  1. the map font is way too large for me, i'd like it smaller, so i can do more markings. This would require a change in the draw_game_map, the last parameter (text_zoom) of draw_string_zoomed in the loop that draws the marks (// crave the markings) should be definable by the user (probably in el.ini).
  2. cross links

    i noticed that items are not always cross-linked in the encyclopedia (i.e. "sulphur" occurs three times, but is never actually linked to the entry for Sulphur). i'd like to fix this, i know how to, but i'm not sure this is wanted/needed. can i just get the latest version from cvs and then submit patches against that?
  3. two things (which might be connected..) edit: info about my system, debian sid, x86, i used to play el and it worked fine el cannot connect to the new server, even though telnet game.eternal-lands.com 2000 works perfectly, and i can read the welcome message. no firewalls or anything in the way also i changed data_dir to /tmp/ (where i unpacked the .zip), el still complains that it can't find the languages files and knowledge.xml any ideas anyone? i'd like to play again
  4. i think it's rather 15-20 degrees.. that can't be changed easily, there's another thread somewhere about it.. for the 'too far away', i think this could be implemented in the client, i'll have a look later.. shouldn't be too hard [catch message from server, use pathfinder to walk there]

    ad 1) shouldn't you *know* when you attack and when you don't want to? ad 2) i think fleeing already doesn't succeed all the time, so what would be the difference decreasing the chance of bad (and good?) mother nature is a good idea i'd say

    i have changed the hotspots for the cursors locally on my version to "better" positions, but the problem remains, because now the hotspot is not in the same place for all cursors, so sometimes the cursor seems to "jump"... if people want it, i can post a patch, but it's really easy to modify yourself..

    yeah but we are setting a alrdy deleted pointer to 50 so........ .. which can result in a lot of errors, most probably *not* a segfault most probably you just set the memory location that used to be allocated to 50, which is no problem because it's not used for anything at that point..

    it doesn't necessarily crash.. it might as well just work, depending on your implementation of new and delete.. probably you will only get problems when using new again..

    that would also mean either quite a big load for the server, or different birds for everybody (if they are implemented in the client)

    as the server does not tell you what perks you have, and you can play as many characters as you want on one machine, you would have to create a file for every character and keep track of the perks.. a *very* bad solution.. i suggest adding a command to the server that sends a list of perks..

    i'd say it just means that you have to walk farther.. there's enough flowers all over the place, just not in the most convenient locations.. and if every blob of metal gave off 100 ore, it shouldn't be too tight (though i don't know any exact stats of distribution of raws..) i think it's a good idea to make it somewhat harder than harvesting lilacs right beside the votd store.. also i'd *really* like my dwarf to do some mining to get money, but right now flowers pay about 10-20 times as much

    i agree, making fighting like trading (i click you with the sword, you get a message, if you want to fight me then click me with the sword icon) should not be too hard technically, and would improve "realism" (which *is* nice)
