eventhough aislinn asked me not to bother posting here, even after i gave in partially because certain points i hadn't considered b4, i will neway. There is no way that they could catch it if they are fighting anyways, and if you are fighting, do you really think you could hit your target?? if that's the case learner, u CERTAINLY don't have time to drink a potion, or use any items while fighting. for that matter, in close combat, you don't have time, nor the concentration to cast any spells. btw, IRL i have passed things to other ppl in the middle of a fight, fairly accurately too, at least to where they could catch it. (sometimes i miss my highschool days, they were fun) well i think it should be a pass type thing neway, i could pass some1 a sword or even an open knife in such a way that it's catchable, or at least to the point that it won't impale them if they don't catch it. i do think though, that it should be limited to about the same distance u can trade w/ an a storage NPC ------ if we want to go for realism, then maybe we should also take out alot of the communication tools. just have whispering and that person has to be RIGHT NEXT to you in local and have global. it makes sense following the arguements against this idea. actually, i reset at a fairly high lvl thinking i could get a bunch of perks at 1ce and b ok stat wise. i took: fast regen artificer there is no fork conjurer i got these for a balanced character, that can make most of what he uses, now and in the future. i realized that hurt me as i got to higher lvls and couldn't get much in the way of nexuses or attributes that fast, so i took a couple neg perks to help get me close to where i should have been. powerhungry antisocial Edit: now, if i can just get TIME to do some lvling, ill b ok...lol

ATTENTION: For those who are aware of the downfall of GOLD, I humbly ask that u don't think Viss has any part in that. Viss disappeared nigh 2 weeks ago, and due to a recent recruiting drive that turned out MUCH better than expected there was an imbalance that was going to be corrected, but viss disappeared just before that was supposed to happen. I talk to him out of game as well and I haven't even heard from him. I personally think something is wrong and it will be a LONG time before he comes back if he ever does. Most of the good players of GOLD are out of there now, Because I created another guild to preserve the integrity and honor that GOLD was built to represent. I will post on my guild when i have it completely organized. back to the state of GOLD. GOLD is now leaderless w/ only a rank 18 alt that might have 1 day become a bot. if viss isn't heard from by next month, when 1 of the merchant NPCs becomes available (assuming 1 will,) that alt will be used to destroy GOLD since its leader obviously will not be comming back by then. If i find out anything more on the state of Viss i will put it here along with any other information i think is pertinent. understand that the actions of those in GOLD are not the actions of those who founded GOLD and basically it is a dead guild. Because when i realized i couldn't take over to fix things i did the only thing i believed i could do. so again i ask whatever you do don't blame viss for what's befallen GOLD.

I'm sure something can be done about it, but I don't have an international keyboard and I'm not sure how the keystrokes are processed so I'm not going to be a huge amount of help adding it to the client. well any US keyboard can b set to international settings. from my understanding, Torg, u don't use winblows(yes, i spelled that how i wanted,) but winblows users can set their keyboards for international use by doing the following: I ) open up the control panel II ) XP differs how to get to change these settings so i'll post both ways: 1 ) for xp: a ) u go to date, time, language, and regional options. b ) then u go to regional and language options. c ) then click on the languages tab. d ) then click on the details button. e ) u then choose the add option and choose "United States-International" 2 ) for '98, (and i believe 2k, and ME,) or just those that have set to classic view on XP a ) go to regional and language options (will probably read: regional and language... ) b ) then follow c-e listed above. i'm sure all the devs that use winblows know that, i wasn't trying to b condecending or nething, (figured after my posts in another thread that needed to b said...lol,) i merely posted that for ne1 wanting to see what i was talking about. but those who choose just to see what i'm talking about or devs that would like to check this out for me. the keys mentioned in my previous posts are the switches, like alt, exept unlike alt, u don't have to hold 1 down and hit the other. typing " ' " and "a" consecutively gives "á" for example. just to b sure the switches are: ' " ` ~ and naturally alt+ several other keys oh and i checked, and using the international setting also disables the alt key in the client but play w/ those settings here, or a chatroom, (i wouldn't reccomend posting the playing around gibberish here or in a populated chatroom.) then try ingame trying to use any of the switches or alt. for ne1 that wants to.

i didn't see enough of the flag to b able to make it out from just a small hint like that. i don't pay much attention to the banners neway, just like IRL i don't pay much attention to street signs after the first time i go somewhere. after the first time, i KNOW where im going IRL, and in-game, i have maps. though i don't mean that to be any kind of insult to the devs or nething. i think that flags, opposed to those wooden posts is alittle "nicer" looking, and seem to fit more w/ Draia's personality, if that makes sense. though currently it's not really necessary (at least for me) to read the signs to know where i am, or where i'm going.

