I've put together the following list of questions for those people who have considered joining the PK server, but aren't sure if it's the right place for them. Many of our most active players joined on whimsy and have stayed because they love it. Many others have come and left within a week or two because it isn't for them. The point is that the PK server isn't for everyone, but I know that there are many on the main server who would love the alternatives that it offers. If you are a player, or have been a player, feel free to add questions. If you have never played the server, but are curious, please ask your own questions. 1. Are you OK with dying? (You don't have to be a PKer, but you will still get attacked on occasion.) 2. Are you the sort of person who may train or harvest on a PK map despite/because of the danger? 3. Do you know EL well enough to be able to harvest or train in less populated areas and come up with alternative strategies? 4. Are you comfortable with leveling a new character from scratch (and recognize that you will not be able to own the server in a couple weeks?) 5. Would you prefer a smaller group of people who know you and primarily speak in one channel to a larger group who will always be talking, but not necessarily to you? (Think: Big fish in small pond, or small fish in big pond?) 6. Do you have family members or friends with the same IP that you would like to play with (trade, fight, etc...)? 7. Do you like the idea of trying new skills? 8. Do you like the idea of using an alt to mule, harvest, or specialize? 9. Do you believe that PK should be about levels and skills more than armor or weapons? 10. Is your main server character so high that you can't leave or cut down the time you spend on the main server? 11. Are you comfortable with an English speaking community?

This is a good question to add. With such a small community, it is hard to find too many people who speak your language. I speak a touch of Romanian (although I never learned to write it), but if someone were to come who only speaks Romanian, I'd find it too difficult to always be the one translating. I can't imagine that a non-English speaker would stick around very long, which is the point of the this thread. We're certainly an international community over here, but still too small to accommodate non-English needs the way the main server can.

As with other new items that come into the server, I'm going to keep the price at 100 gc unitil I have paid off the overhead. Even at 100 gc, you're saving 20 gc a potion off NPC price, so I think it's a pretty fair price. There are a few others with better potion levels than I looking for the books, so the price will become more competitive soon I'm sure. Mostly I'm just proud that I did it. I've been on this server since Day 1, but this is my first claim to being the first at anything. Being an alcher and potioner doesn't off that reward very often, so thank you all!

I love this idea, too, partly because I sort of had it earlier (see above: kill your own invaded creature). A small map with two houses, two creatures, and two hyperbags would be fantastic. We could run into the other team's house and heal their spawn . The contents of the hyperbag would have to be a secret, though, and MrHide would have to run it. So, MrHide, do you think you might be here the Sunday after this? As for this Sunday, a Kill Kaldoon with a PK edge would be a lot of fun. Thank you, Bkc!

Grats Woodeh on bringing the Pirate team to victory! Grats Gambit for making it damn close (you really do hit hard). I love these ideas! Would you all like to claim a weekend to "run" your event (it isn't really that much work: just make sure everyone knows the rules and then break the teams up)? If you'd prefer I do it for you, that's fine. Just let me know. What worked this week: Cheap! KF meant no one minded their deaths (I was giggling in the underworld). Well, those caltrops cost a couple thousand, but that was fun. What didn't work: Still too short. It was a little more confusing without MrHide's blue spam, so we may want to make sure he can be on. Oh, and knowing my north from my south would help. How about making it every other week in KF so it's cheaper? The other idea we talked about in game was prizes. If each player pays 2kgc to play, the winning team would get 4kgc each as a prize. Right now I think most of us are just enjoying the game for the fun of it, but this might spice it up a bit, too.

I think it's a great idea to have it in KF, but don't forget: If you want to use your fighter char, buy an MM cloak before Sunday! So here's the current plan for this Sunday's CTF (capture the flag): We'll break into two teams again starting at 4:00 Texas time (pretty sure that's 20:00 GMT), same as last week. Boy (10/14/38/8 a/d/p/c) can be one flag, and Kaldoon (16/13 a/d with 48/16 p/c) will be the other. Each flag will have a bag at their feet containing a pirate scarf (The Pirate Team) or a red scarf (The Bloods?). Your team's objective is to get both the other team's flag in a bag within the parameters of your team's base. The bases are Fort Garison (upper level), and Fort Bourq (all). At the start of the game, all team members must be at their base. Hopefully MrHide can let us know when to begin. Remember: There are no rules against summons, potions, magic, teleports, ranging, or any other strategy you can come up with, so prepare whatever you'd like. Now go do some reconnaissance! PS: please return my flags so we can keep playing! PPS: decoy scarves are not allowed. PPPS: does anyone have a red scarf we can use?

Since the glyphs will need summoners to make them, you couldn't have picked a better time to get started.

Grats Kit on capturing the flag for your team! The more I think about it, the more I'm seeing other options for game play. Segor's idea for returning with the flag is a good one. I have two pirate scarves that would make great flags. We could use Boy and Kaldoon to stand over the bags and refresh them. I know many of us came up with other strategies, so this is going to be an expensive week of preparation for me. I had this idea too: "Kill your own spawn the fastest." We break into teams and try to kill a giant or other creature before the other team kills theirs. No rules (ie: feel free to kill the other team and heal their spawn). A dragon may be a bit tricky, but we can talk about it. What do you think?

We've been missing Gossip on the PK server for a few months. The_Piper brought in EternalTrivia for us to use since he has a mail system (#mailto <playername>), and I believe is is a functional feature on the main server. He won't PM you if have a message, so you just have to occasionally check it. We've been so spoiled by Gossip...

I generally like polls, mostly for the reasons stated here. 1. No one says you have to vote, bu it is a way of having your voice heard (Obama '08!) 2. I agree that a 60% majority is not much; however, note that there were some main server players who didn't like the idea of the BRoD being removed here. I don't believe is this is truly only %60. 3. Polls allow for many voices to be accounted for quickly (not just the person who yells the loudest). 4. While Entropy may have complete contol over the game, that does not mean that he is opposed to well-contructed, meaningful input. When good suggestions are made, he listens. He has already stated on this particular thread that if Tanta were removed, no one would get their money back, which implies that he will listen to reasons for removing her. 5. TRUE! This thread began under some confusion, but now I believe it's clear what would be lost or gained through the removal of Tanta.

This seems pretty to be the case pretty much across the board, so we'll just have to see who's on on Sunday and up for a game.
