  1. Strange weather!

Well.... I'd say the weather here in Denmark have been seriously smegged all year. I blame H.C. Andersen!!! (Living in Odense, and I'm fed up with him due to the last years celebrations...) But anyway - it ought to have been cold as smeg here by now - below 0 celsius - but no, not even close... think we've had 2-3 nights in the last 2 months where it's been feezing.... It should be winter, and cold, and windy, and snowy and all by now, not a bit chilly and mainly rainy! Sodding weather - can't be trusted :angry2:
  2. bonsai kittens

Ohhh... this one's good And it actually hits what this is about just perfectly! - they've got a Web site for it, ergo it must be real?!? Riiiight.... Don't we all just love our good old web?
  3. Players Guilds not working?

As my guild have just changed adress for our forum - and I didn't save that new adress anywhere, stupid me - I thought I'd swing by the "players guilds" part of the EL-homepage to see if it wheren't there.... and then it looks like it doesn't work... might be a Firefox-only prolem?? tries to run the page from Internet Exploder...ermm... Explorer - same result. Opera and Netscape? the same again. Conclusions might be one of following: a) The page isn't working atm. 2) the above-mentioned browsers are allergic to the page. n) It's a conspiracy - aliens are trying to take over the internet - the same ones that shot Kennedy and...and...and....*slams head in table* Anyway - what I see when I load the screen generally looks right, except that there is only a small brown-ish bar where the text shold be. Nothing more, nothing less... Also - if one of my guildies would be so kind as to PM me the correct adress, I'd much apreciate it
  4. bonsai kittens

I have to tell you, that mail has circulated for years, (recieved it myself the first time about 2-3 years ago and again earlier this year) and it's fake - can't remember where I saw/heard/read it, but it is... Just thought I'd inform people 'bout it.
  5. Mother Nature

Taking a percentage of the current material points, MP, sounds good to me, as you won't have to fear being slapped to death by MN (Mother Nasty ) any longer - it would give her a way better reputation... much needed As far killing players in horrible accidents theres still the posibillity of collapsing walls :pickaxe_rune: , or those cursed bees - and especially the bees will get a potentially higher "kill-count" if people just get slapped for a certain percentage of their MP's - 'cause a lot of people'll propably get reckless, and not really care that much about being slapped around a bit, and then all of a sudden.... WHAMM!!! a bee stings their nose, and they die Maybe raising the chance of getting these "love-slaps" should be raised somewhat to counter the lesser amount of blood that MN would collect otherwise??
  6. locking up when in console

I haven't seen this problem reported elsewhere, but I'm aware that I'm not the only one experiencing it. After the newest update, whenever I enter the console to read an earlier message, as soon as I try to scroll back down the game crashes - rather annoying Also I'd like to know if I'm the only one that can't use the numpad after the game was updated?? (the big update in this case)

  8. Right - sorry about that - my bad :shame: and Aislinn -I did read it all, and what I see as off-topic is the whole discussion of the good stuff/bad stuff concerning a new continent as a whole - this thread is about storages in this new continent, not the continent as a whole...
  9. Sorry to say, but I think you're wrong. What people want is realistic (or at least semi-realistic) HIGH-fantasy. Not going to discuss this much further here - see reason below... I, for one, is saddend to see, that every time some one comes with an idea for some changes that might, or might not, increase game-play, the idea gets shot down with claims that it is going to "make the game to real/take fun out out of the game/make it to time-consuming" etc. No offence, but come on! find some new arguments, will you? And appart from that, I hope that if anyone feel like discussing this further, they will make a new thread for it, as this one is beginning to be thrown off-topic due to this discussion. As to this argument - again, I'd say it's off the topic - I can't see where anyone have said that it should be expensive as heck to go to the new continent in the current discusion. The suggestion goes on how the storage-system should work with the implementation of a new continent. Nowhere does it say anything (not in the original idea at least) about players having to pay to move from one continent to the other. The only thing suggested to require payment are transporting stuff from storage on one continent to the other, and I'd like to use this chance to promote my own idea earlier in the thread as I think that a tax-and-insurance system would give to much of a feeling that "oh! I have to have a lot of money to pay taxes and insurances and all before I can go to that new continent if I still want to have all of my good stuff over there too..." whereas just paying a fixed amount to access your storage and load up as much as you can carry (if you feel like doing that) ought to work better. This fixed price should, of course be reasonable, and something that everyone can afford, somewhere around 50-200 gc or so. But like I suggested above - if people feel like discussing pros and cons of a new continent, can't you please take it to a new thread? Whether the new continent would be some sortof "elite-player hang-out" or not is, imo, not constructive critisism for this thread. again - see my remark on this above...
  10. Okay then - as I don't know how big this new continent will be, how many ports to the "old world" there'll be, and so on, and so forth, I don't know how this idea would sound... The new continent will have a number of storages solely used for that continent. At the same time, in some of the ports to the "old world", there will be storages connected to the already existing ones(votd, dp and so on). The same would be added in the ports in the "old world" (portland??). But as such there would only be, I don't know, 1, maybe 2, of these "other-continental storages" on each continent, and each of them would charge a fixed amount of gc (20-100) for each time you wish to enter your storage from the "wrong" continent(ie. the you aren't on). This would also create a new money-sink - not a big one, but it'll be there. How does this sound for an alternative?
  11. Ants

