  1. Then I would just wear gloves, like when harvesting suplhur !!

well maybe that could be a feasable deterrent for that being as it'd b such a low item but instead could burn the gloves effectively ruining them (not sure how hard that part would be to impliment though)

    1. Harvesting events are made to prevent afk harvesting. Since you can't manu AFK, it's not the point here.

well marcoers if they've put alittle work into it can b afk while manuing (just taking the point from all the threads i found while searching) at least u could make them pay for it - not being careful even making may of the small items w/ those randoms could eventually kill some1

    3. What about positive events (OK we have them now: special items, enriched ess, etc.), but there can be more. For example, no special item for HE now, and neither for most of the potions (except SR and BR).

ps. What about a special ("enriched") feasting potion, which not only raises your food level to max (even from -30), but it would sustain it for a minute, no matter that you manu or not.

i was thinking that if this was implimented it would give reasons to make specials on more of the items so some of the others are made more too - maybe if the devs could say that this had a good chance of being implimented maybe we could get the artistic types to help w/ the art - and like essences that the enriched would have no purpose right away i think that would leave room for more spells/items (if used for manu purposes like crafting) that could later be implimented continuing the process of making a more robust selection of things to do (more spells to cast/more items to make) improving things even more

but i think maybe just sustaining the food lvl for a 30sec-1min would be enough for the "enrichment" personally because even at -30 it would still hold it at 20 for that long and w/ no significant wait time on manu would be plenty and could get alot done

and as far as the market that's part of y i offered the suggestion of adding the neg perk w/ this idea to go w/ artificer because fighters would take this perk for the PPs but then would pretty much buy everything they wanted that couldn't b found in a drop keeping a market open for the items they use HEs SRs BRs because they wouldn't want to make any of it themselves - or it'd just become a widely unused perk like hellspawn (from every1 i've talked to - i sure wouldn't get it, the description alone turned me off of it...lol) but i think it would get used more than that i think

    oh and on a sidenote:

As for the suggestion, I must say first up that of your comments in other suggestions threads, and threads you've made, alot of them haven't seemed very well thought through, or you haven't looked for reasons they were already rejected. This one on the other hand I think rocls. I really like it.

well being a borderline insomniac that hits these boards when i can't sleep and im temporarily bored in the game doing what i was doing or something of the like - i can see how i could sometimes come off as scattered..lol and the market thread i did search and still think that w/ alittle effort it could be made feasable to have an NPC economy for the reasons i stated then - and i don't know much about the programming aspect currently so i couldn't first post anything but the end results (a mechanic doesn't tell an architect how to draw the house up - just how he wants it to look when finished - same principle here i figured)

but this is actually only the 2nd topic i've ever created on this board (the first 1 well yeah that was a mistake but a partly encouraged 1 - though i did get ambitious and pushed that through on the spur of the moment...lol)

and most of my comments won't b well thought out they'll just b what i happen to think while i read the post i'm not going to sit and ponder for a single comment - talk to me in chat or in person i usually don't think as i talk either - am just an honest person and simply say what's on my mind as i think it (in most cases alittle caution finds it's way in there somehow) ok i'm rambling i'll stop now...lol but thank u for the final comment..lol

/edit was using 2 tabs to make this and forgot to combine them...lol

  2. i've searched and haven't found nething w/ this idea (though i did find alot on anti- macroing w/ random events)

about a week ago i reset my char. and after i got back to where i could mine i started making bars and for the last 4 DAYS RL i've finally been killed mining because i would only mine a tiny bit alch a bar mine a tiny bit alch a bar eat repeat hardly getting any random events at all and there are times i've spent time making 5k ESS eating meat just a clickfest while watching TV same w/ pots too - and manu/alch/pot do have random events but only positive 1's and only on certain items - i think for more fun and alittle more realism (accidents happen) that there should b negative randoms (and maybe make the positive 1's alittle easier in trade for adding risk)

i think this could be balanced by skill lvl:

