Hi there~ I dunnoh if anyone remembers me. It's been a very long time since I played. But I just got one of those mobile-wireless-broadband thingies so I have internet access again! Woo! I thought Yeaaah~ I can play EL again~ But now that I finally managed to download it, I find it tells me my IP is banned!? As far as I can recall I left EL on quite good terms... I'm not the sort of person who breaks rules (they're mostly common decency, after all) and I certainly don't remember anything along those lines. In addition, since I no longer live with my parents (or in Edinburgh) I must have a new IP. And so, I am wondering why I am banned, and how I can become un-banned, or is it only possible for me to follow the Whitelist proceedure? (I'm not sure I can GET an email from my ISP as it's one of those dongle things, a pay-as-you-go one, not a contract.) EDIT: Oh yeah, my in-game name is Raavea, I think... Well.. It's been a number of years. It's not entirely relevant though, in this case, is it? EDIT2: Oh, and I see that I can also pay 5 USD. But that would take weeks as I'd have to transfer the money to paypal (my account is debit only, and does not work online) and I'd really like to know just WHY this IP is banned, if that's okay. I'm looking into getting a my3 email address, but I'm encountering nothing like that so far.. EDIT3: Mm, nope, doesn't look like I'll be able to get a 3 email address.. I could use my old one for BT, back when I lived at my parents' place.. Damn, I really wanted a good hack at EL before I have to get back to work. EDIT4: (Haha, yeah, sorry, I tend to forget things, so I edit a lot putting them back in. I feel it's better than spamming up the replies if no-one's answered yet.) Oh, and I need further clarification on rule 5, as I'm hoping my boyfriend will also get into EL, but we will be using the same computer most of the time. We will therefore not be able to meet in-game (as there's only one PC) or trade, as far as I know, but he will be on a seperate account to mine. This would not be regarded as multi would it? Because there is no er, what's the word.. No benefiting from one another?

Hello, I am following that guide, on Jaunty, and the install seems to be having problems downloading el_170_linux.zip from http://twinmoons.org.uk/el/ It hasn't thrown up any major errors yet, but it does keep skipping so-many-K and re-trying. (You can see this by clicking Details.) I was wondering if the OP or anyone else either has had this problem (but it just made the install last ages) or knows how to fix it. Or should I give up on using synaptic and just go the generic install route, do you reckon? EDIT: It did screw up, after HOURS of waiting. I can't seem to download manually either - it keeps hanging, or stopping in the middle. Is there something wrong with the server? o.O I haven't played EL for years, I miss it!

This is something I had considered, thanks, I'll try 40-50 FPS and see how it helps, but for me the game looks fine, it just stops responding and then resyncs regularly. No new programs, this was one of the first things I installed on my new machine, and I don't leave file sharers on - it's like having a huge neon 'hack me' sign on my computer's back entrance. I don't think it's my ISP as the family have no problem with their online games. Must just be the signal in here is too weak. Almost completely impossible (viruses etc) as I use linux. Very few viruses exist 'in the wild' for linux machines, and Ubuntu's built-in firewall makes hacking hard too, plus I think it's got a no-response policy for pings etc. Thanks for all the help, it must be my connection if no-one else seems to be having problems, so I'll just not play until I move into a new place where I can get my own broadband pipe, not try to pick up the signal from two rooms away.

I'm not entirely sure if all the system info is neccessary but it's at the bottom anyway. The issue is whenever I log into EL it seems to be more and more laggy. The first time it was played by my BF and he says it was fine. Then I had it, and I had about 20minutes of play before lagging out and resyncs began. Now my BF told me this morning that he tried to log in and couldn't even move. I don't know if this is my connection, or because my FPS is so high (I hear too high is bad, and I usually hover around 180FPS) or because of something not-to-do-with-me such as server load etc. Can anyone help? I don't seem to have issues using the internet to browse or download, or to log into EVE (though I can't undock without crashing so I can't tell you how well it flies). AMD 64 X2 2.6GHz 4GB RAM 2x ATI Radeon HD PRO 2600 160GB HDD (Only just built PC so about 150ish free) Downloaded EL the other day, so recent version. On Ubuntu Gutsy (7.10 I think) Got a Rangemax Netgear Wireless card, connection normally 22%ish (downloads at 200kbs generally)

So what exactly am I meant to do about this error: ~/.el$ ./el.x86-64.linux.bin I/O warning : failed to load external entity "sound/sound_config.xml" Segmentation fault (core dumped) Because I have read this thread through a dozen times and I cannot figure out what is wrong. I have a servers.lst that I copied from .el to .elc and I have the same el.ini in .el as in .elc/main What's the problem? :/

I haven't even got as far as most of you, but there seems little point starting a new thread. I don't seem to have this 'install.sh' I need to chmod to 775 anywhere in my directory or in the .tar I just downloaded. Been searching for the answer but just can't find it..

Erm, I don't seem to have a map editor. (I'm on linux..) However, I do have the map co-ords of some not-working fires - should I post these?