Agreed great idea. Maybe having less ants online at the same time might help decreasing players ant-ipathy , 'cause, for smegs sake, there's (recent numbers) 107 of 'em in total - that's the 4th largest guild in the game! I'd say that 25-40 would be found more acceptable + the ant_queen of course...
  12. Level Requirements.

I like that last idea Though I still think that adding some minimum level to use an item might be a good idea too...
  13. New Manufacturing System

I don't know if I'm the only one actually liking Pipers idea? To me much of the fun in the game is in talking with people as well, and as I see it, Roja's system doesn't really leave much time for that... The ideal way of making a sword(the thing everyone is using for example it seems ) imo would be something like this: -Harvest some ore and coal -Make some fire ess -Take it to a smithy -"Use" the furnace to make the ore in to bars -"Use" the furnace again, along with more bars and adding more coal and fe's to make a blade(maybe some variables here, to give a chance of making lighter, more durable blades - ala Damask Steel(this would be by throwing in some sort of clay or such - should be rare harvestable I'd say) or even the "super-folded" steel used for katanas?) -"Use" an anvil to hammer the blade to shape, again adding more fe's, adn maybe some more coal too (maybe even a few water ess as well, if you want the effect of cooling down the metal to be added) -Make a hilt and cross-guard, using bones, wood or metal, and some leather, maybe even gem-stones if You want to the weapon a bit more "flashy" (this don't have to be done at a smithy) -Return to the smithy with blade, hilt and cross-guard, throw in yet more fe's, and put the sword together -Take the sword to a grind-stone, add water ess, and the more times you use the grind-stone, the sharper you can make the blade, but each time with a higher chance of breaking the finished blade(though this would also depend on the kind of steel/iron you used for the blade) Now for another example - the chain-links used for mails -Harvest some ore and coal -Make some fire ess -Take it to a smithy -"Use" the furnace to make the ore in to bars -"Use" the anvil(or some other thing) along with some fe's, to make it in to thread -"Mix" the thread with some rod(preferably iron(a new tool, or something more to manu ), but wood could do too) to get it into shape for the links -Cut the links through with some tool(a pair of pliers or some such), getting a gazillion(or maybe a bit fewer) seperate chainlinks(that should stack, please ) -"Use" the anvil, fe's and chain links, to make larger pieces of chain -"Use" the anvil, fe's and a number of chain pieces to make a finished piece of armour - be that a coif, a mail, a hauberk(knee-long chainmail) or chausses(a set of mail "trousers" protecting from the waist down) Making chainlinks in other materials, ie. gold and silver, could add some more detail to the armours too such as coloured borders and such :battleaxe: Also these chain-link pieces might be used for making platemails, at least the kind of plate there is now... Agreed - this would make it a longer process to manufacture weapons and armour, but on the other hand, it would still let people try to maintain conversations, would still be do-able with a soddy connection and would still let people finish making larger amounts of weapons at the same time(this might not be so good a thing...)
