The first thing you should do is work on your harvesting skills. After your harvesting skills go up, you can then harvest vegetables or fruits for food, and harvest the necessary ingredients to work on other important skills, such as alchemy, potions, etc. Many harvested materials can sold to a shop for some gold. Remember that it doesn't hurt to ask for help in either the newbie channels or other players around you. Elrond Peredhil, Lord of Rivendell

Perhaps I'm not looking hard enough, but there seems to be a lack of quests for the low level characters. I recently joined Aluwen, to find that the first quest involves killing skeletons, a creature far beyond my capabilities. Now I must live with the -2 rank until gleaning the sufficient experience to battle hostile monsters. I suggest some sort of warning before a player joins. At the moment, there is little a low level player can do in terms of questing. Adding minor quests would make the game much more interesting for all inexperienced players. Elrond Peredhil

What is the difference between defense and armor?

I just purchased some steel chain mail, which requires 1 Human nexus. Noting that, I used a pick point to recieve 1 human nexus. However, my stats display a human nexus of "0/1", and I am unable to wear the armor. How do I solve this problem? Elrond Peredhil

Here's a site with some interesting fonts: http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/4948/. This site contains Tolkien's Dwarven runes, and the Elvish Tengwar alphabet. I used the Elvish fonts for my current signature. Just thought it might be useful for those who want to add more depth to their guilds/signatures. Elrond Peredhil, Elven Lord

Don't insult other races please... Back to the topic...muskets seem like a good idea. However, personally, I think they're in the wrong time period. Firearms belong to the industrial age, which doesn't make for an ideal fantasy world. If the muskets are implemented, care must be taken to keep the game balanced. The high damage would need to be offset with poor accuracy. Elrond Peredhil, Elven Lord[/img]

This is a thought on Guilds that expounds on Ent's house Ide
Elrond Peredhil replied to Uberad's topic in Suggestions - General, Misc.
Perhaps you could add terrain advantages, such as a wall and gate around the country/region. In the center of the map, you could place a castle. If the owning guild is heavily outnumbered, they could withdraw into their central castle, which would provide a greater defensive posture. Under the proposed system, attackers would need to lay siege on the castle in order to effectively "drive out" the incumbents. This would require a highly skilled, highly organized, highly numerous army. Elrond Peredhil, Elven Lord -
Eventually, I too will be a healer. Someday I will found Rivendell...a place of refuge.... If you use potions, you could simply use mana potions to replenish your mana for healing spells. However, I see your point. Healers have a limited arsenal. But why stop there? Why not have a spell that heals all persons within a certain radius around the healer? That would be much more efficient... Elrond Peredhil, Elven Lord

For some reason, the vertex arrays are still enabled, depite the setting in the .ini being 0. My computer does not have enough memory to run EL with the vertex arrays enabled (256MB).

Greetings from Rivendell! Just a few points: To Alastria: even the weakest weapon, if wielded with skill, can be dangerous. There is no denying that an arrow to the head will have results. Though you may have no interest in bows, they have always been the traditional weapon of the elves and rangers of the woodland realms. If bows are not included for functional reasons, then include them for roleplaying ones. There is no reason to limit the possibilities. As for Raziel, you should learn to count your blessings. EL is one the the better free games I have yet to see. We are all lucky to have the opportunity to join this unique community, regardless of our financial situation. The elves are listed as one of the playable races. However, they lack the ability to use their traditional weapon, the bow. Distance weapons could add a new, exciting dimension to the game, as well as unlock previously unaccessable roleplaying possibilities. In addition, the game could benefit from the addition of race bonuses. For example, elves are known to be quick-footed and stealthy. Perhaps this could equate to extra speed, or some basic camoflauge abilities. Likewise, the dwarves would benefit from better strength and health, and so on. But for the moment, EL is on the right track. With the proper refinements, this game can improve drastically.

armour and weapons breaking
Elrond Peredhil replied to Kedan's topic in Suggestions - General, Misc.
I don't think players would enjoy watching their hard earned coins breaking in combat. High quality weapons are expensive. If this idea is to have any success, the prices must drop to offset the cost of breakage. Elrond Peredhil, Lord of Rivendell -
I'd like to know where I can obtain empty vials, for potion making. Thanks. Elrond Peredhil, Lord of Rivendell
