BP Cloak

Recommended Posts

I did a search first, and didn't find anything about it.

Someone told me BP cloak only works on players, and not on critters. Anyone heard similar or different? Anyone with definite info who can answer?

[20:52:55] [elveron @ 6]: drops like the bp cape i just got! (replaces the one an ogre broke during invasion yesterday!)

[20:53:14] [l33t @ 6]: why wear bp capes fighting monsters without armor?

[20:53:48] [elveron @ 6]: i was wearing armor yesterday during invasion.

[20:54:22] [elveron @ 6]: ow

[20:54:25] [l33t @ 6]: yes, but the bonus of bp cape is it bypasses opponents armor...if your opponent has no armor it doesn't do anything iirc

[20:54:50] [birdcamp @ 6]: i was wearing armor i got 5 hits on a black dragon :) me 5 hits :o and i killed a yeti with 100hp :o pron00b

[20:54:58] [Walt_Her @ 6]: isn't it like creating a crit hit?

[20:55:00] [elveron @ 6]: i'm not sure how useful bp cape is, but i was also hitting phantoms, skellys, whatever yesterday

[20:55:07] [NeCrOfEaR @ 6]: i pwnd the ice dragon y'day

[20:55:46] [Walt_Her @ 6]: they are good for pw hunting i think

[20:55:57] [elveron @ 6]: i pwned 1 of the blackies, too. couldn't damage it, but i said nasty things about its mother.

[20:57:30] [l33t @ 6]: Body Piercing "Increase the chance of bypassing the opponent's armor by 10%" which i would assume means if your opponent wears armor u have 10% chance to hit

[20:57:39] [l33t @ 6]: and not have armor stop some damage

[20:57:54] [HaZe @ 6]: but work on mobs

[20:58:12] [l33t @ 6]: so mobs have an armor rating too?

[20:58:19] [HaZe @ 6]: yes

[20:58:21] [HaZe @ 6]: ^^

[20:58:22] [ketiana @ 6]: monsters have an armor component regardless if they are wearing armor or not...try Lenny with and w/o a bp cape

[20:58:42] [HaZe @ 6]: for example sometimes i hitting yeti 1-10, sometimes(30-35 - crictics)

[20:59:05] [HaZe @ 6]: and last time with bp i hit black dragon 103 dmg (bronze+fire arrow)

[20:59:07] [l33t @ 6]: wether or not they actually have armor on :) kk i was under impression that it helped on orcs only cause they are armd

[20:59:28] [HaZe @ 6]: normal...crictic on dragon with my att and bronze+fire arrow = joke?

[21:01:44] [Celace @ 6]: so you managed to hit a black dragon.. with the acc penalty of arrows..

[21:01:57] [l33t @ 6]: with pots and bronze i can see it:)

[21:02:07] [HaZe @ 6]: high critical to hit from bronze sword

[21:02:09] [Celace @ 6]: bronze hasnt great acc :/

[21:02:17] [HaZe @ 6]: rotfl

[21:02:40] [Celace @ 6]: whats funny? oO

[21:02:46] [rauch @ 6]: +5cth/+6ctd from bronze though

[21:02:55] [HaZe @ 6]: you know "critical to hit"?

[21:02:55] [l33t @ 6]: and +5 acc

[21:03:04] [Celace @ 6]: i know, but compared to cutlass, bronze acc is kinda low

[21:03:20] [HaZe @ 6]: you can hit dragon with 10 attack

[21:03:28] [rauch @ 6]: acc is uninteresting on drag (almost), cth is interesting

[21:03:32] [birdcamp @ 6]: rofl

[21:03:40] [HaZe @ 6]: when critical to hit you must hit

[21:03:43] [birdcamp @ 6]: attack 10 on a dragon

[21:03:44] [HaZe @ 6]: cutlass to low dmg on dragon

[21:03:45] [Celace @ 6]: of course its interesting rauch

[21:03:58] [rauch @ 6]: not that much, Celace

[21:03:59] [HaZe @ 6]: true rauch

[21:04:02] [birdcamp @ 6]: i was using thermy how bout that?

[21:04:20] [elveron @ 6]: iron thermy?