if it's not EL, it should b the internet in general, especially seeing as i saw somewhere that the US was the texting capital in the world. even mobile phones use messengers like yahoo, and msn for texting to ppl on computers, and eachother, several types of chat rooms w/ all kinds of different topics, and u can't forget all the other ways to communicate and interact w/ eachother on the net, like this forum here. as well as games like EL and several games UNlike EL. welp, take or leave that for what it's worth

actually, as a former IRC addict, there were times i'd spend up to 15.5 hrs chatting and going to work on 0 sleep. more when i didn't have to work, or if i was unhappy w/ the job, called in. and ppl wise i agree that EL can b a good place to chat, though, i wish something could b done about the way the chat part of the client doesn't like the use of keyboards set to international, causing extra work to type a apostrophe, quotation mark, "`" or "~" (forgot their names at this exact moment,) making some1 have to hit spacebar after each use of those, unlike most other places to type that it checks the next keystroke to see wether it's the 2 separate characters, or the 1 special character. is there any way this can b fixed? (would just like to know if it's posible)

actually, i see no deficiency in me but more in u, i can read any post any1 can make in any form of english, whether it b transcription quality, legal shorthand, broken english, chat slang or 1337 ©H475P33k, and even bits and pieces of other languages,(and with the aid of even babel fish - worst online translator i'd ever seen - could at least make sense of posts fully in other languages if i chose,) so if there is a deficiency it has to b in those who can't do as much. i've even met the more polite posters that had points i hadn't considered half way, so if u still can't read it, it's ALL on u now!! also, as omfug88 pointed out any form of writing is a form of expression, each showing that person's individuality. if there were strict rules i would either follow them or refuse to either join or post at my discretion. but there are no such rules, leaving myself and every1 else to type how they see fit. actually, bartenders have their positions for their social skills, to be able to handle as many possible patrons that can come in there as possible, if they couldn't understand a variety of ppl, including inebriated 1's, then they wouldn't keep those jobs long. i've already given as far as i'm willing to give because there were some good points mentioned for me to give that far. i've seen no new points that it needs to be any clearer than it already is. i'll tell u what, u speak and write in Ye Olde English flawlessly from now on, and i'll type transcription quality. untill then, tough shit! reguards, À^^<>|\|©()\/\/|3<>Â¥ (from my msn messenger been like that over a yr just seemed appropriate w/ that last comment)

Personally, I think that people take you (meaning general you, not you specifically) more seriously because you take the time to carefully think out and type your post. For some types of forums, it is perfectly acceptable to use chatspeak, because it is not so serious a forum. Chatspeak is generally connected to chatrooms, 1337 n00bs, and preteens. For other types of forums however, just as you would not use chatspeak to type out an essay or a resume, you would need to get your point across as clearly as possible without the use of chatspeak. The suggestions forum is a good place to type out your ideas clearly, as you may be easily misunderstood or even ignored altogether if you use chatspeak. As for not resisting the proliferation of chatspeak, I hear horror stories of chatspeak being used in school assignments and business reports. It is truly unfortunate. How would Shakespeare have made a sonnet with such phrases as "brb" and "g2g"? Actually, I want to try that now... actually, i've heard of that too, and i do think there should b common sense to that. however, u don't give a propper presentation that u just give in passing to some1, meaning u don't see some1 in a grocery store and give them a presentation on finding the best produce. u simply say, "y'know if u do this u'll find this," and go on u'r merry way. you don't really care if they take u'r advice or not afterall it's on them if they don't. after reading other posts in certain sections of the forum, i've noticed that the devs will not only take or leave a suggestion no matter HOW well it's presented, but they'll take it and use it in the other-life. i could give a couple such examples. if they're going to b that casual about accepting suggestions, i honestly don't see y i should worry about the presentation of them. try that though, i want to see how it turns out, could b entertaining...lol me neither, but u neglected to take a few things into acct. 1) i'm not THAT 1337 - i'm more old school in my chat slang taking most of it from legal shorthand that's actually taught. 2)the way things r going, in 50 more yrs that might b the way the english language evolves. afterall, it's not like we don't use the language the same way we did 50 yrs ago either. it's language drift and it'll continue to happen whether we like it or not. well now u met another, i have no such deficiency, i merely type the way i do because while this is a fun game w/ a good community it is still a diversion. i wouldn't go to a bar and give the bartender a formal presentation on a suggestion on a new drink either. it is of no material gain to me to present any suggestion i make here formerly, so i do not see the reason i should bother cleaning up my typing any more than i already have. i've made it easier to read, so if that's not good enough, then so be it. i refuse to give a formal presentation for a casual suggestion. if i wasn't going to b paid for it, i wouldn't care. if i bothered to share it at all. if it's THAT brilliant, i'm sure i could also figure out a way to b paid for it. it's not that i CAN'T type properly, nor that i don't know how, when i choose to i can type perfectly. the thing is that here it's that it's not important enough for me to do so. i am not paid for anything i post in this forum, nor am i going to b compensated in any way shape or form. i do not make the suggestions i make for any purpose other than the betterment of the game. i thank the devs for all their hard work and effort, but they're doing this because they want to, and they do get some compensation in the forms of experience, and even alittle money considering the EL store. while eventhough it IS a small pittance, they are still getting SOMETHING. ------- and lmao hardcore