    ALCH

low level stuff like essences - FEs for example could give sulphur burns on u'r hands during creation taking a few dammage enough to make u nurse it but hardly enough to kill u other essences essences could become adidic in the mixing smarting more all the way to mercury poisoning (DEs) which could kill you if ur not careful

higher lvl stuff like bars - lets face anything using FEs COULD explode causing serious dammage and even death if u'r not careful/ lucky/ very high lvl

    POTS

pots could have varying effects through the realization of bad items that not only ruin the potion (lost ingredients) could also create gasses (go poof) that could have varying effects from a sneezing fit (low lvl) to completely noxious gas that could kill u (magic pots and/or other high lvl pots)

    MANU

low lvl (clothes & leather that requires needle) could prick your finger - it smarts but would in no way kill you

mid lvl (things requiring a hammer or FEs) could smash your hand w/ ur hammer by accident or could burn urself while working w/ metal (more serious) but both would stop and make u tend to u'r wounds and stop and think a min about how that hurt

high lvl (things made w/ EFEs) lets face it EFEs are inriched are hotter and more volitile - they could very well explode possibly killing you and i don't know are serp stones poisonous?

i haven't thought of any for crafting because i have no experience at all in crafting (not intersted) but i'm sure positive and negative perks could be made for these as well like maybe u didn't use as much of a metal for a positive random (keeping half of the bars or whatnot - never even read up on it) and lets face it hot metal burns if u'r not careful even gold

i think this would add a good bit of exitement to the game - maybe slow down the mass producers and maybe even help the economy (god knows if i risked my life to make a serp or something i'd want to be paid WELL for it especially if i died 1ce and lost my stuff) but i think in exchange for this risk the special items (extra healing, mana, whatever pots, modable weapons and enriched essences) should have a greater chance of being made - maybe double current and double that for artificer - and could add a clumsy neg perk increasing the chance of the bad randoms happening

as a player who does many things in the game i think this would make things more exiting and fun

for mass producers and the like i already know they won't like it

but all in all it would help create more inclusive gameplay other than just a clickfest and would add more challenge to the manufacturable skills it'd definately make me pay more attention

thats what i have thought of so far - let the bashing/ changes begin

  3. but then... low levels are stuck with certain prices for the week. and high levels have to mine a decade to get ALL of it done. I think this won't work in EL. too many flaws and an Alt. way to sell/gain exp.

well the way i read the origional idea it would b something optional to do not mandatory and most high lvl chars have a high harvest skill to go w/ it so that things harvest faster and have a harvest cloak and have guilds to help them (could lead to even more guild co-operation and more fun for guilds) and so what if it's another way to gain exp? that's part of the game , i just reset a bit ago and when i planned to start i spent about a week doing nothing but making bars while mining ore for exp and it could at least b a sink for stuff like that instead of either me selling all those bars at 1ce or finish making enough to give every1 in my guild plate w/ a guild drive for other materials .

i think it would b beneficial for the game especially if/when trollson's take on it could b integrated into it to join it so it's not only drudgery but at least the drudgery is a start to give ppl another reason to do stuff - keeping stuff happening in the game

  4. well i agree that thats how it SHOULD be done but u have kids here who:

    1) aren't patient enough to search more than a word or 2 - hell i'm an adult i have few ideas that i think r even worth posting because they're more personal wishes to make my life easier not that would necessarily enhance gameplay for most if not all that's y i've only drudged up the "is this a market?" thread because i believe a more stable NPC economy will fix the dying player economy especially since the current system can b exploited in pry even more ways than i know and do (i love getting free PoFs from mira w/ just a little work) but i'm straying here (i've been up all night give me a break...lol) nor patient enough to think it through - they get an idea even a wishlist idea they wanted it implimented yesturday

