Its simple to me, look at the question, if someone intentionally searched for your hyperbag, that part shows planning a forethought designed to do one thing, take that which you made. As for Spleenfeeder's remark about leaving bags in public lands, the remark is a bit strange in a place where only guild maps are not public lands. Half the posts here talk about how the hyperbags were not meant to be tempory storages or such, if so, then why locks? there is no other logical reason for hyperbags in the first place. I will agree that many people are stupid in placing the bags and do deserve to lose them, putting one right at a busy deposit is like asking people to take it, if your gonna make one do it in a remote place and take things to it in such a way that others don't suspect. In my case it all boils down to something that seems rarer by the day, taking something someone else worked for lacks honor, something all to often ignored. Hyperbags, work bags or death bags are all the same to me, if I find one I either try to return it or relock it and walk away. But this is no longer my problem to deal with as I am leaving EL, so I will allow the current members of the EL community to decide what kind of honor they prefer. Peace with you all, DG

I got off work last night and connected first try from Taylorville, Illinois on my DSL from CTItech/Illinois Consilidated, found some interesting things on the maps and was hoping to continue checking them out today.....Wrong!!! At 4 or 5 AM I had EL, when I got back up at 10, no EL. Hopefully when I get off work at 11:30 I will once again be able to play, at least I might have my EL nights!

I attempted a traceroute to that IP and it timed out, I sent you the details of that in a forum PM Entropy, hope it helps ya spot the bottleneck. I miss EL!!

Just wanted to say that I got to participate in both invasions and had a blast. Its been a long time since we had this type of invasion and I for one have missed em. For those unfamiliar with these invasions, unless otherwise announced, IP is usually a safe map to stay on or inside buildings on most maps. I thank all those involved for the hard work and the roleplaying. Its the things like this that keep the game fresh with that little touch of the unexpected.

Sounds like a great idea to me, I know some people prefer trading with bots and others with humans, giving each a seperate channel would expidite things for them.

Perhaps make one PK map that has an underlying strata of lodestone that prevents the use of any of tne Uber armors or weapons. Just leather and bronze armor and wooden and bronze weapons would work. It would make an interesting place to train and lets face it, no one uses rostos to save their leathers. Might also say that magic more complex than say level 5 and magical items would be messed up by the strong magetic force in the area and work,if at all, in strange and often detrimental ways. Just an idea of how to implement MasterPiter's idea, which sounds interesting to me.

Hats off to the Rangers and 1&0 for their teamwork and help in returning the items that Sartan stole from my guildie, I wish all his victims could be aided in a similar fashion.

Sartan is not in this guild, it is one of the many he had the nerve to disgrace with his presence, but no longer. Good luck with your guild guys losing that one went a good way in the right direction.

This looks like the kind of boost that crafting has been needing for a long time.

1 rule that people should follow before posting someone as an outlaw, you should have proof, either a few very reliable witnesses known to be neutral to both parties or many random ones, you have neither here, just a suspicion, that, in my opinion is not sufficient to name someone an outlaw. I have known scarr to be willing to take anything from a PK kill, but have never heard of em bagjumping in non-pk areas and I know they don't need to. Arnieman and I have both been PKed by scarr, but never bagjumped and it seems out of charactor.

err... the #day stuff is completely server side, the browser completely client... are you sure that the links you were planing to open were recognisable? (starting with http:// or www. IIRC) Yes I am certain I used the F2 both before and after the day but it would not even try to work while the day of joule was in effect and I tried it on several links

The only bug I noticed during 1/2 food day was that I was unable to use F2 to open my firefox browser, I could use it before and after the day but not during it

Funny, I walked through TD yesterday in leather, saw the fluffy trainers, even tried to spot a few for em, got pked by a member of HC in full armor, but I was running my low level alt, yet people say this don't happen. If anyone can tell me how an item destroyed by the branch is any more gone to you than an item you steal from the newbies you kill is gone from them then you might have a point, otherwise its just a case of "its not fair when I lose stuff" crying. As for a poll to show Ent, he already decided, the branch is here, get over it. As for mistaking this for RL as Lorck implied, no. In real life I've been places that would have most of ya crying for your mommy and have the scars to prove it. Someone commented that when ya go into PK you are agreeing that you expect to fight, you better reread that next time you go, it says other players may try to kill you. No one forces anyone to act like a bully or a thief, that is your choice. But, if you act like one I will gladly treat you like one. Those who pk me for no reason but that I'm on their "turf" will get nothing from me, no healing, no items, and be put on my ignore. Always nice when I even return bags I find wandering the PK area and have done so for almost every PK guild in the game. I am not against PK, don't get me wrong, honorable pk don't happen when your 5 times the other guys strength and there is no way you can say it does. Since most of the PKers who seem most against this only seem to attack those much weaker I wonder where they get the right to cry about "honor". The branch is a weapon, please feel free to buy one and break my leather armor or my bone, I won't cry, but don't you either.

