  1. OK ok ok ok.. I have a confession.. Don is the father of my children.. :)

SERIOUSLY speaking Don is deh man! ... and I'm a wo-man .. ok a goddess  Don, get yourself in contact with Entropy and back ingame because we all know there is NO life outside the realms of EL so just ignore my siggy.

  2. Aislinn, no disrespect meant but she does mention in post #3 that she doesn't want to change the underworld system exactly per say but wants to add to the death experience.

Piper I loved you explanation of the underworld experience and why we have the underworld as opposed to heaven/hell.

Personally I love this idea of yours but me not knowing anything about programming I don't know how complicated it would be and if its even worth it. I do like the idea of those who serve a god to go to a realm of the perhaps the first god which they serve (first god could be considered main god) whilst those who do not serve a god still only get the underworld death experience.

I'm sure its been discussed before but I also think it would be cool to have a level restricted underworld... one for people under such and such and so on, etc.. but not more than 2 underworlds or its too confusing. Once I had an idea to have random exits from the underworld but how to eliminate not popping up on a PK map?

Anyway, you're probably new to these forums but as Aislinn pointed out its usually best to perform a search before beginning a topic to make sure its not already been discussed and as long as its not locked I'm assuming that its still open for discussion.

I still think your idea is good and you shouldn't give it up entirely but work on it some more.

  3. Is hard to implement properly, and not worth it. Just have a friend help you :hehe:

I guess it probably would be since I don't know much about programming. Thanks for responding and at least I tried, lol.

Thanks again all to who participated in the discussion. Now back to harvesting my blue lupines. Btw, I like your idea Tanyia.. I think thats what Piper was basically saying too but I think 50K an hour is a bit much.

  4. As I said, I borrowed this idea from Learner's new and up coming game O-L.

You can't legitimately compare O-L to EL. O-L is a p2p game in it's entirety. You can't play if you don't pay. So there is no unfairness in it because EVERYONE is paying. And whatever features and abilities are given for that fee is determined ahead of time and a potential player can make his decision on whether he wants to pay or not. No pay, no play.

Actually I already responded to this post in a sense before you posted it.. look in post number 7 ..

I said "In Learner's new game O-L he will offer that feature but it must be paid for and I personally think its a great idea. Of course in Learner's game all char's are paid for and therefore its a bit different but still my idea originated.. was a spinnoff of his multiplay rule. I'm suggesting something entirely different for EL since our base char are free. I think it could work and work well or at least it might be worth a try."

  5. I say eternity because it will last forever as long as you keep paying, unlike a thermal serp which you pay a lot more for and get a lot less for plus it breaks on you.

And no, not all p2p characters pk. NO idea how you get that notion. Only a percentage of p2p characters ingame pk, so you can't claim ALL p2p chars get an advantage.

I say no way as my opinion and as a dev with a vote if it came to it. I do not say it implying it will definitely officially not happen.

We have a slight misunderstanding here.. I didn't say p2p char were for PK. I said that Thermal Serps are mainly used to PK with. But most serious pkers do have a p2p char, thats for sure and there is a reason for it.. its because there is an advantage in attack/defense since there are no books for these races and thats part of the attraction for many to buy these chars.

Thanks everyone for participating in this discussion.

Thats the way it is for any paid feature/item.. it lasts as long as you pay the required fee. Bots are fortunate because there is only a one time fee and many players use their bots to multiplay, also. But thats another thread altogether. I'm not here to report cheaters.

I'm here to discuss this idea which I personally feel deserves a fair chance and as I said before it originally came from Learner's new game but other games have the same feature and for free.

Yes you pay more for a thermal serp but a thermal serp gets its money's worth if you are a serious pker so the point is that its still a huge advantage whether it breaks or not and not everyone can afford it yet its certainly not unfair. Everyone can't afford a p2p but thats also not unfair. Paying for a multiplay account would not be unfair.

Also, other players see a p2p so they want to buy one so that player "z" doesn't have an advantage over them and also they want to have a cool looking char like everyone else. The same thing goes for many of the expensive items in the EL shop. Player "r" buys a thermal and has a huge advantage in Pk so player "s" wants to buy a thermal serp to balance that advantage off.. same reason they bought the p2p. Having a multiplay account would be no different.

Then again we all have our own opinions and definitions of what fair is or isn't.

  6. Most people who have thermal serps don't use them so they won't break.

You telling me the paid for mule will break in 2 days as well?

Also only some p2p characters pvp/pk. It is not an advantage for the rest of the people, and hardly the same level of advantage a paid for mule for eternity would have.

    Sorry but no way.

They may not use them in training but they do use them in PK where it counts most.

