Salathe

Recommended Posts

Salathe is a lizard, who only has 2 memories of his life before ending up at Trollsbane. One being an image

of a quite beautiful swamptown, full of lizards and one human family. And the other being

of it burnt down by demons. Salathe just one day woke up in the library next to Damien

and Loki, and all he had was his necklace and halberd. He lived in torment of his memories,

and mysteries of himself. One being his tounge. It was shortened, and he does not know

why, and it kills him not to know. Salathe made a living on the island, but soon he wanted

to know about his past, so he started going on small journeys, where he met some odd

types of people, one of which being drow. This is where his hatred for drow started. On

one of his journeys drow were taking over a small town, and Salathe stopped them from

doing it. But thats only one of the journies he was on. One day, Sevious Helios was going

on a journey back to Darishnia. Salathe had come along since he was heading in that

direction, and him being a lizard, he knows the quickest way there. But on the trip there,

they were attacked, and in the attacked Salathe was caugh off gaurd and he was stabbed

once and shot twice. With the second arrow hitting him, he fell off the boat, lifeless. When

he fell his halberd and necklace were lost at sea. Everyone thought he was dead... but he

wasnt he wasnt, he seemed to be... unconcious. Salathe woke up on a beach, he had no

idea what happened... once again he he had lost his memory, but not only his memory this

time, he had no mind, he could only feel simple things, such as touch. He couldnt see color,

his eyes were no longer blue, but grey. He couldnt see beauty, so he didnt enjoy sunsets,

or womens looks. He couldnt smell. He could barely taste. He only heard words, not

sounds. And he couldnt talk right, often people commented that he talked like an orc. But

what happened next, Salathe does not know, but he somehow found his way to a wizard,

and this wa the wizard that took his memory adn mind from him when he fell off the boat.

The wizard ahd taken his memory and put it into his halberd, and took his mind and put it

into his necklace. The wizard knew everything about Salathe, the reason he had done this

though, was because he was angered that Salathe lost his items from his hometown. Then

the next thing Salathe knew, was he was back on trollsbane, but he couldnt recognize

anyone even though they knew him. For a week or two he wandered around confused,

then he went in search of his two items, but he could only find his halberd. So now he

roamed around town with no mind. He stayed this way for about 2 months, until he finally

found out what happened to his necklace. After the battle on the boat, when he lost his

necklace, Veralion saw it in the water and he picked it up. But Veralion didnt know who it

belonged to, so he pawned it to some drow merchants. When Salathe heard this, he left

and went back to darishnia, and got his necklace back (that story will come later) So now

he went back to the wizard, and he found out the wizard was the one who took hi memory

from him, before he came to Trollsbane. So the wizard decided to place another game with

Salathe. Now Salathe has to collect a number of artifacts, and with each one, he regains a

little bit of his memory. And now, Salathe is leaving on that journey.

Salathe, once again standing in front of the shrine to Zelphia before leaving on another

journey, prays. After praying he thinks about all the things going on with him right now....

losing his money... slowly losing strength... and the worse of them all.... Malinnes death. So

he made one last sigh, and one last yawn. And he went to the east... to pay a visit to the

volcano known as Pyrin... which is occupied by a group of pyromancers... which will greet

him warmly... VERY warmly.

heh..... to bad no ones ever gonna read this

Salathe reaches the shores of an island. Not too big, but big enough to hold a large city, and a volcano. The volcano isnt much of a volcano anymore. Its more of broken mountain filled with lava. Salathe makes his way to the volcano.

After an hour or two he reaches the location of it. He takes out of his bag, a strap with shruikens (throwing stars for those of you that dont know) being held onto it, and he straps it across his chest. Salathe slings his backpack over one shoulder and he begins to enter the volcano.

His plan is the same as the drow cave, he will sneak in and out, atleast he will try to. When he comes to the giant opening, he walks in a few feet, but instead of going forward, he starts climbing the wall that leads to a ledge up top and he begins to walk across it. He looks down into the room, with streams and ponds of lava, and rocks sticking out, some flat, some pointy, some form a dome, some form half a dome. Salathe keeps looking, trying to spot a pyromancer.

He follows the path for a bit until he comes to a dead end. He looks down from the ledge and sees rock not too far down. So Salathe jumps onto the rock and continues his walk, while still trying to stay by the walls and in cover incase any one comes by. After a while Salathe figures all the pyromancers are somewher in the center of the volcano, since he hasnt seen any yet. So he puts his gaurd down for a little bit until he starts seeing carvings on the wall of people shooting flames, and holding firey weapons, such as whips and swords. Now Salathe puts his gaurd back up.

