Orochimaru Report post Posted July 19, 2006 There is no installer, just unpack the package somewhere and execute el.(yourarch).linux.bin If you use a distribution that uses the debain package management you can download *.deb archives from http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26703 install the packages you need with dpkg -i package.deb as root
SciYro Report post Posted July 20, 2006 depends what distribution you use. Odds are, you will have a distribution with a package managment system, in which case, just tell that system to install EL, otherwise just unpack and run as already stated. wage Report post Posted August 6, 2006 Because you're new, let's take it slow: Pls answer these questions: Did you read the MEPIS user guide (http://www.mepis.org/files/MEPIS%20User%20Guide.pdf)? If yes, did you follow the instructions on p. 48? If yes, did you find the eternal lands package after reloading the list of the packages? If yes, did you try to install it? If yes, what happened? Sorry that I can't help you any further atm, but I'm not using MEPIS. However, there seems to be a package manager that comes with MEPIS which is supposed to make installation of packages easier. So if there is a way to use the manager, you should do it. It's generally easier for beginners. If EL isn't listed among the packages, you'll have to install it manually. Before you try that, pls try the package manager. Anyway, you can also read posts in http://www.mepislovers.org/modules/newbb/v...587&start=0 http://www.mepislovers.org/modules/newbb/v...42d7eeee55ed401 , maybe they give you a clue about how to install EL on MEPIS. Ent seems to be quite enthusiastic about MEPIS as well: http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/lofiver...php/t13916.html (on the other hand... http://eternal-lands.blogspot.com/2006/05/...-on-linux.html) Maybe he can give you some advice about it (better than I could).