Who said anything about eternity? I prefer not to call it a "mule" because its not a mule per say. I suggested an annual fee of 20 usd and it would be considered a feature/option if it were to ever be implimented. The paid multiplay account which isn't always about muling btw (some use alts to make potions or he or manu which aides another char) will last as long as a p2p char which also is a privalage and an advantage.

When you say "sorry but no way" is this the decision already for this proposed feature or your personal opinion? I'm just trying to get some clairity here because if the decision has been made then there is no point for me to continue to the debate. Thanks.

  7. I would just like to say that in the future if something like that happens you can always use #ignore. There is another bot who sends messages but they are nice messages but the point is that some people might prefer not to have them and this particular bot actually has a feature I think which the messages can be turned off but at worst the #ignore option is available.

  8. I agree with Aislinn (for once :)) Paying for an alt would give too much of an unfair advantage for those that can put money into the game and those that can't.

IMO Buying a weapon is one thing, but this allows you a huge advantage, you can do activities like harvesting twice as fast :/

Some would say that being able to buy a thermal serp or a p2p race (p2p race has a slight advantage in ad because there are no combat books for these 3 races and that is part of the attraction, too) is also a disadvantage. Maybe it is but thats part of the hook/lure to buy it because it would be a feature/option offered. There always has to be an attraction/demand/need when marketing an item/product.

You already can have as many alternate characters as you want. But you are not allowed to let them interact. This has a simple reason: To give every player the same chances and possibilites. I know of no other MMORPG that has a shared storage, in most commercial MMORPG you have one account with several characters and you can only be online with one at a time. So that's even more strict than in EL.

If you allow people to legally pay for a mule, you basically legitimize cheating for those that can afford to pay for it.

Here's my solution: Go and ask some guild mates, friends, whoever... I'm sure you will find several people that will help you to haul and mule things to your storage. And the best thing it's absolutely free :(

Just off the top of my head, knightsonlineworld has shared storage and allows each account to have 3 char with shared storage. Every player doesn't have the same chance/possibilites due to various reasons such as everyone can't afford magical weapons or p2p char but that doesn't make it unfair.

It wouldn't be cheating if its a feature/option which is paid for. I'm not suggesting to pay for the right to script or to buy stats, etc.. and even with this proposed feature/option if it were to be accepted/approved there would have to be limitations/guidelines, etc.. to be respected.

Yes, its nice to ask people for help but there is also nothing wrong with having a choice to pay for a multiplay account as a special feature/option and would certainly bring in extra revenue for the game and would add more dynamics. Its worth a try.

  9. Hmmmm, given that it is likely fairly widespread already then this would legitamise it, which might be a valid idea. We certainly don't want people to think that they can buy their way out of breaking the rules, or that if enough people do it, then the rules will be changed.

Going to have to give this one some thought I think.

I just want to make it clear that is not my reason to legitamize a multiplay account. It would be a feature/option which EL would offer at a price. The limitations and guidelines would have to be designed if it was ever to be approved, of course. I do feel it would bring more dynamics to the game and would be interesting to pay to have an account which shares storage with another account OR to allow char "x" to interact (excluding pvp) with char "y" as long as it was paid/declared for.

Either muling and other forms of multiplaying is legal or it isn't.

If it is, it needs to be free. If it isn't, then absolutely not should only some be allowed the privilege because they have $$$ to throw away.

It shouldn't be free because it would be a special feature such as buying special weapons from the EL shop or buying a p2p race.. those items/features aren't free either. Not everyone can afford a thermal serp or a p2p char but it doesn't make it not fair. This would be paying for a p2m char as I call it.. a char which could legally interact with the main or designated char owned by the account. It has nothing to do with money to throw away because some people can say the same for buying certain luxurious items in the EL shop or to even buy a p2p race.. It all depends on what one is willing to spend on the game based on whats important to them. In Learner's new game O-L he will offer that feature but it must be paid for and I personally think its a great idea. Of course in Learner's game all char's are paid for and therefore its a bit different but still my idea originated.. was a spinnoff of his multiplay rule. I'm suggesting something entirely different for EL since our base char are free. I think it could work and work well or at least it might be worth a try.

    edit for typos..

  10. So the adults who have an income will be able to legally cheat, and the kids who don't have their own source of income won't.

I personally do not think this any more fair than buying stats for $$$.

Some of the kids or most have more of an available income than the adults. Thats one reason there is so much weapons and items sold in the EL shop and also why you see so many p2p races running around. People also pay others ingame with gold to buy their items or p2p char. It would be a nice feature/option to offer the players and bring in some much needed extra revenue at the same time for EL.

