It is a good single panel comic, just don't try to start with the first one and catch up to today! I wore it out pretty quick, still there are some gems in there. Fitting a 'Slicer Dicer' movie character into daily life is a clever theme, and Butch really is a sympathetic character. Makes me think of Bob the gob.... Ahh, that reminds me: "What do you call a goblin with no arms and no legs floating in Portland Harbor?" "Bob."

Complainers of the world, unite!! Wish I could find an example of the Real Life version, it's almost as funny. I'm getting all manner of odd results! On both original and el_noclusters.exe I would get random freeze-ups with eventual client crash after at least an hour or more of play. No similar events taking place for these and not often at all. Trying el_notiles_noclusters I started with character creation. As soon as I got to the Wraith the client froze then crashed. This occurred right after creation and on second try. All I had to do was pan the camera and freeze. I then logged in with an alt and had no trouble for about a half-hour. Playing with most of the ground unclickable is hard to do! Took boats, changed maps, got killed, no problem. I just updated my NVidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 32MB from the NVidia site yesterday. No difference from before the update. System is WinXP Home 2002 SP2, 600 mhz P3, 384 RAM. Other than the few crashes, my only problems have been a slight time delay in key input (typing) and mouse clicking, plus a very jerky animation. My character while walking looks like he's doing the chicken dance and the moonwalk at the same time! My FPS has been very low from much earlier clients (2005) but this doesn't seem to be related. The restricted movement I'm normally used to still occurs under 8 FPS but this choppy animation is consistent at any FPS. ~~ I'm using the character I created that crashed at the Wraith now with no trouble on the original el.exe, it has only crashed using el_notiles..... One other thing I noticed was logging in earlier today with el_noclusters.exe, some graphics were acting strange. My leather gloves were all black in MM but MM cave looked normal. The small stones on the ground were blank white until I changed maps, and some faces were all black til I moved away and came back into view. A few hours previous to this, everything was fine and I had changed nothing at all. So far I've tried many of the advised tricks to the point of uninstalling all versions of EL and starting fresh including the data folder in My Documents, turning off everything running in the background, and defragging the drive. Nothing has changed the way EL runs since the update. I am wondering if there is another source for graphics drivers recommended. This one appears to be perfect for the card and dated this year, but ya never know. Meanwhile, my issues are very minor and I'm loving the update. I'll try a few more things, and if anything is worth mentioning I'll get back.

So very happy!! It's a whole new world! I'm very pleased that my old computer maintains the same FPS as with every previous update. It may be low, but EL is still playable. A few points: A mighty "Thank You!!!" to all the volunteers who worked on the update! Should we be posting any problems, bugs, issues, etc. in the Help section or here on General. It looks to be a whole number of disorganized threads with many repeated questions. Maybe a temporary new client troubleshooting category would help? I seem to be getting a very slight delay in response to my typing and mouse clicking compared to earlier clients. Chances are this is due to my Model A PlaySkool computer, but I'm curious if anyone else experiences this. I'd like to know if it is legitimate and legal to alter some sound files. My battle cries are scaring my cats . I don't want to turn the Character sounds all the down but I have found that I can tone down the file volume individually using Audacity. Just asking permission here, actually... Again, the update is fantastic! I thank the Devs no end!!

You make a good point Zamirah, as far as GC goes, not the best, but the exp spent to get the gold is always worthwhile. Not to mention how good you feel when you actually Manu something after 27 fails!

I have created and killed off a handful of characters on both the main and test servers to try out different strategies for to wipe y'all off the face of my world.... So far I have spent my first 5 pick points and reached an OA of 12 within one harvesting hour (as opposed to including an hour change during game time.) Doing this personal challenge involves the current server situation... nobody trying to kill me on the docks, or anywhere obviously. My goals have been to level some pick points while avoiding stronger players up to the point where I can visit the Wraith rarely, communicate with only those I wish to, and stay away from lower level battling at least until I can arm myself without great cost. I also hope to ally myself with people that think harder than they fight. I am willing to lose for exp and knowledge, but not just to get pummeled in an overhanded snowball fight... and believe you me, what I will leave in my DB will be the same garbage you already have! Of course I've left out my severely magnificent ubur-pwning details (which should be simple and obvious,) and would love to hear everyones strategies for the PK Servers! Give us all a go! How to deal with Wiseguys waiting for the unprepared on the docks (realistic.) How to become super-strong before ever leaving the newbie island (rad-mad ultra fake.) How to spend the next 20 years at the foot of the Wraith dispensing EL wisdom while living off of bunnies and buddies... How to chase my weenie tushy all over the map wasting precious time just as you would do with a small animal... how do you know I'm distracting you while my hip, young, lithe, archeress partner isn't ready to poke you in the slats with the Killer Branch of Evil Pokeyness! I have plans! Do you?

