  1. When in KF = theme from LOTR. When in Arena = theme from Gladiator. When mining = 'hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work we go'. When spell casting = theme from Harry Potter. When going through a portal = theme from Sliders.
  2. Someone enlighten me please...

Summoned creatures don't attack players in MM caves. Goblins do. It is indoors away from high traffic. Where is the problem? If a newb goes into these caves he should be worried about the gobs, not the summoned animals.
  3. Calenhad=Shady

    Thanks for the info!

On a 'semi' related note, what sort of P/C/A/D is needed before a person should even think about going into a PK area?
  6. To the_antiroot

Apologising in public..... hard thing to do....... and very commendable!
  7. Outlaw

Cool idea! I haven't thought of all the ramifications of such a system, but on first reading it seems like a good use of the EL system. I don't see too much radical changing of EL code, but is does produce an interesting radical option for players! Even stripped of the ranking system, etc, and just using the outlaw system on it's own would be interesting.
  8. The Ants

T'was a joke. Hence the But now you've got me thinking..., I wonder if this could actually be done. Much the same way there are special days, it might be fun to have 1 random map for each day where they are pkable. Maybe make them pkable for 1 day every so often? Special days seem to add some variety to the game, I wonder if this could too?
  9. The Ants

How about they're made pkable (on any map) for more AD xp?
  10. werewolves

    Lol!
  11. werewolves

    Er, his idea??
  12. The cooldowns decision

    And will FP be stackable?
  13. Ok, should the cooldowns stay or not?

    Yes, cooldowns should stay.
  14. What Irks you

    I hate Goblins.
  15. Calling all guildleaders

WOW! I do NOT agree with the idea of a council of guilds. But I also do NOT agree with how this is getting a bit personal. If Jez gets this thing off the ground, it will ONLY succeed if all the participants of the council come up with a valid, unifying purpose - which I highly doubt. AND it will need the respect and recognition of the players - also something I doubt will happen. Therefore I don't think we need be overly worried. Curious - yes. Worried and speculate on things we do not know about - no. So let's stick to the debate in hand (and Jez, please come up with a concrete set of concise goals soon - we all need to see what they are), and not go off on a tangent about something which we can only speculate at best.
  16. Calling all guildleaders

So, one aspect would be that you want to set up a 'court' type system. Where people come to you so you can approach the other party and settle a dispute? So the organisation acts as a middle man of sorts between aggrieved parties. I'm not convinced of this idea - but that's not my main issue. My main point is that I have finally got a firmer idea of at least part of what this council is about - IN 2 SENTENCES! (Which I had to produce from your description!) This is the level of detail people want to know so they can then go on to debate the IDEA ITSELF and not repeatedly ask you to PROVIDE CLEAR CONCISE DETAILS.
  17. Calling all guildleaders

What bad behaviour are you referring to? I'm curious so please give some examples. Are we talking Pk? Bag jumping? Something else? Something more general?
  18. Calling all guildleaders

I saw this too Kit, and it also set off alarm bells for me! Rule 26 Jez, all that was asked was a clarification of what was meant by you stating the council would be 'an addition to the mods'. Why invoke a rule? There is a common theme here, and all it is is that people are asking for DETAILS. It is unreasonable to say that details will be worked out as you 'go along', but at the same time make sweeping statements such as 'being an addition to the mods', 'facilitate interguild communications', etc. When people CONTINUALLY ask for details, the responses so far fall into the following categories: 1. Read my previous posts 2. Will work it out as we go along 3. conflict with rules so cannot say 4. make sweeping, vague (and sometimes inappropriate) statements which only serve to make people ask more questions I suggest you take on board that making things up as you go along is not the appropriate way to go, and nail down some details, and answer everyones questions. If you don't? My prediction: Several guilds will rush to join up, not actually realising what the goals/aims are (which seem to be to chat and replicate what already occurs in the game in some fashion), and some (short) time down the line they will realise that the council doesn't actually do very much, and it will dwindle and die a natural death. (Edit -sp)
  19. Calling all guildleaders

Not quite. I wouldn't describe any one who wants to see the point/goals/aims of such an organisation as 'traditionalists'. Rather I'd call them 'people who ask questions' - nothing more, nothing less. But anyway, DA, Jez, etc, the council is not for me, but that doean't mean I don't wish you good luck with trying to improve the EL community in some fashion.
  20. Calling all guildleaders

DA, I applaud your efforts - I really do. But the overly long description got longer with your explanation. Therefore I'm still looking for a CONCISE set of bullet points of the goals of such a council. No one seems to be able to produce such a list. So, here is the situation, a newbie logs on, and says, 'hey, this guild council thing I've heard about, what does it ACTUALLY DO?'. What reply would you give?
  21. Calling all guildleaders

I already addressed these points by saying... As I mention in my quote, these are far too long winded and vague. The normal practice for creating an organisation such as you describe is to have very clear goals and work backwards from there. Can you break it down to half a dozen or so bullet points?
  22. Calling all guildleaders

I have repeated my question (shown above) as no one seems to have answered it. To repeat, I am aware that people want to 'flesh out' this idea as they go along, but if people are trying to establish the GOALS of such an organisation AFTER it's creation, then that is the wrong way to go about it. HOW to get to a goal is a more worthwhile/logical item to discuss. But the goals must be outlined first. To that end, can someone please outline the goals of a council of guilds?
  23. Calling all guildleaders

Seems like an awful lot of vague, grandiose, ideas but with nothing concrete as a basis. Even DA's mission statement mentions not very much - just some vague terms including 'communications channel, offers solutions, focus group, facilitates the organisation of inter group projects, etc etc etc'. I know there is a lot of talk about fleshing out this idea as people 'go along', but that rarely works. You need a clear 'goal', and it is the way towards that goal that needs to be defined. And so far the only concrete goal is to punish 'bag jumpers, scammers' etc. Such a large organisation and red tape to reduce the game to an exercise in leveling up in a sugary coated world. Nope - not for me. But if people insist on having a council of guilds/players, then it would be a lot of power to wield. Nothing like mods obviously, but it would have a lot of vocal power - a powerful voice. So with that in mind, maybe Jez and DA have more concrete goals that they could outline?
