"Bridge Over Troubled Gargoyles" is my EL theme.... Pachelbel's Canon is a great lullabye, but also has been turned into some righteous jams by many bands (not counting the Carpenters.) It's a great antidote for overdosing on Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. Hippie song of the day: "Wooden Ships" by Crosby, Stills and Nash. Weirdo Oldie of the day: "Hooked on a Feeling" by Rusted Root (goblin love song.) Sorry I'm so old, but after 15 minutes of Arctic Monkeys, I just have to revert!

I have created a few new characters over the last 2 years just to see whats new for newbies and how to fight Brownies etc. Just made one recently to start a fresh uncluttered Quest Log and do the quests that I'm familiar with one by one. The tutorial bot has lots of great help and advice as well as 3 very simple jobs to complete. Most newbies seem to want to dig into playing without reading and ask what to do next on channel. Fair enough I guess, but it brings a lot of extra noise to the Newbie Channel taxing the volunteers who monitor it (of which I am not.) Could the tutorials be more inclusive, such as adding the tour plus simple manu, alch, and pot? For instance the leather gloves, minor heal potion, fire essences? Options to buy or make yourself, combining what jobs can already be found at the start. It might send newbies out into Draia with a "!" instead of a "?" which seems to scare new players away. Maybe a 'school' on IP or some such... Probably just me, but I'm the type to read the manual before trying anything, software, hardware, underware, etc.... ................ this may be why I don't have a girlfriend. They don't come with manuals....

Is there a glitch in the tour? The Tarsengaard guide no longer offers the location of the next one, and the previous guide doesn't identify the Tarsengaard one, just the area of the map.

I didn't think of it as a 'quest' per se. I did keep the info vague just in case. After all, it's the tour that starts on IP, more like a tutorial. Maybe this should be moved to the bugs forum.

I'm another victim of this, although it seems I have to log out and in again to get the sound back. Today after doing that I noticed that it played one chorus of the White Stone Stomp and just stopped. Sound files are fine, and everything else works ingame, no crashes.

I use a trackball and it suits EL perfectly. Four buttons, ball, and wheel; all programmable 1000 ways. None of which I've messed with for the game, but could I'm sure. The only thing I hate to admit about it is it's a MS product.....

Here's an extra caution! Same thing happened to me, and I downloaded the new client. What I forgot was that I could have retrieved my old password from the earlier client since I had it set for auto log-in in my el.ini file in the program folder. The new client wiped out all that stuff including Quest Log and map markers. Then again, I may have this all wrong.... Anyway, I know it's always useful to keep a copy of your old program folder in case something does get lost. You may have your password stored somewhere without knowing it. Meanwhile, I'm running a whole new character. Still just as fun!

I don't need it, but voted yes. It is a handy trick! For some reason I recall a previous idea of having special days shown on the EL home page being being shot down. This sounds like a new awakening! Definitely doesn't seem to give any players an edge anyway, after all, anyone who can drop what they're doing and log in just for a special day has already got an edge!

The nocturnal concept might be easy to implement. In RL you don't see rabbits in nighttime and raccoons in daytime, for instance. With a balance of small animals, some would only spawn at different times of day. If flying critters ever come about, then bats and owls would pwn the night skies! It might be interesting if maps really became dark at night, to the point where if you stray off the lighted paths, all you can see are two colors, black and really, really dark gray. Oh yes, and the eyes of animals and monsters! This would give us reason to carry lanterns and spells of light, and night visibility..... Okee... I'm getting out of control here.....