I have forgotten what Trik pays for Iron Shields, but the exp is good if you Harv, Alch, and Manu the whole thing..... Meanwhile, the sun is shining... and there are maps to explore.... When leather becomes a low-cost commodity, pants are an easy sell. In my case, ten pairs last a few hours in Naralik, and five pairs of augmented leathers last a few more hours. Those spiders eat anything! I Manu my own leathers, but you can sell them as well as the augs for some profit and good exp to make. Don't forget the gods for extra experience, it's worth the effort and the effort is worth the exp you get doing the god quests!

It's all about game balance, if the food level is raised to 100 then one bite from an apple will take eight minutes to swallow (or however the balance may fit.) I'm just glad to know, as a dwarf, with the new update, my belly's gonna get bigger! (In appearance only!) Maybe a third type of food to go over the limit with.... we have toadstools and bones with their own limitations, how about honeycomb from beehives? It could have any of a number of possible limitations from harvesting constrictions, to bee stings, to attracting aggressive bears! How about Thanksgiving Dinner Pots that last 65 food points but slow down your mixing.... until you AFK at random moments!

I am very politically opinionated. I made one post expressing my views somewhat in this thread, and could continue debating the issues and candidates to the point of angering others here. I stopped with the one post. The only opinion I can offer that I believe is important is concerning not politics, but arguing over it. Please don't if it jeopardizes the relationship between EL'ers! I think it might be wise for the sake of the game to keep all forum communication as civil as possible for the sake of the game the forums are part of. Off topic is great, politics and the fate of nations are more important than Eternal Lands, but there are plenty of other websites to cock-fight over that stuff without shaking the delicate floorboards under the arenas of discussion this game already has opposing sides in (PK, NDD, EFE, update come to mind, and those are just this week!) Please help me remember that the presidential elections are still a year away, and the wealthy people have been going at it for nearly a year already... what a stinking waste of money! Could have rebuilt New Orleans by now... Take a deep breath. Think of EL. Adjust priorities. Take another deep breath. Think of RL. Join the Green Party! .... Smile!

Jaida, Bleeding Soul, and Piper have valid points. I can live with No Drop day and love the invasions no matter how dead I get but this is because I am at a good level to prepare for the weekend by making the necessary essies and money to buy the potions I will need to join the fun. If I loved EL as much as I do now, but only had the opportunity to play on the weekends... yes, I would be disappointed. There is a long stretch of my time zone being used for NDD where I would normally be collecting bones and meat. It is obvious that this would be upsetting. Is it possible for the meantime to take NDD out of the random rotation of special days while the scheduled invasions continue? That does seem unfair, but just makes for a bit of diplomacy while harming very little. Is it also possible to begin and end the scheduled NDD time periods closer to the invasions without using the clock to determine the time period? This concept hurts the few who want to PK away from the invasions, but the whole idea of the invasions is to get all the fighters together pounding on dragons and giants for the sake of busting up equipment I have gone to safe C1 maps to mix and collect more items for the invasion while the action was hot, and seen a large number of heavily armored players with high Material Points walking around. This means nothing really, but if I had that kind of 5t00f, I would be all over them Blackies givin'em what for!! It does look like many players take advantage of NDD without being involved in the invasions, so I believe Jaida has a perfectly valid claim. There are plenty of us Dvarven in EL who enjoy heading to Valhalla in the glory of kicking the shin of a Red Dragon, who are just as happy in the caves hammering out gold rings from the Rhinemaidens stash, while hammering on skellies for food. Tis all fun, tis all good, but too much of any good thing and the balance of the game can change a lot of fickle minds. NDD is great for planned invasions, drops are great for mixers. IMHO it's the timing that needs tweaking, no complaints, and Mortos forbid any contributor to the forums should be told to "shut up."

Believe the term for that is 'pixel-impoverished.' They make USB ports to screw into your temples that when connected with the proper software enhance your experience of everything. A great idea! I guess September 2008 will begin the first two years, but if there is any way to start the process sooner you could begin at one and a half years. As to dabomb1's post about players in the military being gone for long periods of time (I hope "deported" was a slip on the word "deployed" ) this is a valid point. If there was a safe and easy way to maintain such a database, being able to connect game player names with passwords with forum accounts with email addresses and time stamps, would be a boon to all (except the poor fool who suggested it and will now have to maintain it !) It seems logical that this information is vulnerable for security breaches, abuse, etc., but if it could be accessed then an automated pre-agreed idle character time limit could be set. All players who have been idle for a given period of time receive an email warning of deletion... rules to be set... a whole nother category for moderation, etc. Still it 'could' be done. Before I can use the evil phrase "You have to do this for us..." I willingly will say "How can I help you do what you need to make EL easier to maintain and improve." Suggestions are only steam in cold air without the heat to keep the steam rising. I'll keep my boiler stoked if I'm asked to put out real effort to making EL easier to maintain and improve.

Believe my gray matter is dis-oriented! I didn't pick up on whether or not this client may safely be tried on the Test Server. Ent's original post mentions it is not compatible with "current server," so I have just downloaded it without installing (to avoid temptation!) I'll wait patiently til the server is ready, no problem! If el_150 can be used on the test server, and player input is wanted, I'll give it a go. Not without clarification on that point.
