have reduced the number of people willing to PK. But, rbob, why do you need to "LOL" at peino and make your opinion a rant? Why not raise your communication style to match peino's? A little reciprocation of courtesy would give your opinion more credence. I can think of many things that give me a better high than that ^^. Come to think of it, that wouldn't give me a high at all.

    I've noticed characters stand a bit farther apart now when fighting, and it takes a tiny bit longer for the fight animations to begin, but imo it looks better this way.

    Ent posted a pre-download thread to address the download issue. If too many people are downloading at once, it goes very slow or you don't even get a connection to the host server. And to connect to test server, you should make a copy of the EL shortcut, then right-click the new shortcut, click properties, change name to EL Test Server, and change the target by adding a space and the word test after the quotation marks. Example: "C:\Program Files\Eternal Lands\el.exe" test