He continues walking through the cave and then he comes to a large large area with a gigantic lava pond. And in the center of the pond there is a large rock formation. But when Salathe looked closer he sees a entrance to it, and two statues at the entrance. Salathe figures this must be where they live. Salathe looks around some more and he sees flashes of light coming from a ledge up above and sees two pyromancers practicing there magic. Still looking he sees a large grove in the cave wall and sees a man smithing items. Salathe looks back to the pond of lava and sees a small narrow path that leads to the rock dome. Salathe looks at it, knowing that the artifact he needs must be inside there. The artifact that he needs is the firesword. Not just any firesword, THE firesword. Although the pyromancers have plenty of swords that arent made with metal, but fire, this one is different. Salathe doesnt yet know how, but he just knows it is, and he needs it.

Suddenly Salathe hears voices and he looks around and sees two pyromancers walking on the path to the rock dome. Salathe decides to get into a spot where he wont be seen, but before he can do anything he heres a loud "snap" next to his face, and warm air fills around him. And Salathe turns around and sees a pyromancer standing on a rock with a whipe made of fire.

"Halt!"

Yells the pyromancer

"What business have you here saurian!?

Salathe looks at the man and thinks for a second. He cant tell him his real reason. For the pyromancer must know of the firesword, since the pyromancers are the ones that made it. So Salathe looks at him thinking of what to do. Salathe knows its probably best not to say anything so he slowly moves his hand to his belt, the backside, and takes out a shruiken and brings his hand down, but still behidn his back. The pyromancer knows Salathe is up to something so he raises his whip for another slash, but Salathe quickly throws the shruiken and the pyromancer quickly drops to the ground trying to dodge it. The shruiken flies far over the pyromancers head, it wouldve missed him anyway. The pyromancer gets back to his feet and when he looks back down off the ledge Salathe was gone. Salathe quickly ran againt the wall of the lefge the pyromancer was on, hoping the pyromancer wouldnt look directly down, and luckily... he didnt. Salathe sighs with relief and then quickly looks around looking for a safespot he can always go too.

While looking up he sees the ceiling of the cave is quite deformed, and he sees a grove in the ceiling at a point where it comes down. So Salathe starts a trek, up to the grove in the ceiling of the cave.

After about an hour of walking against the wall of the cave on a very small ledge he reaches a spot at the ceiling of the tavern that comes down and has a small ledge on it where you can walk. Salathe slowly moves across it until he reaches the grove he saw from the ground. The grove isnt that big, but big enough for Salathe to stand and lay in. Salathe lays his pack down and takes out some bread and eats it. He looks over the edge to see the rock dome from above. Looking down he sees several open spots on the top of it where he could in from, but he only sees that one path that leads to it.

While looking down he thinks of a way to get in but he doesnt see any way besides going across that one path. Salathe sighs and looks up at the stalagmites that hang from the wall right infront of him. As he is looking at the deformed rocks hanging the ceiling he realizes another way to get into the dome. Salathe picks up his halberd and pulls out, what used to be a dagger, a shortsword. He puts his halberd down, and his pack, because they will be to encumberful.

Salathe sheaths the shortsword into a spot in his shruiken strap and climbs back down. When Salathe reaches the bottom he looks for the spot where he earlier saw the pyromancer smithing. Once he gets his eye on it, he looks around the wall for an entrance that could lead to it. At the bottom of the wall there is a spot where two torches hang on each side of an entrance. Salathe makes his way over to it. Once there, he looks around to see if there are any pyromancers, seeing none he runs in.

Salathe finds himself in a series of passageways. He sneaks around peering quickly into rooms, he sees rooms with weapons, and armor them, but he is looking for a room with tools. He reached a room where swords that have blades not of metal, but of fire. Salathe walks into the room to examine them. He picks some of the weapon off the wall and see how they feel. Salathe finds them quite interesting, and wonders how they are made. But while thinking about that, two pyromancers walk into the room. They look at Salathe and yell "Intruder!"

