1. it would be good if you could completely compartmentalise maps. this is mainly for the indoor maps

it has been possible before to occasionally see another room when inside, if you have the right angle and zoom, the perspective makes this far easier.

at a minimum, having a tall black wall between all rooms would work, but if each room was isolated into its own area, and other areas not loaded (for display) then you save rendering time and don't get to see other places

    I like it. :P

if possible, could the heighmap be assumed from the ground tiles? this is coming from the problem of map 'holes' in some places

If you mean by heightmaps placing themselves via their ground tiles, some tiles (water) do that automatically.

If you mean by objects having the heightmap pre-done before placing the object, just push ctrl+h and drop objects: the heightmap is done :)

If you meant neither, disregard because I couldn't interpret that right. :(

the readme says about putting spacing around things like houses (so people don't get too close)... is it practical to automate this?

It's not a huge convenience as it is. Don't worry. :)

perhaps a randomiser for stuff like trees and rocks and all, so the creator doesn't have to worry about adjusting them to look different

Hold ctrl when placing objects. Works very well for 2d. Only copies for 3d though.

and on that topic... a map optimizer that searches for tiles/objects that wouldn't be seen(covered, clear, whatever), and removes/NULLs them?

    Smart.

and with the persistent object ID thingy, does that open the possibility for maps to affect each other, like smoke from a chimny outside only if fire inside is lit?

That would probably require a bit of programming, but sounds very good. :P

    :)

  2. middleweight everything from 60/60 to 100/100?? so me vs dragonsyoung for example? That's insane.

No one under a/d 90/90 would participate

Exactly. You have to have tighter limits to make it more fair.

  3. I'd like to see it come back, but I voted for B. It'll be to hard to keep up with 6 divisions. Much better to keep it simple and to 3. It'll be easier to keep it organized.

Uhm, I don't think you'd want to see that kind of mess..

A 120 'lber' going against a 150-160 'lber.' Very, very messy scene Evy. :pinch:

  4. Well if we want it SOOOO realistic take out the lvl's and let's just get better 'skilled' like I said in another topic this game is turning into Illarion with lvl's and global chat...

    186138

Would you truly like me to name about 100 games all with leveling and global chat? -_- It's part of a game -- if they don't have either of those, they're either geniuses or complete morons.

  5. hmm, i think it's better all maps are pk maps and only some areas like around the storages, villages, main pathes and main resources are save places. for the story you can implement a war between 2 continents or serveal gods, but you should also have the chance to attack all players. if you are fighting for one side you have the protection from the mass or if you choose to be a outsider you fight for your own or your clan (if u are in a guild).

so there are much more options what you can do and outlaws get punished by the community.

    just my 2 cents.

    185931

How about no? Some of us aren't PKers at all. Some of us don't really care about fighting period. In general, that's probably half the community or more at the least. If 15 year olds want to go fight for online respect, let them. I want no part in anything they do. <_<

  6. Even though he most likely dident mean me and spar just you wait someday death will catch up to you.And death is ME! :angry2:

    186044

    Wow, you're death?

I'm positive most of the population on this forum isn't scared of you. Strange. :bow_arrow:

  7. how can it be fun sitting in a pk map and not having any action? u can chat also somewhere else

as lomg i play EL, i let no1 chat in KF! KF is for PK

if u dont PK get the **** out my property :)

    185719

I bet if you ever get in a RL fight and get your teeth knocked in, you'll finally start to dislike the fighting aspect. ;)

*stares at aspirin bottle some more*

  8. Is there a way to get 1x1 water tiles? or maybe all floor tiles in 1x1 also?

    185711

Uhm, they're like that right now. :)

If you mean 1x1 in terms of heightmap gridding, that might take a little work from Wytter/Rogue/whomever with how reformatting it would work. (Like how to get the current 6x6 ground tiles to work with 1x1 ones)

    Edit:

    @Vermor:

Save your map file, press ctrl+e, and alt+left click on objects and blend them individually. Your best bet if you want transparency. ;)

    Another edit:

If I was to suggest something, I'd definitely ask for a way to make tiles vertical. Probably an increase in the height of heightmap tiles? Up to 6.00?

  9. Just for reference here:

Oldbies are considered to be players who started around Autumn 2003 or before.

    185534

So it's that bland of a description? So are middlebies people who started after Autumn 03 and before December 23, 2004 at 6:35:32 pm? (Please note the sarcasm)

Can't really put a timeline on things like this. Because with that type of logic, a person who joined, say, February 2004 wouldn't be considered an oldbie if he continued playing till 2008. ;)

People know if they're an oldbie, middlebie, newbie, or whatever. They just do.

  10. eep, nope. terminal app is like the dos box/command window/whatever (and yes, *nix nuts, dos is nowhere near as good. but poor windows users don't have anything better. and it's a basis for comparison)

and ~/.elc/ is where EL stores your chat_log, error_log, el.ini, etc. it's a folder in the users' home directory. somewhat similar to your 'My Documents'.

won't help any. EL will ignore it

well, not too far from the truth.

and the `ln -sf /dev/null ~/.elc/chat_log.txt` thing means basically "make the chat log be linked to /dev/null".

/dev/null will basically allow you to put stuff in it, which will then be discarded. your chat_log will never grow.

ed: whoops, a little too late. oh well.

as for ignoring local in-game... don't do that. and for ignoring in chat_log... why would you need to? you never know when something interesting will et saved there. just delete it if it gets too large

    185531

There's a deeper reason why she wants to. Can't blame her reasoning either.

  11. Dimov, that is a direct copy of the game 'Helbreath.' If this does get put in, atleast make it where someone never has to join either side because that's one of the things that made Helbreath a pitiful game -- you had to join a side or never level up past 20.

Plus it breaks up numerous friendships. :omg:
