  1. What are you gonna do with your life?

High-school is nearing its end for me. And I'm slightly scared. Not of the unknown, I pretty much have an idea, what will be waiting for me. I am getting more and more scared over life's single certainty. (Midlife crisis, straight out of high-school)
  2. Well, the big day is here. I picture this moment, as the moonlanding of our generation. The expectations, the interest, the controversy. It is a time-shaping moment indeed.
  3. Fighting styles

A decent chance they were posted by me... I remember something like this, but can't remember the rebuttal on it.
  4. Well, I had the following idea, with the world the game takes place in, being a large one, we could have different fighting styles, to be studied in different areas. They could work the following way: 1. You go and find a trainer for the style (NPC) , he gives you quests so you advance in rank( Novice, Practitioner, Expert, Master, Adept ), which will affect the efficiency of using your style. 2. Due to the manner in which combat is done in EL, the effect would be mostly passive bonuses, and maybe occasinal abilities, similar to spells. For example: - Style A relies on rapid, weak, disorienting strikes, does little damage, but get's more attacks per round. - Style B relies on trapping the adversary's arms, this would translate to the existance of a chance, your opponent to lose the ability to attack in the next round if you block succesfully. - Style C relies on disarming, there is a chance that your opponents weapon, will be returned to his, and even smaller that it will be dropped on the ground, and minimal (at an Adept level) that it will wind up in your inventory/hand (if you are unarmed) 3. Different styles could favor different weapons. I.e. giving accuracy and damage bonuses with them.] 4. You can have one style active at a time, in order to activate a style you have trained in, you must go to the teacher npc, to "brush up" on it. 5. Also different styles, could take a governing attribure, which they will translate in a bonus (i.e. a stat relying on brute force, would get an additional damage bonus from physique) I think this will add a lot of tactics and risk to pk, since you wouldn't know what you are up against.
  5. EU Expansion

Well, I was going to put an etc. at the end, but have forgotten. Anyways As far as I know Bulgaria is the pooest followed by Romania (which is not so poor). I'm also quite glad and optimistic that we've joined.
  6. EU Expansion

We just got in this year. I'm kind of interested to see peoples reactions, be it Bulgarian/Romanian, Euro Zone, the second to last expansion ( Poland and the Czech Republic). Over here (BG) you can't get a distinctive reaction as there are people that are glad about it, people that bitch about it, cautiosly optimistic/pessimistic. So come on speak up. NOTE: Please do not transform this into a smegflingingfest.
  7. Dimov banned

I have just been banned, for same ip trading. There were several friends along with me that were banned. I do not deny that there was same ip trading, however I am appearantly unaware of the scale . The reason for it was, that a while ago I left my character to the elements so to speak, and didn't log on for a while. Since some friends (the afformentioned ones), were just starting, and I made a promise to them that I will help them ( they took some time to start activly playing after they created characters), and I decided to give them the password for my character, so they could take some things which were too valuable to go to waste. I warned them not to #killme my character, since I could've restarted playing (as I did later). I started to play again in short time (since now I had some RL friends playing here). They (as I find out) couldn't find out what's wrong with two characters trading from the same ip. They also aren't the sharpest of tools in term of rethorics, so I doubt they could explain what they did. Unfortunately I have the (bad) habit of keeping my password written down and they appearantly saw it, (I changed my password not long after I let them take some of my stuff) when they came over once.So they logged my character on and did some more ip trading. However not knowing that they knew this password, I calmly played, for a couple of days till they told me they used my character to repair some items at tankel (they claimed they couldn't get the quest started (I have similar problems with other quests, more on that later). Initially I said OK and didn't react (forgetting I haven't told them about my new password). One of them also asked me for some money which I lent him, and I told him I will lent him the money, provided he pays it back, and that they don't use my account anymore (note that I don't consider reading the password i keep written down, as anything malicious, as it was my fault that I kept it written down). He gave the money to his character and bought a steel plate mail. He returned the money later that day, in a form of part of the sum and the rest he payed back with fire essences. This about sums up the affair my character had with same ip trading. I really hope this comes to a fair resolution, as I realise my guilt and so do my friends, which are apologizing and registering forum accounts. I would like to apologize on their behalf (they're good guys, but it's just another tale about the wrong path) and also personally. I have never had a serious run in with EL authorities up untill now (aside minor warnings). I hope you understand my position, and I also would request that my friends get unbanned too ( but I realize this may be a bridge too far).
  8. I was wondering if there was any LiveCD (preferably gui), that's focused on math, science and engineering (and by engineering I exclude software engineering)? Also I would apreciate if it was rather small.
  9. Weapons strategy ?

There are no strategies, because there is a universely accepted best gear. The fighting system is too primitive to offer strikingly different strategies.
  10. Ownafests

pros: -people having a blast at invasions can have more fun, without burdening those who don't -way to make cash as a fighter -slightly quicker exp for higher levels cons: -might be laggy Also aislinn, you should note, it would be lvl'd, so people will advance and face tougher monsters, so you will almost constantly get new faces.
  11. Ownafests

Yet another outstanding idea turned to chat. I suppose the eye-candy bit is technicaly feasible. (open gl , correct me if I'm wrong)
  12. New leather-iron armor

actually, historically, chain mail did give better protection against missle weapons, due to its flexability and the fact that its made of hundreds of little mettal rings. While plate armor is flat and hard, and though it may be strong, its not flexable, and more easaly pierced by stabbing attacks and arrows. in fact, the only thing plate could stand up (ranged wise) to was a short bow, because long bows and cross bows would punch right though the flat steel(or iron) ouch! btw, great job Roja! cant wait to see it ingame! You, sir appearantly don't watch the History channel. They once rammed an arrow at a flat piece of steel, of the same composition and thickness as the plate armor that French knights were using (twas a show bout Azhinkoor), and it barely made a dent (also keep in mind that armors are at an angle thus efectively increasing the thickness of the steel the arrow encounters. Also chain mail (atleast the long one that looks like a dress) isn't that mobile, if you crouch you would have to take your time to get up). Dunno bout scale armor tho)
  13. Ownafests

If you find it that much of a insult Ownafest isn't a mandatory name.
  14. Ownafests

So, any feedback on technical feasibility?