I've always been the type to hate comparing EL to other MMO but this time I will do it.. many or most other MMO allow multiplay and shared storage and they offer it at no extra charge. What I'm suggesting is not to be like other MMO but rather try something out different and charge each player 20 usd per year per char which they wish to consider for multiplay. Char "x" will multiplay for char "y" but char "o" is not allowed to engage, etc..unless its paid the required fee. Or perhaps there could be a limit of one paid multiplay account per player.. lots of ideas are floating around and we are certainly only limited by our own imagination.

It wouldn't be cheating because its not the same as buying stats because despite having a legal multiplay char, they are still basically working hard for their stats.. stats aren't being given, but thats just my personal opinion. As I said, I borrowed this idea from Learner's new and up coming game O-L.

What it would do however is to change the dynamics of the game and make multiplay legal within certain boundaries which would have to be defined and respected. Cheating would still be scripts such as macro, etc. There are tons and tons and probably over half of the players on EL do multiplay in some capacity. Some people have a fighting char and they use their potion or alchemy char to suppy he or srs to the fighting char or the fighting char is used as a mule for their potion char, etc.. etc.. etc..

20 USD a year would be a reasonable price to pay.. same amount as a p2p..anyway.. thats my idea for whatever its worth.

  11. This idea isn't completely mine. I borrowed it from Learner's new and upcoming game but nevertheless I think it deserves some merit and serious consideration.

I personally know an immense amount of people who multiplay and NO I'm not one of them simply because I don't like to cheat nor do I have the time and energy for an alt. Just because someone has an alt doesn't mean that they cheat or multiplay but there are many who do and not only with obvious high emu char.

When I first started playing the game 15 months ago I had antisocial and so many told me the way around that was to use an alt to do things with so I tried that a bit until I found out it was cheating. I also used my son's char back in those early days to bagsit my deathbag once. I also found out that was multiplay and cheating too. That has been over a year since I did that and I didn't get in trouble or punished because I wasn't caught. At the time I wasn't aware that it was really wrong but yet it felt dishonest so I never did it again. I still know so many who practice this act of cheating called "multiplay". Yes, its unfair to the rest of us, I agree.

This is my suggestion and I hope that we all will give it some serious thought because personally I think it can be a good thing and certainly change the dynamics in the game and perhaps even make it a little more interesting or "not" ? You decide.

Why not offer the players an option to pay for an alt char such as 20 usd per year which would be allowed to multiplay (excluding pvp) with their main char? Perhaps this char would be new or not but it would give allot of people the opportunity to come "clean" so to speak and make multiplay not such a dirty word as it is today. All of our char are free except p2p .. so why not have a p2m char, too?

If you think my idea sucks, then ok but I thought it couldn't hurt to try. Thanks for listening all.

  12. I don't think any of you guys are in the position to make fun of Chimeran Wolf.. actually NONE of us are because we ALL abuse this forum entirely too much with our personal fights, silliness, one line posts, etc.. I have and many of us have and we should all start respecting the fact of what this forum is intended for because the mods have actually been way lenient with us up until now.

  13. You are RUDE! I think you are having fun right now trying to see whose buttons you can push but be careful because you might take your little game too far. If that does happen, don't try to beg and worm your way out of the hole that you put yourself in. While you are dishing out advice, you might take some of your own plus go back to the school of good manners which has nothing to do with language or grammar.

i apologize if u'r offended but after this was over i stated i was wanting to play still because that's the mood this thread has put me in. also stated that if some1 wanted to continue, that they should take this as i have as a fun diversion. u even said u were from chats so u should know this type of diversion pretty well, i'm actually suprised u took it so seriously. though i will admit the last bit was a bit much, out of courtesy to the rest of the devs, i'll edit it, it was a comment by 1 person not the whole staff.

Thanks for apologizing but I think you owe Aislinn an apology and Roja too and maybe the whole forum in general. You're obviously an intelligent articulate person, however you took things a little too personal. I've been playing for 15 months (I still feel like a newbie, btw) at EL off and on pretty much and I know most of these people here and I have to say that from my personal experience nothing which was said to you was intended to be a "put down" or insult of any kind. If you felt disrespected, perhaps they did too?

Honestly I think that you overreacted a bit from the beginning and took everything way too personal and blew it all out of proportion and context both. But we can all do that from time to time. We are only human, after all. Except for moi and I'm a goddess.. just joking. I'm as bad as anyone else. Its so easy to misunderstand one another in text especially when you're dealing with different languages, cultures, etc.. We can't hear the transition in one's voice nor see body language or facial expressions to know if someone is angry, joking, sad or happy, etc. All we have to go is mere words. Words are so easily misconstrued.