[21:04:23] [Celace @ 6]: come watch me take down a dragon, i'll show you acc is important

[21:04:35] [rauch @ 6]: thermy has same acc/cth/ctd like bronze, birdcamp

[21:04:37] [Walt_Her @ 6]: thats crittical if it breaks

[21:04:37] [birdcamp @ 6]: no titanium serp thermy

[21:04:51] [HaZe @ 6]: if you have about 140-150 att and max p/c/r it is very important

[21:04:52] [birdcamp @ 6]: still got me 4 hits

[21:04:53] [elveron @ 6]: rich.

[21:04:56] [birdcamp @ 6]: or 5

[21:04:58] [jaclaw @ 6]: i'll show you that sword isn't importand

[21:05:03] [Celace @ 6]: lol :)

[21:05:06] [l33t @ 6]: why do monsters have an armor rating without armor...but we don't?

[21:05:19] [elveron @ 6]: natural aemor

[21:05:22] [HaZe @ 6]: and if we talk abour red/black

[21:05:26] [Walt_Her @ 6]: its all in the skin/fur

[21:05:26] [birdcamp @ 6]: ask radu :P

[21:05:49] [ketiana @ 6]: Because monsters can't manu or purchase armor

[21:06:10] [Walt_Her @ 6]: and only dwarf have enough fur'ed skin to talk about armour

[21:06:18] [rauch @ 6]: cth is what gives you the high damage on monsters, ctd gives dmg too, but less, and acc is for normal hits

[21:06:19] [Celace @ 6]: "[rauch @ 6]: acc is uninteresting on drag (almost),""[HaZe @ 6]: true rauch""HaZe @ 6]: if you have about 140-150 att and max p/c/r it is very important"

[21:06:25] [Celace @ 6]: i missed something? :/

[21:06:35] [l33t @ 6]: but some creatures do have armor, some dont...like armed skellies, gobs, orcs

[21:06:47] [HaZe @ 6]: if you have att enought on dargon you can hitting "normal" so acc is important

[21:06:48] [jaclaw @ 6]: haze's showing off only :P

[21:06:57] [Celace @ 6]: iirc monsters which are "armed" do have armor

[21:06:58] [HaZe @ 6]: if you have for example my attack i hitting only critical to hit

[21:06:59] [Celace @ 6]: others dont

[21:07:08] [rauch @ 6]: Celace, if you have high enough a/d to hit drag normaly, accuracy is cool

[21:07:17] [Celace @ 6]: exactly

[21:07:20] [rauch @ 6]: if you have not, cth/ctd is important

[21:07:23] [l33t @ 6]: that would make sense celace...and make me feel less noob about asking

[21:07:25] [HaZe @ 6]: yes

[21:07:31] [HaZe @ 6]: but i think only cth rauch

[21:07:33] [Celace @ 6]: whats the point trying to take down a dragon with just cth//ctd?

[21:07:47] [jaclaw @ 6]: showing off ?:P

[21:07:48] [Celace @ 6]: sorry, i dont really get it even for invasions

[21:07:50] [HaZe @ 6]: thermal + mirror

[21:07:52] [rauch @ 6]: no point in there, just for the fun in it or sth like that

[21:08:11] [Celace @ 6]: the fun of using 85 dis ring \o/

Don't have time to fully edit it atm :P but it touches on the subject somewhere there...

Yes, BP cape works on critters, too. With the BP cape I'm scoring considerably more high damage hits on creatures (like critical to damage hits, which is basically the same thing as bypassing armor, imo).

It only works vs something that has armour (its more noticeable vs something with higher armour, as opposed to toughness)... works very well with phantoms.

Yep.

Most (if not all) creatures from Feros up have an armor bonus, BP makes a difference for killing them.

That does clarify the issue guys, ty. One more question tho: Is a critical hit one that bypasses armor and therefore passes all damage along to player (minus toughness ofc)? That would mean the BP cloak description could simply state "Increases chance of critical hit by 10%."

The "critical-to-hit" chance is calculated just prior to the hit roll. When a person scores a critical-to-hit, they will hit their opponent, even if they only have 30 attack and their opponent has 120 defense.

The "critical-to-damage" chance is calculated prior to the damage roll. When a person scores a critical-to-damage, they will damage their opponent as though they were wearing no Armor. (Their opponents Toughness is still taken into account.)

So the BP capes description could say "critical-to-damage" :)