The pyromancers dont wait to talk. One of them quickly takes a firesword off the wall, and holds his left hand out and mumbles some words and a shield made of fire forms in his hand. The other pyromancer holds one hand infront of his chest and a fireball forms on his hand, he takes his other hand and puts it behind the fireball and he looks at Salathe. Salathe realizes what hes going to do and he drops the firesword hes holding and grabs a shell like figured shield and puts it in front of him. As Salathe was doing this the pyromancer pushes his hand forward and the fireball flies at Salathe. Salathe kneels down to one knee and slides back a little in recoil once the fireball hits the shield, with the impact the fireball is absorbed by the shield. The shield starts to glow red, then the fireball forms again in front of the shield and firesback at the pyromancer. When Salathe takes his head out from behind the shield and looks at the pyromancer he sees one standing there dazed and a charcoal black body laying against the wall. Salathe lets go of the shield with his right and unsheaths his sword. The pyromancers looks at Salathe angrily and charges at him and brings his sword down, Salathe brings his up deflecting the blow. Salathe pushes with his sword knocking the pyromancer back a little bit, and Salathe runs at him and slashes. The pyromancers blocks the attack with his shield brings his sword under his shield trying to stab Salathes stomach. Salathe jumps back just out its reach. The pyromancer charges again and throws another blow at Salathe. Salathe blocks it again, and he kicks the pyromancer back and the pyromancer falls to the ground. Salathe drops his sword and quickly takes three shruikens and throws them all at the pyromancer. With each hit the pyromancer jerks, and with the last one the pyromancer coughs some blood up then his fireshield dissapears.

Salathe picks his sword back up and sheaths is. And Salathe takes the shield with him, figuring he coud use a shield like this in the future. Salathe grins as he walks by the burnt pyromancer. Salathe finally comes to a room full of tools and supplies. He searches the room until he finds a long line of rope. He takes the rope and wraps it around his shoulder and he heads back to the grove in the ceiling

Once back to the grove, Salathe sets down the rope and digs back into his pack and eats his last supply of food. He takes his shortsword and puts it back in the bottom of his halberd. He takes the shield and latches it onto the back of his shruiken strap. Salathe picks the rope up and walks to the edge of the grove, takes one end the rope, looks at the stalagmite, and leaps out of the grove and grabs on to the stalagmite. The stalagmite wasnt quite as smooth as you would think, in many places were small trenches, this is where Salathe put the rope in. Once tightening the knot and the loop, he leps back to the grove, he slings his pack over his shoulder, and sticks his halberd in the spot that holds his sword. The he picks the rope up and drops it.

Salathe leaps and grabs the rope and starts climbing down. About 3 quarters of the way down, he sees a series of rocks in the lava, that lead from the back fo the dome, to the cave wall, where there is a small entrance, but then the rope begins to let loose. Once Salathe notices the looseness he quickly lets his grip loose and slides down. Once close enough for a fall he grabs back onto the rope, and with that the rope slips off the stalagmite and Salthe falls. Luckily Salathe didnt hurt anything. He gets up and starts walking toward the front of the rock dome. Once he got there he looked down at the entrance and dropped his pack next to the entrance. Once done there he heads back up top. He peers into each hole on the ceiling looking down at the small city they had made in the rock dome.

He sees one building that is larger than all the others. He heads over to that side of the dome. He reaches a small hole that is directly over top of the large building. Salathe assumes that if the firesword is anywhere, its there. So Salathe takes his shortsword out of his halberd, and takes the rope, and ties the rope around the short sword. He drops the shortsword so it lays ontop of the hole. Salathe drops the rope and climbs down hoping that the rope doesnt get cut.

Salathe looks down over the city from atop of the large building, and then starts to look for a way in. He sees a trapdoor on the roof and he walks to it, grabs the handle, and slowly lifts it and he peers inside. Looking in he sees a very nice room, with nice carpeting, lighting. It looked like something you would see in a castle. Salathe looks in to see if anyone was in the room. When seeing no one he jumps in. Immidiately he sees it, the firesword lay ontop of a pedestal. Salathe quickly walks up to it and picks it up. When he picks it up he feels light headed and like his mind is more open. Salathe sees the sheath for it also on the pedestal, he picks it up, sheaths the sword and then straps the sheath around his waist. Salathe looks up at the trap door, now wishing he dropped rope so he could climb back up. But now he will have to find a way out of this building, and a way past all the other buildings...

