  1. Desdy is rich! :sneaky::stare::icon13:

Foreman, Alchemy is a good place to start because it doesn't require precious Pick Points to be spent on nexus. However you will need to put one or two into Inorganic nexus for harvesting, as well as buying books for some harvesting.

You may be trying to out-think yourself by looking for strategies so early in the game. In my opinion it's better to just have fun and learn as you go, but I'm a slacker... There are a few ways you can change your course after you have played for a while, and there's no reason not to create an alt character just to experiment with different methods of play. Just remember the rules if you do: Alt characters may not contribute to each other in any way, that could result in a total ban from the game.

In my case, I have two alts that follow completely different play styles from my main, and a few weenies running around testing strategies. None of these characters know each other exists but it's nice to 'be' someone else for a while if I get bored plucking lilacs all day!

You can reset your character back to OA level 0, losing all of your Pick Points spent but keeping your skill levels and any Gods you have chosen to follow. Some players enjoy doing this (me) and others have never and would never (everyone else!)

As you are now early in the game and decide you should have done things differently right from the start, you can always kill yourself off completely and start all over again. It is just a game after all.

  2. As a citizen of the "U.S.", I don't care for the term "of America" myself. Instead of 'US of A' it should be 'US inc. '. I don't wish our false form of democracy on any other nation in the Americas, and anywhere else in the world. Grrr....

Anyway, I voted None of the Above. There are a few people on the list that I would not feel too uncomfortable with as president including Radu's man (a Republican, no less!) My problem with this list is the absence of any other political party! The US, contrary to popular belief, is NOT a two-party nation! It is a one-power nation. That power is G.O.D., the Good Old Dollar! The only reason that the Liberal, Independent, Green, Libertarian, Socialist Workers, Communist, Right-To-Life, and a page full of political parties don't get noticed by the US public is because the Dollar buys the media, and only the rich have the dollar, and only the corrupt Republicans and Democrats represent the rich.

Honestly! Hillary? Giulianni? Gag me with a shovel!! Absolutely sickening, and I'm in New York State! :stare:

Out of the whole list above, Dennis Kucinich is the only one I would speak civilly to, shake hands with a wish well. The others just rate a life ring if they've fallen overboard, and a damn good yelling at for leaning so far over the rail.

My vote, as it has been used for over a decade, will be reserved for Ralph Nader unless someone else not afraid to tell the truth has a better opportunity to win. Yesterday, I wrote in four names for the local elections and next year I will carry my pen to the polls as well. :sneaky:

  3. I was leaving a message in another forum and noticed I had no signature on my posts. It would be an appropriate place to put an EL link banner (the forums are for the webcomic that my sig here links to.)

I didn't find a group of graphic links on the EL website or in the forums and am curious if they exist and I've been looking up the wrong trees. Somehow I get the feeling that I've seen a bunch of banners in the forums made by players, but can't find any.

It is a feature that ought to be on the main site for people to copy and use on other sites/forums. In the meantime I'll make a few for myself and post them on the forums for approval. If I just overlooked a source for EL banners, kick me! I apologize for wasting everyones reading time... but please post the address!

  4. Another suggestion not mentioned is to explore!! This is the only way you will find the quests.

Talk to every NPC you encounter, some of them have lots of information! Learn the ways to get from map to map easily and notice where handy things to harvest or use are on each map.

One sneaky hint is if you have done the Tutorials and are just walking around the mainland, then you've probably bypassed a few quests already. They sneak up on you and aren't labeled as quests like in some other games. There are a lot of secrets in EL too. Touch some things in the right way and you'll discover hidden places, or be transported to places that would take a long time to walk to.

Keep your eyes wide open! There's a lot more to EL than you may be expecting, and it keeps changing and improving all the time!

You've already made one very important step by joining the forums. Tons of information here, just remember you can't do it all at once. Everything has to be worked up to. Good luck!

  5. I'll bet that's all just what you didn't want to hear, Foreman, but you'll get the same answer from almost all of us! The lilacs in that one spot are the simplest and fastest way to make gc.

For variety you could hunt fox, make fox scarves, and sell them at General Stores for 10gc, it's not as fast but it involves A/D exp and Manu exp.

We've all followed this routine in one way or another, and after only 6 to 10 hours of play your levels increase enough to add more activities. Plus, you'll be relatively rich! Have fun!!

  6. I don't have a specific complaint about hoarding, but I can understand why players would. In my case there are plenty of other things to do in EL to keep me happy.

There is one bright side to this, now that my Alch level is 39 making FE's is sooooo easy!! :) Even though the exp is minimal, mixing FE's is like taking a vacation compared to titanium bars or Idaloran rings!!

And maybe someday, who knows where, who knows when.... I'll make another EFE..... :)

  7. I'm about ready to start looking for EFE's myself.

Early in my levels, I managed to make three EFE's which at the time I felt it more important to sell them for book money since I knew it would be a long time before I could do anything with them. Now I'd like to start making things that require EFE's and they are long gone.

In my case, I'm too cheap (Dwarf, you know) to spend GC on them let alone Earth money in the store! :brooding:

Occasionally, I'll mix up a bunch of FE's in hope.... but with the low 10 exp I get each, it's almost a waste of time.

It's possible that many ingame EFE's are being held until the makers can do something with them, unlike my strategy. Still, 10k is a lot considering the number of regular players.

Maybe if they had more uses?

  8. I agree with Stricken, by the time anyone reaches those levels so many variables may have changed that the point may become moot! It may be unnecessary to make changes now if when the time comes they would need to be changed back or to something else altogether. Less work for the Dev's too.

  9. It was a good time for all, never saw so much cooperation in the game all at once!

I got blindsided in MM while reaching down to pet a loud cat, looked back and I was dead! Actually enjoyed the realization that monsters were spawning without notice after thinking I could reach storage in PL, and didn't! Finally got to Raven and grabbed 100 each of HE's, ME's, SR's, and had a ball healing at IP.

Would like to see easier spawns for A/D's under 30/30, although the recent invasion with rats in WSC froze my client anyway. All I could do was pick up the rat bags, no movement or typing.... that's my computer, not EL.

Big fun, Gicu! Thanks for the trick... and treat!