I do accept your apology but I encourage you to give everyone here a chance so that we in return can give you a chance, too. One more thing, EL is more than just a game. What sets it aside from the rest is not the graphics but the community.

  14. well communication is the key to success in ANY endeavor, so my suggestion that u get out and see how other ppl in other spheres than u'r own still applies. as u see my style HAS changed to be more considerate to those that i have a good reason to be considerate to. as for u, if u still can't read and understand this MUCH easier, i REALLY suggest u turn off u'r computer, take a month off and go explore the REAL WORLD. talk to ppl and learn more about how most ppl in the world speak, write, type because i think an experience like that will be INVALUEABLE to u in this and all of u'r future endeavors. it pry wouldn't hurt for u to spend some time in IRC chat as well i think u could learn a few things there as well, not only in communication w/ ppl, but also about internet security. judging by the logon to the client alone, there is a SERIOUS lack of thought put into that so far.

but ok since u said not to bother, then i won't, when i find a better game i'll see what EL players i take w/ me then. that what u really want?

You are RUDE! I think you are having fun right now trying to see whose buttons you can push but be careful because you might take your little game too far. If that does happen, don't try to beg and worm your way out of the hole that you put yourself in. 15. DemonCowboy, I belong to a gothic forum which actually requires correct spelling, capitalization and punctuation or to at least make an effort. All posts which don't meet up to their standards are deleted promptly. I was so accustomed to chatting on msn, yahoo and other net programs.. even EL that at first it was hard for me to get used to.

Seriously speaking, the net has been damaging to grammar, spelling and the languages in general. Too often out of laziness or ease or habitude we find ourselves not punctuating, capitalizing, spelling properly and basically abbreviating just about anything and everything that we can.

OK.. fine but at least try to take the time to form paragraphs.. organize your thoughts so that others can understand because without punctuation and paragraphs at the bare minimum it makes it nearly impossible to decipher what you want others to read.

Finally, please try not to take things too personal because no one knows you personally to make personal comments. The mod/dev team would tell anyone the same thing that they are telling you.. even each other.

EDIT: We had to agree to the forum rules of grammar in order to register and be accepted. Initially, I was thinking this is a bit extreme but now I completely understand. :D

  16. Thanks Piper but I never knew they we didn't have a right to visit private maps. It doesn't say that anywhere in the rules but hey we learn something new every day. I've been playing for 15 months and not once have I heard this "rule" before now. I think this should be listed somewhere in the rules that players do not have the right to visit guild maps.

Common sense told me that probably Corpis attacked because it was on a private map but I wasn't certain. I posted this thread because first of all, it was kinda funny and second of all I really thought there was a problem that the bot attacked me on peace day but wasn't sure or not and wanted to know 100%. Finally, I really didn't know we didn't have the right to enter, explore or visit private maps. I didn't have a clue.

LOL... if you assume you have the right to enter private property just because it is "Peace Day" then obviously Corpus decided (in a very limited "Bot" way) that he had the equal right to ignore Peace Day and feed you your entrails.

I guess if it was Peace day and you came on MY property uninvited, I might be less than peaceful also.

You don't even have the excuse that you didn't know it was a *CO* privat map, as you have mentioned it several times.

I guess you got what you asked for - next time PM someone from *CO* and see if it is OK to visit.

    Stewbaby

That whole post was done in humour not as a complaint and lots have tried to get past Corpus so please don't make it sound like I committed a crime. Its always been kinda a game. I just thought it was funny to be pk on peace day plus I was curious even though sorta knew why.. :) It was just something fun to post about and nothing more but the whole thread was blown way out of proportion.

  17. I don't think you need to feel embarassed about this thread--you did have a legitimate question. I think that the point everyone was trying to make by talking about "rights" and "privacy" is that since the guild paid $300 total for a secret, protected map, that even random days should not be able to take away that privacy. In other words, they paid for privacy ALL the time, not just on most days. :)

It doesn't mean you shouldn't *try* to find them...I mean, finding secrets is fun! It just means that we can't complain if we are never able to get past the guards :D

Thanks Tanyia :) I wasn't complaining at all. :devlish: I thought it was funny that I was attacked on peace day and just didn't fully understand why although I did suspect it was because it was a private map or somethng like that but its actually because its a bot because the ants and other bots are also not effected which is cool.

It is fun to find secrets and try to get past the guards. I only know of Corpus, lol. Once I found the LINX guild map and that was fun except when I got stuck in a house. I didn't know it was the LINX guild map until Rogue ported to me and told me. I remember once a bunch of us went in altogether and thought one of us would live to tell about it that we got past corpus. It ended up being me. I used tele to range ess. It was allot of fun. All of the other poor people died...