Salathe looks around the room and only sees one door, so he goes in. He tries and find his way through the building and he makes it into the lobby of the building where several pyromancers are. Salathe stops as he sees all of the pyromancers in the room. The pyromacers stop and look at Salathe, and for a few seconds nothing happens. Salathe looks at them and then quickly takes his halberd off his back and charges. Before any of the pyromancers can do anything Salathe has reached them. He jumps and kicks off the wall and bring his foot around knocks a pyromancer spinning into the air, he follows in with his halberd sweeping the floor and he knocks all the pyromancers to the ground.

While the pyromancers lay on the floor Salathe quickly takes this chance and runs out. He can see the exit from where he is, and he keeps running as numerous fireballs fly past his face. While running, one of the fireballs fly and hit his shield and Salathe is blown forward. As Salathe lay on the ground, his shield once again absorbs the energy after the explosion and shoots it, but this time it goes straight up and hits the top of the rock dome. Now large boulders fall from the sky. Salathe gets up and looks around dazed, he pulls himself together and runs toward the entrance. As he is running a large boulder falls and blocks the direct path to the entrance, so Salathe looks left and heads down in between some houses.

But while taking the detour he runs into more pyromancers. They all turn and see Salathe, they draw all draw swords and create shields made of fire. And then from behind Salathe come two pyromancers with whips made of fire. Salathe turns and sees the pyromancers with the whips, and as he was turning the pyromancer swings his whip and smacks Salathe hand, causing his to toos his halberd away. Salathe watches his halberd slide next to the pyromancers, so Salathe draws the firesword. As he takes it out the pyromancers eyes widen, and they are all dazed. But after seeing it they only get angrier, and a little but more frightened. Salathe holds the sword out, and he feels like he has a sixth sense. A pyromancer brings his whip back and is about to strike but the the firesword shoots out a beam of fire and the flies straight through the pyromancer. Salathe looks at the firesword with amazement, then hears the group of pyromancers behind him charging. As he turns to see them he swings his firesword, and fire flies out from it burning all of the pyromancers in front of him. He turns and looks at the last pyromancer left. The pyromancer looks back, drops his whip, and runs. Salathe sighs and sheaths the firesword, puts his shield back, and picks up his halberd and runs for the entrance.

Once there, he picks up his pack, that he had left there, and he begins to climb on top of the dome. Once on top he sees the dome slowly crumbling away, so he quickly makes his way to where he left his shortsword. Salathe runs as fast as he can, so the ground wont fall out from under him, and when he makes it to his shortsword, he cuts the rope with his halberd, and sticks the shortsword back into the bottom of his halberd, and Salathe keeps heading forward.... to the back of the dome. Once he reaches the end, almost the entire dome has crumbled, Salathe looks back and sees that inside the dome, the ground is crumbling and lava is flowing into the city.

Salathe turns around and starts jumping on the tall rocks, from rock to rock, until he reaches the cave wall and gets to a giant entrance. As he enters he hears a loud cry from behind him, and he turns to sees a fire dragon behind him, passing oevr the city and heading his way. Salathe turns and runs into the cave. At first it was pitch black but then he came by a lava stream is it was somewhat lit. He runs into an enormous tunnel, but he is only on a ledge on the wall and teh lavastream falls down into a hole that leads somewhere deeper. Salathe keeps running running and its slowly getting dark and he looks back at the lavastream, and he sees a giant lit up hole above it and suddenly streams of fire come out of it, followed by the dragon. When the dragon entered the tunnel it lit up. Then the cave starts to shake a little, and rocks start to fall from the ceiling. The dragon still flies through the cave though, and Salathe realizes that the dragon is also trying to escape.

So Salathe keeps running, then he sees the end of the tunnel, which is growing smaller, rocks are pileing up. Salathe turns around again and sees lava filling the entire tunnel. Salathe then also realizes that the volcano must be erupting. Salathe keeps running, trying to outrun the lava. When he reaches the way out, it is almost completely covered. Salathe quickly climbs its as fast as he can, once he reaches the top and climbs out, he quickly tries to get off the rocks. But as he is running down the lava reaches the wall of rocks, and for a few seconds it shakes then all the rocks are pushed by the lava, and it seems as if there was an explosion, and Salathe is sent flying a few hundred feet with the rocks. Fortunately he lands in water. He turns and looks at the volcano. He sees lava erupting from a number of places; the bottom, top, side, etc. And Salathe sees the fire dragon in the air around the volcano, and Salathe smiles at the sight of all this at once. Salathe turns and looks out over the ocean and says to himself "Time to pay another visit to the wizard...."
