  3. Pre RC 10

    Installed RC_10 on all three PCs. The Intel and GeForce PCs load and run well and I've added their UVP thingies to my siggy. The RADEON PC experiences a MS C++ Runtine Library Error during loading and crashes; while "Initializing OpenGL extensions". All three PCs have been updated the same way for all RCx versions to date. Saw your post about moving char with another client, did this but still experience the MS runtime error. EDIT: ahhh...saw your post about another .exe to download - I'll try it and report back. EDIT: Installed the "newer" version of RC_10 on the RADEON PC and no runtime error. It loads and seems to be running well. I've updated my siggy accordingly.

  8. Pre RC9

    RC_9 is now installed and working on all three PCs listed in my siggy (I know...I'll work on shrinking the length for the forum ) The only problem I have is with the mouse pointer on my Poor Man PC. The pointer doesn't change when over items or NPCs on the screen. Its stuck in walk mode. The pointer DOES change when interacting with the game buttons and inventory items listed in the inventory boxes vertically displayed on the upper right side - near the quickspell icons. Other than the mouse pointer, no crashes and other major issues so far. EDIT: >> This corrected my problem on the Poor Man PC.

    I've updated my siggy to capture my Laptop Info. This is the first time I've loaded any of the Pre_RCx verisons on this machine. So far - everything...and I mean everything...seems to be working very well^^ I do have another PC that I need to check out later. EDIT: the above RC_9 results are from my Intel LP.

  11. RC8 for the flicker problem ONLY

    SOLVED for me ^^, no more flickering above or below - Good stuff!! EDIT: this result is with VOB enabled and 'shader' folder intact. And now able to adjust the water shader option in View^^.

    Glad to here that you may have a fix for the flicker problem ^^. I stated previously... And with my 'shader' folder renamed 'shader_' had no effect on the flicker as noted. However this morning when I logged into game (using pre_RC8) I noticed that the EL time was 3:25. At this time the outside EVTR Map had no ground flicker and I still had 'cellar and 'cave' flicker. Then the EL sunset (3:30) and I began to see flicker on the outside EVTR Map! Don't no if this is significant or not but thought that it might be helpful info. EDIT: On EVTR Map - At precisely 0:30 EL time (sun rise) the above ground flickering stopped!! However flickering continues in the 'cellar; and 'ancient cave/tunnels'. Everything else seems fine^^. Note that the 'Water Shader Quality' feature is stuck at '0' - cant seem to adjust it. Everything else works in View Options tho. EDIT: No above ground elements are flickering on other MAPs during daylight hours.

    Renamed my 'shader' folder as 'shader_' then restarted my pre_RC8 client. Flicker still present.

    Regarding Ground elements flashing; I have all my graphics/video options enabled for previous RCx versions. RC8 is giving me ground element flashing in the EVTR "cellar" and "cave" but not in the above ground. I disabled the frame buffer (and VBO) with no effect. I then re-enabled these then tried turning off reflections and water shaders option off...this too had no effect on the flashing anomaly in these locations.

Driver Version: 8.380.0.0 Driver Date: 5/17/2007 No RC8 crashes so far however I'm getting major "flashing" from ground patches. EDIT: My FPS was set at 40...I increased FPS to 100 which seemed to help the flashing some what but did not eliminate it - the flashing seems related to FPS imo. EDIT: Game running real smooth ^^ but flashing from ground elements a big distraction EDIT: In EVTR Map the outside ground elements are not flashing...however the "cellar under the inn" and the EVTR cave ground elements are still flashing. EDIT: The EVTR to KUSAMURA MAP crash (runtime) has been fixed ^^ EDIT: Been using RC8 for over an hour with no NPC or harvesting issues .

Giving up. EDIT 1 - Runs with the "el main --use_animation_program=0" ^^ EDIT 2 - Wow - this version runs smooth - I'll explore EDIT 3 - C1 seems OK. Moving from Map to Map that is. EDIT 4 - When moving from "EVTR Map" to "Kusamura Map" I experienced a RUNTIME ERROR and RC6 crashed. When I try to restart RC6 several times afterwards however I encounter "RUNTIME ERROR" and RC6 crashes after the log in part. Nothing in Error.log either. EDIT 5 - The only way to bypass the RC6 runtime error on restart is to move my Character onto another map using my 1.5.0 client. Then exit 1.5.0 client and then I'm able to run RC6. EDIT 6 - I encountered another runtime error when moving from "Willowvine Cave" to "Kusamura" . Again, the only way that I'm able to continue with RC6 is to do the same step as in EDIT 5. So far this is the only type of problem I've encountered. Will continue.

    We've been running the patch on a low/hi end PC and so far everything looks very good actually ^^. However, we are running with Sound disabled.
  21. Roja suggested that I disabled the sound effects and see if I could recreate the problem; I did so and COULD NOT recreate the problem. Roja also suggested updating my sound card driver, which i did. I went back onto the test server as was able to reproduce the same problem with the sound effects enabled. I concur...I have no issues with any other sound (so far) or even during the fight.
  22. Oops. I actually wanted your sound card details (this is a sound problem, not graphics). Sorry about that Torq...; PC: Pentium 4 - 3.2GHz PC RAM: 3.27 GHz, 1 Gig. Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS WDM Driver Date: 12/8/2005 Driver Version: 5.12.8.1164 Note: I'm running with ALL graphics and sound special effects turned ON. I continue to roam and fight stuff...and yes I can recreate my previous conditions. During the fight everything is working well up until i hear the creatures 'battlecry' (which I think is the last sound to be heard at the conclusion of the fight). Then all the actors on the screen move very slow, rotating camera is slow, I begin seeing a number if 'resyncs to server occuring' and shortly afterwards the client crashes. Like before I can resolve the problem by beaming out of that map...game seems to restore and seems nominal.

They shouldn't be occuring like this unless maybe you have been using the client for several hours and that was the complete error log (therefore only a couple of errors every 5 mins). We should move this discussion to the Programming forum. Can you please post some more details about your OS, sound card and driver version in the NEW_SOUND thread over there. Driver Version: 8.380.0.0 Driver Date: 5/17/2007 I had been running the RC3 for less than 20 minutes after I installed it. RC3 was running great until I walked into the South Cave in MM and started killing Male and Female Gobs (refer Post#94). After each client crash, I would restart the game (while still in the cave) and I would experience a series of "resync's to server" cases and then after about a minute of this the client woulld crash. I tried this about 5 times with the same results. I decided to restart the game again and this time immediately "beamed" to IP...the "resync's to server" stopped and the game seemed to run "normal" again. I'm continuing to walk around the Maps and plan to go back to the MM's south cave to see if I can recreate this "condition" again.
  24. Windows RC 3

    Installed the new RC3 and sound files. This went well. Had to create the EL.INI first by starting EL and then going back to the EL.INI file to edit the #data_dir thingy. I noticed that the #enable_sound= 8 had to be changed to #enable_sound= 1. I think the '8' might be wrong. All the sounds "sound" great!! I've listed my last err.log for reference; please note the "Bad light (number 3)..." comment in the last line...not sure if significant.