    2) don't understand game mechanics and think all things are possible because they don't know any better most of the younger players playing don't understand how programs work even on a basic lvl or theyd already b teaching themselves C/C++ causing trouble in IRC chat....lol

i'm just playing devil's advocate here trying to bring these points to mind

maybe another option is in the forum grouping members by age and putting an age limit here maybe that would help or d/l the style of this forum break it down to HTML and have those "rules" derin posted above where it reminds you to read the rules for this forum that way every time some1 loads the page they show maybe that would be a deterrent as well but just closing them is just going to create more threads like this by people who don't understand exactly y these posts are being closed so quick - i'm just trying to help find a solution that will help every1

  5. thats y i think when ppl give up in thier search and post anyway the mods who know the board ALOT better could help out in that capacity

I agree that on some topics its actually hard to find the other posts, but to just leave this up to the mods to handle is both lazy and wasting more of their time.

You could offer to be the "find previous topic" assistant if you like... ;-)

    /edit: meh.

actually, when i have seen a topic b4 pertaining to the same thing i have been known to put a link in there or if it pertains to it at all already but i can't because eventhough i search i don't search every concievable word like Aislinn does - i'm too lazy i give up after 2 or 3 words and several posts

    EDIT: that's when i get to them b4 they're closed..lol

People give up on their search?

    They either:

    1. Don't search at all

    2. Use one word and give up.

When I search, I try all sorts of combinations of words, and synonyms...Of course we don't all think the same. I can spend up to half an hour on one search. But it is pretty lame to expect the mods to do your work for you. If you want to be taken seriously (and your suggestions too), show us you care enough to put some effort into the search first and know what's going on and why.

well all i can do is tip my hat to u - i don't even try that hard - i put due effort but im not going to spend HOURS researching reading every thread even close to my idea after a half hr or so (depending on how fast u read) should be more than enough but players are just offering their 2¢ to try to help make the game better the way they see it if u ask most of them theyre doing a favor to the game instead of just finding a better game and taking their friends w/ them (how else do u think so many ppl r here from RS? :  ) and other games im 1 of a few who found this game actually looking for it but i've been bringing ne friend i can here to play that i'm taking away from other games - instead of acting like u'r doing them a favor letting them post here - y not take into consideration that they're just trying to help? when they could b looking for other games instead - im not trying to b rude or disrespectful or nething, but simply trying to remind that the thought works both ways - as proof if it didn't this thread would never have been created

  6. i agree that if u'r going to close a topic for it being repeated plenty of times at least put a link to the previous post that IS NOT closed or had reasons y something cannot b implimented because it's not always easy to think of keywords to old topics u don't know exist that are general enough because most ppl have their specific spin of the idea in mind i think it'd be easier for mods and newer players alike

I don't see how its difficult, just use words relating to it? Or what the idea is called?

because if u type say "market" u get sever different things that have NOTHING to do w/ ur idea and sometimes when u do get to 1 its so far in that u spent like 30-45 min searching - like when i brought back up the"is this a market?" thread it took me a half hr to find and there r players (especially younger 1's) that don't have that kind of patience thats y i think when ppl give up in thier search and post anyway the mods who know the board ALOT better could help out in that capacity making iteasier on them in the longrun because a search would help those closer threads show more and the end result would most likely b that in searching ppl don't just give up so it might be used more and in both instances could help produce fewer posts on the same subjects

  7. As a starting point (apart from a couple of details), this would be a good addition. However, looking in the longer term...

What you are talking about is a random quest generator. This would be a very significant advancement for EL, but is not a trivial problem.

Quests of the form "bring me X of Y" are not very challenging, and somewhat same-y -- just more grind and trudgery, and favoring high-EMU characters in the examples described.