You are the one missing the point Lorck, I have NEVER attacked another player, yet I have been in pk battles over 80 times and even have 2 kills to my credit(both in metal armor to my leather), if you don't bug me I dont break anything, its that simple

Thanks for all the laughs guys, I needed it. Lets face it these weapons are here for a purpose, maybe to prevent the PKers that like acting like highwaymen and robbers from accosting every explorer or merchant that wanders through a dangerous area??? As for honor, how many never complete things like the wine quest because of a few jerks in full armor and glowing pink swords that think its great fun to kell newbs and then crow about how honorable they are less than an hour later?? Now the same guilds whos members have jumped me when I was unarmed and they tagteamed me in full plate are crying about honor, ROFL. Real honor would be given to those who escort people on missions and such safely through dangerous areas, not to the Uber thieves that kill and rob those weaker than themselves for fun and profit. I will continue crossing any pk areas I feel like, if ya wanna kill me don't expect me to cry and plead for my stuff back, but don't expect healing, anything I sell or bag retrieval when you get in trouble. As for the branch, I don't have one yet, but I will.

Orick, I recently had a similar video problem when forced to use an old outdated monitor, in the EL folder there is a configuration proggie, set it to its lowest resolution. You may be able to use higher resolution later but don't bet on it. when I would get on my screen would be messed up a bit, like yours, minimize the proggie and then bring it back up, that was all I had to do to get it to work, even with a monitor that was over a decade old. If I pay you for the thermal sword you pay me back for another branch, right? They both cost a lot ingame. As for staying out of PK maps unless ya wanna PK explain how you can finish certain quests that way or harvest a certain ore shortly. I will be harvesting it eventually, carrying 2 rostos and a branch with me. I usually cross PK maps wearing leather and a wooden shield and get attacked by PKers with double my MP and plate, cuisses and greaves along with at least a serp, is there some kind of challenge there?? I have very little PK practice, its not something I intend to do a lot, don't need practice as a thief. Highwaymen and bandits are the only ones that routinely act this way, if you do I will consider you one. Killing someone for the fun of it just cause your bigger is like the bullies I remember from school. I have been on PK maps with real "honorable" PKers who had the decency to ask someone who was not an enemy if they wanted to fight, not just jump anyone, those guys, like sMooMs and DonPedro I respect, the ones who act otherwise...I don't.

I fully agree that some players tend to discriminate against new players, but those are the few, though sometimes they are the more vocal ones. I have been playing for about 4 or 5 months now, still consider myself a Newbie, and really appreciate the help and encouragement I have gotten along the way, I try to spend a few days each month helping in the newbie channel, after all the mods and helpers there are really pushed some times and real help from some of us lets them get a break instead of trying to help 30 people at once. As for the few that seem to think that having played longer makes them special, forget them, they are usually the ones who can't handle change and quit playing when they can't cope. Fresh blood and fresh views will help keep the game alive and growing and those who help the newbies of today might be helping the ones that will be more advanced than them next month. Some of the ones I helped get used to EL have gone much farther than I have in very little time. I tend to hang on C2 a lot and while we may joke with new people there, there is not a nicer group IMHO anywhere on EL. I watch level 80+ players drop what they are doing almost every day to rescue some Newbie's DB and take it to them. If some of the older players, gamewise that is, want to be prejudiced, that's fine, still plenty of room in my ignore list for them to be added.

I can't believe there are still people using Norton's. I have seen this product go from an antivirus to crapware the last 5 or 6 years and it just keeps getting worse. I've seen IT people that swear by it go down in flames when it actually caused their company to lose data. It is bloatware, hides files that don't remove when you delete it normally, and even keeps track of what you do and shares that info like any other spyware. If you want a good free or cheap antivirus I suggest AVG, AntiVir, or Avast all of which run much better and have better detection and much lower resource usage than Norton's.

I was fighting things in Naralik the other day when I noticed someone staying near the edge of my vision, the next thing I fought put up a good fight and had me low on points but I was winning when suddenly it started getting healed, that was enough to kill me, of course by the time I got back my bag was long gone.

Rather than complain or moan I would like to use this time when I'm not glued to the game to thank Ent and the whole staff for all the hard work and thankless hours they put in on the game. Its amazing the effort that goes into keeping this game fresh and good while keeping it free. Thanks a lot folks!
