  1. Pro/Dangieras - scammer so beware

Given that you're only a new,and still very small guild, having two of your guildies revealed as scammers in the last two weeks (this guy and Pandemic) seems very unlucky, if not unusual. Still, thanks for passing on the info, and I confirm the char is banned from all TKN bots and placed on our 'beware list'.
  2. PandemiC fail scam

Regret to say its not the only incident involving Pandemic. A few days ago our guild had him and another of your guildies (Jay) showering expletives and witless junk over #ig trying to provoke some sort of response. Needless to say we blanked them and, not unreasonably, have placed your guild on #ig block until we get some assurance that this isn't going to be a regular occurance. As with the scamming, this kind of behavior seems totally out of character, at least for the Pandemic I knew. Whilst we had our differences from time to time, he always seemed a pretty honorable and decent guy who could be trusted. I don't keep up on who sells what char, but his recent behavior suggests this is not the same player. Maybe someone could confirm ? However, regardless of whether it is or is not the same player, attempting to scam someone in the manner suggested by the the chat log is a fairly deceitful and dishonorable act. However its also a profoundly stupid thing to do for someone with an otherwise good reputation. If it is the same old Pandemic (and I really hope it isn't) I feel more sad for him than annoyed. Face it Caliphear, even if all 7 alts were magic dwarves, it'd take a damn sight more than that to turn you into Snow White.
  3. Pathfinder algorithm

Even if not a deliberate strategy, its a great idea. Macro(ers) suck, so maybe adding a random element to 'map walks' would be a good way to frustrate them.
  4. scammer donunator

Thanks Roman for letting us know and sorry i didn't see this post earlier. TKN has bot banned Donunantor and placed him on the 'Beware List' with recommendation that our members and allies have no dealings with him. Commiserations to the poor guy in your guild that got ripped off. On a general note, its disappointing but I guess inevitable that this kind of thing happens from time to time. The worst aspect (at least imho) is that the players who usually fall victim are those who are kind enough to take the chance to help others. Good guild members are like gold dust and the most important element of a guild, hence, its important to try and protect them (in particular) as far as you can. Its no easy task, but one way (I sure many other guilds do this) is to use guild funds to build a store of items that members can borrow. This not only protects individual members from the risk of being ripped off, but makes it more convenient for everyone. It also has the advantage of allowing everyone in the guild to use more of their gc, rather than having it locked up in items (such as mm capes, alembics, molds etc) that they may only need once in a while. Yes, there's still a risk that ppl can steal items, but the effect (at least when spread over a large guild) is far less than if the loss affected a single member. However, there are some basic precautions that can be taken when recruiting new ppl : * Don't give someone unrestricted access to the guild sto until they've been in the guild a while and you've got to know them a little. * Observe and take account of behavior. Scammers are typically selfish and disinclined to be team players. Usually they can't be bothered to join or post to Guild Forums, participate in guild events or help others. Be very suspicious of anyone who begs or is overly demanding of others time, effort and patience. Scammers tend to lack patience. Almost invariably, they will jump at the first opportunity that presents itself, so test out new ppl's trustworthiness with items of small value. * Sounds obvious, but check the disputes forum to see if they have 'form' for bad behavior. * Check ppl's levels. If they are guildless with an oa of greater than say 30, its usually for a reason, ie either they prefer to stay guildless, or because no one wants them in their guild. * Avoid ppl with privacy turned on. Either its because they want their privacy respected, or because they have something to hide. * If the char is a noob, check their pp allocation. Its usually a good indicator as to whether they're an alt of someone more experienced. Although alts can (and often do) make very good guild members, it pays to ask the player to get its main char to confirm identity. * Avoid, avoid, avoid anyone who actually approaches you with a request to join your guild and who you don't know well. * Pay attention to the char name. Its often a good indicator to someone's nature and experience Apologies for the text wall, Hopefully there's something of use in there for ppl that might make life a little more difficult for the donunators of this world.
  5. Entreri blocked neno, then lured us to wrong map

As I remember, your initial choice of victim was a 'him', not a 'her'. Thankfully he got warned off by those of us that know you a little better, and your second choice of victim turned out to be a whole lot tougher and smarter than you (and Newhope) had bargained for. Maybe next time you try luring someone into dpa, you could avoid doing so with the rest of their guild as an audience and then, after you've been caught red handed, actually admitting to everyone that you did it 'just because you were bored'. It might make your denial (just a little) more convincing. Under the circumstances (and on the assumption that he's capable), it might be wiser if you let Entreri defend himself.
  6. Entreri blocked neno, then lured us to wrong map

Not sure how you're defining luring but, if you accept that it essentially describes an act in which one party attempts to deliberately mislead another in a particular direction, then lying about the location of a valuable mob in order to conceal its location from other players would reasonably seem to fit the bill. Whilst its not the classic form of luring which we're used to seeing in EL, the only difference between Entreri luring ppl away from the neno and, you luring them into DPA for the purposes of possibly getting your buddy Newhope to jump them outside the no-drop zone, would seem simply to be the small matter of direction in which the poor unwitting victim is being encouraged to travel. True, its not against the rules, however, neither is it compulsory that everyone becomes a victim. Hence, why this forum allows for the exploits of scammers, bag-jumpers, beggers, serpers, (and not least lurers) to be published here so as the rest of us can know exactly who to avoid and why.
  7. stat bonuses

How about the opposite, ie the quality/attributes of the armor/weapon increase depending of the manu lvl of who made it. That would certainly provide appeal for lvling in manu.
  8. Guild R&R

Gratz on the new guild, Hussam. Like that you've opted to code your own website and host the forum software yourself. Will be keeping tabs on its development and expecting great things
  9. YAYAYAY!