You need something more -- problem resolution, search and discover, ask questions (requires local area conversations with NPCs to be implemented). At the same time, without introducing bias for particular professions, or penalise non-English speakers.

i agree w/ this but see 1 problem w/ it. currently there aren't enough NPCs in the game to make that many random problem solving quests at this current time but putting the drudgery quests at least would be a start untill more NPCs are made. but to stop favoring high emu chars maybe the quests generated could take a players physique and coordination into account in generating the numbers of the random item that is needed keeping it a challenge for lower and higher lvl players alike keeping it a fair challenge for all then when there are more NPCs in the game maybe then story writers could make quests to throw in there w/ the drudgery randoms to keep things interesting

  8. i think those values would need to be balanced, especially for 1 pickpoint and it should b a fair deal harder than 500 iron ore to get maybe like 2k iron ore or 500 iron bars maybe 5-10k roses something that would take a week to do and would invest some time if it was too easy then it would be like a freebie like getting gc is currently right now u don't even really have to work for it just start picking flowers chat and surf for a tiny bit go sell them come back and go back to what u were doing - and imho something for nothing detracts from the game not adds to it

  9. Also, they have me in it

w/ u'r signature sora, is that supposed to b an attraction or a deterrent for ppl to join us?...lol j/k

also the load isn't squarely on viss u can contact me as well if interested :)

these guys can b a cut up they keep it interesting sometimes for the ranking members but i wouldn't trade the bunch so far for nething

EDIT:all honorable players are encouraged to join no scammers or bag jumpers or other undesirables - this is NOT a PK guild so if u'r looking for wars and the like this isn't the guild for u but otherwise we look to hear from u :)

  10. i agree that if u'r going to close a topic for it being repeated plenty of times at least put a link to the previous post that IS NOT closed or had reasons y something cannot b implimented because it's not always easy to think of keywords to old topics u don't know exist that are general enough because most ppl have their specific spin of the idea in mind i think it'd be easier for mods and newer players alike

  11. Maybe the HUD in wide screen configuration could have more information on it . . .

the only way that would b fair to users of desktops w/ regular monitors is if that extra information didn't pertain at all to gameplay like maybe artist or copyright information about certain things but any extra pertaining to gameplay would put regular users (maybe even some paying users) at a disadvantage

  12. Third idea are faith (gods) stones (was kinda suggested before):

    - priests of each gods should be able to sell 'god stones' - a stone will contains a blessing from that god, and a person would be able to use it anywhere

    - however it will costs 10 times more that regular blessing and will need serp stone exchanged for it,

    Limits:

    - they won't be stackable,

    - only people that are worshiping god can use a stone bought/came from that god (so they can be traded to other gods worshipers/godless people, but they simply won't be able to use them)

    - blessings are NOT accumulative,

    Pro:

    - cash outflow (?)

    - serp stones outflow - maybe it will make them 'rare' stones again (also should raise their market price)

    - it will add more tactics into fights (maybe summoners will fight more often) tongue.gif

    - new possibilities for other skills (when you can take blessing anywhere)

on the first part on the stones there would be no reason for them to be traded TO only FROM (for example if u get PK'd they sell u'r stones back to u or some1 of the same religion so the trading would only work 1 way) i think to make it more interesting have the stones only b able to b picked up by ppl of the same religion(s) would maybe help bring more summoners on the maps

but as far as summonors there are other reasons u don't see many summoners because they're useless in mass wars or nething else where allied guilds r together u would have to work on summons killing allies more about that on this thread:

    http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=23110

  13. actually i like the idea though i think itd take a bit of work to impliment because:

    1) players would need bodies like animals along w/ their db maybe at best a simple graphic like a pile of bones w/ the name changing to body of (player) so there would be something to click on to activate the spell - but bagjumping still wouldnt have to b illegal u kill a player or a player dies u should b able to take the bag just like u would an animal (still wouldnt b nice if u did but still thats 1 of the points of the game)

    2) i dont think players should get NEAR full material points they should b resurrected w/ low hp like maybe just over what theyd have when they died at most maybe an 8th or a quarter

