  1. #EXP

I use the #exp command occasionally to see how much experience I recieved for doing a single action although I usually use the client's counters instead. The advantage of the #exp command is that it puts the info into the chat_log so you can go back and check it later.
  2. Making maps more used..

For Zirakinbar, what about an NPC (either in Zirakinbar or Zirakgunda) that sells some of the stuff that is now only sold in WS map - I'm thinking Hammer and Wood Handle - seems that the local residents shouldn't have to get their supplies from White Stone. Kusamura is a pretty good place for training and hunting for meat/bones at the right levels . . . and the EVTR storage isn't that far away . . . and you can walk there from Idaloran without going through dangerous regions . . . . It doesn't have much in the way of harvestables except for poison ivy. Perhaps a cave with an ogre spawn or something along those lines would draw more traffic.
  3. Animal summons stay closer

I want to be able to summon flocks of penguins
  4. Missile implementation on the client

Don't the kills/deaths counters depend on the attecker and attackee being next to each other? This won't necessarily be the case for archery. Perhaps we could count arrows that we shoot (hits and misses) and arrows that hit us if the server gives us enough info to go on . . .
  5. Which candidate is the best match for you?

I found that several of the questions had no answer that I particularly liked and a couple of others that I was kind of undecided on but I got: 1 - Mitt Romney 2 - Duncan Hunter 3 - Rudy Giuliani
  6. 1.5.0 Map Bugs

There is a walk-through boulder in Dragon Cave [73,126] [Fixed]
  7. 1.5.0 Map Bugs

I found map flicker on the ground in Hurquin at these coords: [41,129] [89,133] [53,119] [FIXED]
  8. el economy

Leather helms don't bring much gc into the game since most of that gc is spent buying leather and feasting potions. And if you use the schools you have to stop manufacturing stuff every once in awhile and harvest stuff to earn money to buy more ingredients. I can't be bothered with the schools myself. It is difficult to balance. Ent has learned a lot about balancing the economy over the years. Right now the economy is a lot better than it has been at times in the past.
  9. Phantoms cause resync

Is there any way to check if any of the Phantom's actor animation sequences run for longer than the time the server allows for?
  10. 1.5.0 Map Bugs

I clicked all over the ladder but didn't try from right next to it.
  11. 1.5.0 Map Bugs

Exploring in Willowvine I found myself in this room at Willowvine Forest Insides (according to the message, Aislinn let me in - thanks Aisy). Clicking on the ladder brought me to the floor near [304,32] but neither the ladder nor the door can be used to leave the room - I appear to be stuck unless there is supposed to be a secret here.
  12. NEW CEL Site Launch

    Thanks that'll help a lot.
  13. NEW CEL Site Launch

Nope Javascript is enabled and allowed to do anything but hide the status bar. I've tried to use a couple of newer browsers but they require newer libraries than I have installed. I gotta upgrade to a newer distro real soon now.
  14. NEW CEL Site Launch

I use the CEL website frequently. Unfortunately, this copy of Mozilla 1.7.13 won't actually display the menu on the new website.
  15. Dye Making

They are there - at the end. You may be seeing a cached copy of the file - try reloading the page.
  16. 1.5.0 Map Bugs

When you enter Desert Pines Storage (map says "The Meep" - probably this part of the map should be given its own name) you get a message in error_log.txt saying Error: Can't open File "./particles/moon_bubbles1.part" . This has to be one of the oldest client bugs left and fixing it would clear up a lot of confusion for people reporting crash-related bugs. It appears that map file misc1.elm is the only one that references moon_bubbles1.part . I am guessing this is either a packaging error due to moon_bubbles1.part being left out of the set of files included in the release or more likely the map was created using a particle that was later removed from the list of available particles. If this is the case, couldn't the map be fixed to no longer refer to that particle so that the error message no longer appears? [FIXED]
  17. Broken Storage Commands

I also find it annoying that the window goes away when you change maps. With the old system I could always review my inventory by looking at chat history while making a long multi-map journey. Would it be a problem if the window stayed open across map changes?
  18. Broken Storage Commands

I found for me that the storage window doesn't appear if you are in combat when you issue the #sto command although you still get the slot count. Maybe you were in combat when you tried it? Edit: sorry for the duplicate - response - I missed seeing it.
  19. Encyclopedia Errata

I've been doing some testing with summoning and I found some encyclopedia entries that seem wrong to me: Deer summoning uses 12 mana not 10. I believe the recommended level for fox is 20 not 22. According to my notes, you get 650 base exp for fluffy summoning not 750. Maybe someone can verify whether I have it right or not. Edit: I just checked on the test server and it's 750 - I had a typo in my notes. I agree with Fedora that polar bear gives 90 base exp.
  20. Update issues

I'm running on my HP Pavilion laptop under Vista. I'm having occasional map change crashes. Sound seems to work fine. The only other problems relate to the broken video drivers (Nvidia) - problems I was having before the update as well. I would have upgraded to XP but my copy of XP won't recognize the hard drives (I guess they're RAID). I cannot install EL on my linux box yet - my distro (Slackware 9.0) is too old to have the libstdc++.so.6 libraries required by the supplied binary and I can't compile the CVS without some major work.
  21. Current CVS errors

I just downloaded a fresh copy of the elc CVS and I'm trying to compile it (on Linux). I'm using the default options except I commented out eye candy. I am getting gamewin.c: In function `mouseover_game_handler': gamewin.c:333: `objects_list' undeclared (first use in this function) gamewin.c:333: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once gamewin.c:333: for each function it appears in.) gamewin.c:339: `OBJ_3D_BAG' undeclared (first use in this function) gamewin.c:352: `OBJ_3D_HARVESTABLE' undeclared (first use in this function) gamewin.c:357: `OBJ_3D_ENTRABLE' undeclared (first use in this function) make: *** [gamewin.o] Error 1 - it looks like gamewin.c is depending on eye candy to get it's declaration for objects_list. The reason I can't use the linux binary is that it requires libstdc++.so.6 and my distro is to old to have that. The reason I'm compiling without eye candy is that some of the c++ code isn't compiling properly probably due to the c++ include libraries being improperly installed in my distro (slackware 9.0).
  22. "Market" value of EFE?

As a manufacturer, I need a steady supply of EFE in order to make the things I make. Since I cannot make EFE fast enough to satisfy my demand I have to buy it. If the price I have been offering isn't high enough to bring in a steady supply I have to increase the price I pay or I have to stop making the items that use it. I use my bot for most of my market buying/selling so I can spend my playing time making stuff instead of trying to work the markets. I have recently raised my bot's buy price for all the rare items I am short of including EFE. If I can't buy EFE at that price, I'll have to raise the price again (and of course factor that increase into my selling prices for manufactured goods). I still have 35 EFE left so I can wait to raise my price, but a few more sets of titanium armors will use up my supply. Also I have stopped making iron plate items. The rate at which I can get EFE makes iron plate unattractive for me to make.
  23. "Market" value of EFE?

Another rare ingredient that is needed for high end items is serpent stones. I'm having a hard time buying them on my bot even though I've raised my price quite a lot. I expect that there are a lot of them in storage but not many are coming on the market. I will be saving the few I have left - not using them up except for emergency needs - until they become available again.
  24. Next Invasion

Mushrooms of mass destruction of course
  25. Server communication trouble

And what happens when you try the same tests on port 2001 (the test server)?