i apologize if u'r offended but after this was over i stated i was wanting to play still because that's the mood this thread has put me in. also stated that if some1 wanted to continue, that they should take this as i have as a fun diversion. u even said u were from chats so u should know this type of diversion pretty well, i'm actually suprised u took it so seriously. though i will admit the last bit was a bit much, out of courtesy to the rest of the devs, i'll edit it, it was a comment by 1 person not the whole staff. Thanks for apologizing but I think you owe Aislinn an apology and Roja too and maybe the whole forum in general. You're obviously an intelligent articulate person, however you took things a little too personal. I've been playing for 15 months (I still feel like a newbie, btw) at EL off and on pretty much and I know most of these people here and I have to say that from my personal experience nothing which was said to you was intended to be a "put down" or insult of any kind. If you felt disrespected, perhaps they did too? Honestly I think that you overreacted a bit from the beginning and took everything way too personal and blew it all out of proportion and context both. But we can all do that from time to time. We are only human, after all. Except for moi and I'm a goddess.. just joking. I'm as bad as anyone else. Its so easy to misunderstand one another in text especially when you're dealing with different languages, cultures, etc.. We can't hear the transition in one's voice nor see body language or facial expressions to know if someone is angry, joking, sad or happy, etc. All we have to go is mere words. Words are so easily misconstrued. I do accept your apology but I encourage you to give everyone here a chance so that we in return can give you a chance, too. One more thing, EL is more than just a game. (which most i believe would admit that is much improved comparatively.) therefore, the way i see it, they deserves no such apology. firstly i'll say that that's not a bad example , u have a good command of it for a non-native speaker my deal is that too much emphasis is put on the way ppl type, it's like judging ppl by the accent they use. (and trust me i've heard some interesting accents just in the US.) typing is an EXTREMELY poor factor to judge on, because like savyl said earlier the net (chat especially) has corrupted ppl's typing. i still have the ABILITY to type at transcription quality but it slows me down a fair bit because i actually do have to think about it now. 1 option would to b to give up chatting completely, but i don't think that's an option i'd take, because especially when it comes to IRC it opens the world up being able to speak w/ ppl all over the globe. i could also just type slower in forums and the like but then multi-tasking like i do, it would take a day and half for 1 post( exaggeration but still) , and i don't have that kind of patience. besides the way some1 types is in no way indicative of a person's intelligence or anything else. plus, the way texting on mobile phones, chatting, and everything else are becoming more and more mainstream, it's not going to get any better, but become even more common. i for 1 realize that's where things are headed, and am not going to start resisting it now, it's too late.

I have an excellent grasp of the English language and I can't stand reading your posts. I also don't want to take the extra hour needed to make sense of each one of them. And as one of the dev's you want to read this, I make no apology for not bothering with them and moving on to the next idea. It isn't just about learning disabilities and non-native speakers. It's about common courtesy and some people having a very high opinion of themselves. Make no mistake...your ideas presented in an overly long pile of gibberish is NOT doing me or the other devs any favors. Save yourself the time. well communication is the key to success in ANY endeavor, so my suggestion that u get out and see how other ppl in other spheres than u'r own still applies. as u see my style HAS changed to be more considerate to those that i have a good reason to be considerate to. as for u, if u still can't read and understand this MUCH easier, i REALLY suggest u turn off u'r computer, take a month off and go explore the REAL WORLD. talk to ppl and learn more about how most ppl in the world speak, write, type because i think an experience like that will be INVALUEABLE to u in this and all of u'r future endeavors. it pry wouldn't hurt for u to spend some time in IRC chat as well i think u could learn a few things there as well, not only in communication w/ ppl, but also about internet security. judging by the logon to the client alone, there is a SERIOUS lack of thought put into that so far. if that's the way u feel aislinn that's u'r choice. if u'll accept no less than transcription quality typing, then it's u'r loss.

since u obviously haven't been reading the latest posts in this thread, let me get u up to speed. vanyel pointed out that i wasn't considering those who were having a hard time reading in english to begin w/, and how my lack of punctuation was making it even harder for them. the reason i listened to him is because he was at least good enough to present this in an unassuming, civil way basing on his own experiences, unlike most of the others who were being either condecending, or judgemental of the person behind the typing. if it would have been put to me in a civil way before maybe just: "i'm not very fluent in english, and am having a hard time understanding, could u please type so i can understand better?" or something like that in a polite manner in a PM or something, BEFORE this started, i pry would have started to accomodate. because i honestly didn't give any thought to those who would have a hard time because of a disability or just learning the language - and to those who do have trouble to start w/, i do apologize and as shown here i will clean it up a bit. that will mean punctuation to help, not my use of "b", "r", "u", "4" or other shortening of words because it's a habbit and they are just how they sound in english if u pronounce them. after this enlightenment i will try to meet certain others half-way (but only half) the native english speakers, i have no apology for, because they have a good grasp of the english language and should b able to read it without much trouble since alot of my typing is from legal shorthand as well and widely recognized, like "/" instead of and/or, "w/o", "w/", and the lack of punctuation u can't always tell breaks when ppl speak, and works for the written word as well. any american that doesn't know that needs to travel outside of where they were born for a bit and talk to different ppl in different areas of just the US alone.