    3) shouldnt require so many essences though alot maybe something closer to 2DEs 5LEs 2HEs (lower HP) and 5MEs but should use like maybe 5 or 6 sigils like maybe death life health matter change global and i agree should be a high lvl spell like maybe lvl 30 or 40 or maybe could also b a use for earth essences somewhere in the spell to bring them into the game

    4) that spell especially should have a time delay of over 2 seconds maybe closer to 10 secs or 30 sec/ per player being revived if it could b somehow put on the player that would help against revive/kill causing unnecessary drain on the server

i think if it was done like that it might b more feasable but i do agree w/ learner on this 1 full HP is too good it should have its limitations

  14. i'm interested too (even PMed u about it) but i just thought of a question is there a way to edit the prices (either editing a/the file in notepad or something simple like that im not versed in any laguages that r still used...lol - used to play w/ the old old basic but that's about it (and that's basic basic not basica or qbasic just to show u how old...lmao)) as some1 who sells stuff and does keep tabs on the market here and there if there's not currently maybe u could make u'r program alittle more complex and make a way for it like maybe making a config file where u can edit the prices in notepad or something of the like nothing too fancy just maybe instructions w/ it so ppl who know even less than me could do it

  15. while i understand this idea and agree w/ everything to a point (it would be nice) i would like to point out a few things:

    1) like ttlanhil stated earlier they're short of coders, i've even seen ads in game where Roja was asking for coding help for any programers that know C and are familiar w/ OpenGL i wish i knew C because this game in Beta has ALOT of potential and is alot of fun and because as a freelancer and this is a partially paid game there might even be a small financial reward as well but the fact remains that there are many other things they're working onfor the game and i'd imagine they're probably stretched thin neway though i don't doubt that this will come it's more a matter of how long

    2) w/ the short tracks and the likemusic is not something that could just b churned out endlessly it's an art and takes creativity and like all arts is by no means easy for anything ppl would like to listen to i agree they should be longer and when 1 or more of the songwriters get the inspiration there will probably be longer songs but as an idea instead of just complaining about the songs y not ask roja or 1 of the devs when u see them advertise something how u could submit a song of u'r creation or a friend's (w/ their permission) to improve it i'm sure they'd b happy to listen and maybe even apply it giving u (or u'r friend) credit for it

i just thought i'd remind ppl of that and thank the DEVs for the job they're doing and remind them that they're appreciated even if they don't feel they are sometimes

  16. oh yeah that's all well and good for those higher lvl players who take from the lower lvl players w/o much of a challenge (good way to run off players by the way GOOD JOB!!! :) ) if u ask me it's a good idea GIVING exp so the low lvl players have a place to train, maybe w/ less exp w/ no risk of even other player that u choose to fight w/ getting ur bag, but a good place to spar -

Oh yeah!!! I forgot, we had the magic button on OUR character creation screen that let us start the game at "higher levels". So sorry, my mistake.

Seriously, if you want to just fill out an application to receive experience, just come out and say it.

well u fail to take into account that there were fewer players playing when a few of the higher players were playing as this game was and still is growing in popularity and exposure so there was LESS risk then but as more and more players have leveled it gets harder and harder on the new guy because there's more and more higher lvl players meaning more and more chances to get killed w/o getting ANY exp - if u want to go that route y don't we slowly start putting gobs and fluffy rabits on IP it's about the same difference

Seriously.. Everyone of the fighters with higher stats had to face dangers, and face being pk'd to get where they are now, why should it be any different now? A/D is too easy too lvl without the challenge of avoiding pk during pvp. Bad idea.....

well there r ways to fix that u could half the exp in those situations to make it harder to lvl because some1 could achieve the result of homing and healing an animal or monster and that's not much different but the younger players need at least a fighting chance of NOT being PKd w/ more and more players getting higher and higher giving the newer ppl less and less of a chance the later they find this game.

