tutorial quest series - intro to potions

I'm doing the tutorial NPC quests on a new alt. I got to the part when the tutorial NPC sends me to Portia to do her first two potions lessons. The second lesson is to make a potion of reasoning. In order to complete the potion of reasoning and continue the tutorial quest you need to get one vegetal nexus. It doesn't seem to me that the tutorial quest series should require you to spend pickpoints on a nexus. I suspect this was unintentional.

 

edit: As of now potions is the end of the tutorial so I could have skipped it but it appears that more is planned for the future.