    Gratz Star and well done.
  10. It is what it is.

Are you sure Korrode is the one who has that talent? My mistake Miiks. Should have made it clear that Korrode merely has talent, whereas you turn getting pwned into an art-form. Happy now ?
  11. It is what it is.

Of course you get on well with Tokie, you need someone to stand next to who's dimwitted, incessant, unnecessary blathering is even more senseless than your own. After which, I'd guess most ppl will be inclined to think that you're standing a lot closer to me than tokie. I keep waiting for your response to make sense, but it just never does. In which case, I guess it bears a striking similarity to your previous post. If you've some kind of sensible point to make, even one thats loosely relevant to the topic, then great lets hear it. Otherwise, it might just be a little kinder on yourself to maybe just stfu and accept that you're clearly not cut out to be any kind of a flamer. Still, at least you seem to have a real talent for making ppl laugh at you.

  13. Bad (or neutral) days

I really like your suggestion. Would love to see it in game Ditto, some really cool ideas. Plus a day with 2x pot experience, eg Day of Hieronymus Bock
  14. It is what it is.

I like #nu because the guys and gals in that guild are always polite, friendly and trustworthy. Not just on good days, but consistently. They can be relied on to cover your back, play straight and, in all aspects, are a pretty fine example of what being an 'honor guild' means.
  15. Hyperbag race in Honor of Starlites and Faranthir's wedding

    Gratz Star and Faranthiers.
  16. It is what it is.

Ditto me. Proud to have #nu as friends and allies of TKN.
  17. CalsoniC - Serping and BJing.

Bot ban for his entire guild ? What you mean ? 'quod erat demonstrandum' (I think you'll find) In which case, can we therefore assume that Calsonic is next to take teh long walk off a short plank ? Meanwhile, back on planet Earth... Not sure its wise of you to use the word 'honorable', particularly given how long its been since we last saw any 'live prey' on Disputes.
  18. CalsoniC - Serping and BJing.

Seems this is the second time Legit seems to have earned himself a dishonorable mention in 'Disputes', the last being when he got kicked from his previous guild for scamming an instance team. Good to see he's found a new home with others that seem to complement his singular talents.
  19. CalsoniC - Serping and BJing.

Bot ban for his entire guild ?
  20. CalsoniC - Serping and BJing.

So explain these "honorable rules", why don't you ?
  21. Lvling in manu

To lvl at manu, I'd suggest starting on fox scarves. Avoid fur gloves and save any bunny skins till you're able to make furry boots. Similarly, don't bother with fur cloaks as the price hardly justifies the extra ings and inevitable fails. Save your bones until you can get the 'i eat dead ppl' perk, that way you avoid being poisoned by shrooms, or spending your life in cool-down. Sell your meat, dog skins etc to the bots to increase your profit and help you get useful books sooner. Making furry boots won't lvl you at manu anywhere near as fast as burning helms, but its much more profitable and much less monotonous. You get to keep more of your hard earned gc to buy the books needed to manu higher-end items as well as those needed to harv and mix the ings that you'll need to manu that stuff. Don't make the mistake of switching to making swords and armour too soon. They're more fun but, at lower manu lvls, you're usually better off selling the ings and buying the items. The irony of manu is that the high-end stuff isn't usually of much practical use to those who prefer making stuff over killing things/ppl. Hence, its likely that you'll want to switch to making stuff thats actually useful to mixers like meds, rings, indicators etc. It therefore pays to balance your lvling between alc/pot/cra/man, as opposed to focusing solely on manu to the exclusion of other skills.
  22. Jomix - repeated begger

Clearly, the "deal" would seem that its preferable for ppl to alert ppl to ignore this guy before they fall victim, as opposed to leaving them to find out the hard way. The guy is clearly engaged in testing the limits of generosity of those who care enough to help and encourage those new to the game. If it helps prevent some idiot taking advantage of the good nature of some of EL's nicer players, then posting in Disputes would reasonably seem fully justified. Moreover, it provides a useful service in highlighting those whom most honorable guilds will probably want to avoid recruiting or dealing with.
  23. Kaos Bag jump warning

Easy to criticise when ppl bagjump, but says a lot more where they try to put things right afterwards. I think Aislar deserves a lot of credit as I'm kind of guessing she's done a lot of work 'behind the scenes'.
  24. Hercules - AkA Merlin_

Hercules was wearing a TKN tag when scammed Monkez, so TKN takes full responsibility for the incident. Our first concern is to make sure the victim gets fully compensated. Hercules is still in TKN for the moment, whilst we give him time to reconsider his actions. As to whether he remains in TKN in the long term, he has a choice to make. *** Update - Monkez now compensated in full, plus an extra amount for goodwill.
  25. Some advice

30 years ago I had a similar dilemma. Now I have three children lol. Passions change as you get older.