  17. oh yeah that's all well and good for those higher lvl players who take from the lower lvl players w/o much of a challenge (good way to run off players by the way GOOD JOB!!! ) if u ask me it's a good idea GIVING exp so the low lvl players have a place to train, maybe w/ less exp w/ no risk of even other player that u choose to fight w/ getting ur bag, but a good place to spar - personally i like the 2nd idea (of a permission system) of his better and that could b instituted on all arenas (leaving PK maps to rely on ur luck that some1 bigger doesnt pick on u because they cant fight ne1 thier own lvl) because that would allow the person u fight to b able to take ur db for a prize just (EDIT)doesnt(/EDIT) allow some1 else comming up and stealing from u while ur trying to recover because the only open spot was far away from the exit - thats what the PK maps r for thats wild all goes terrain arenas even way back when were for sport and were somewhat civilized compared to an all out all goes everybody against everybody war so i like his idea of the permission system

  18. the problem w/ the origional prices wasn't that the NPCs bought over cost it was that the NPCs never stopped buying and kept buying at the same price - an instock supply and demand system should have been added rather that cutting the economy's throat by messing up the prices to b unrealistic - we see this model fail everywhere in the real world where ever there's rent control u create artificial prices it can ONLY cause problems somehow there needs to b added that the NPCs only carry so much in stock and/or based on how many items are in stock affect the prices if the NPCs have hardly any of an item they should buy for more and sell for MUCH more if they have bunches of an item in stock (which they should stop buyint at a certain point) then they should pay next to nothing for it and sell it cheap that in itself would control the flow of money into the game the NPC prices being they way they are players have no way to dump what they're selling so they can go about their business so instead they cut prices to get the sale done so they can go about their business if the NPCs had an in-stock system like mentioned above (even if it just bought and cut of at a certain limit and slowly items left that inventory say like 5/hr (RP NPCs r selling to other NPCs) and/or tracked what was bought worse case scenario is some1 would have to wait to dump to the NPC when they could get SOMETHING for themit would stop ppl from making thousands of any 1 item because they wouldnt b able to get them sold right away easily so they would make to sell or use/ what they could and go do something else and would do sooo many things to benefit the economy that the difference would be like night and day - the only other option is to take the NPCs out completely that sold anything that players can make then the economy would get worse for awhile but after awhile even the very young players would learn that that didn't work very well and prices would rise back to something negotiable but if u did that that'd mean flower shops (a main source of gold for ALOT of players old and new alike ive seen ppl w/ almost 200 material points harvesting blue lupines) would have to b gotten rid of and any1 that bought any harvestables and they'd have to b put on the player market and subject to supply and demand as well - either option would work but the latter would take alot of ppls interest in the game away because itd become even more difficult to make a buck for awhile the first option of having the prices make sense again and adding an in-stock option i think would be the best solution and would fix this collapsing economy - untill then i for 1 will continue to sell at whatever price i have to that i can make anything off of and exploit the current price system's flaws in order to make my way financially

  19. I am on Learners side in this matter now. The market is player led and as such its the players responsibility to fix it, not the devs.

You dont like the price of efe? dont sell it for a low price then. If someone else is offering it at a low price, buy it.

When i had a bit of cash i kept the price of efe up for a couple of days simply by stating I am buying efe for 3kgc and reselling them for 5kgc,

and instantly the price went up over those few days....

Those of you that DO have cash to spend need to keep the prices up using a similar method, then players will no longer be selling quite as cheap if they think you will resell the stuff you buy from them at the profit THEY should be making....

Your market, do something about it....

    - PYE

i juat have to ask this and what r u going to do when uve spent 2 weeks trying to sell that EFE and have bought 20 of those EFE and still arent selling any? - most players arent interested in wasting that kind of time they want their stuff sold so the NPC economy needs to be balanced so those players can dump the things they dont want to waste all that time on - and if they want a completely player based economy they should get rid of the NPCs buying and selling items that players can make for sale plain and simple, i say take them out or fix them
