    You don't compile .NET code like you do normal programs, it is sort of bytecode like Java, dunno why microsoft decided to use a misleading .exe extension for .NET binaries

  4. If I would make my own MMORPG I would probably try it this way. But changing EL this way would be too drastic I think, many would leave. It may be good idea as such but it would transform EL into a completely different game. Maybe it would be fun though Imagine you harvest flowers lets say 100 items, then they deplete and regrow somewhere else on Draia, and happy searching

    Are there any improvements planned in the "tank" area? I like the idea, but what we have now (48 toughness possible) is far from a tank, every1 with thermal or orcslayer/ stars medallion would laugh at such a tank. Also, if you invest in toughness and probably some coord/instinct to block or at least reduce severity of criticals, not much is left for rationality. So you healing ability would be crippled too.

    Probably funniest thing is armed fem orcs dont drop bones, but armed males do (maybe same with unarmed) Cyclops are huge human like creatures, according to mythology etc, so they need to have a lot of bones. BUT the game is an approximate simulation, sometimes even inaccurate on purpose. If we seek ultra realism every creature should drop skin/fur, bones, fur; player chars too How about dwarf scalp? All in all, game is a game and argument that some creature should drop bones is not very valid. While I guess the idea was: lets have more bone drops from monsters. I don't think it's needed either, the market price of bone naturally sets the percent of those who have perk

    First, the compromise about natural HP is a good idea. CoLs are abused, I agree, and this should help. However I admit I don't like formulae that depend on magic* rationality. This way, magic 21 and rationality 16 seems better than magic 80 and rationality 4. Which is very odd, IMHO. Maybe previous idea about A* magic+ B* rationality was better?

  14. Mage class formulas

    Fairly high chance to survive, if he/she uses CoL, armor, weapons and fights opponents that have 20-30 a/d less. With the proposed formula, 30 magic levels would make only 45 hp difference, that is not much. And training magic level difference of 30 is even harder than a/d. Also, as I probably said before, EL skills depend mostly on level. A/D skills depend on cross-attributes too, but it's roughly like 1 a/d level - 1 cross attribute. IMHO fighters being also mages is somewhat ok, same as if I am manufacturer lets say and I have high alchemy level. That makes me professional alchemist too. I think EL A/D system isn't bad and it's a good example how to do magic skill too. Cross-attributes (in this case rationality) should be very important but not overwhelm the level, because what's the point of training then. Edit: I see my post isnt as clear as I wanted. I mean, with the formula I discussed, mage efficiency will mostly depend on rationality. Same goes for formulae that have magic* rationality, because levels have exponential system and are hard to increase twice or thrice. And rationality depends on spent pickpoints. How do you get overall levels - pickpoints? Easy way is to train A/D. Most likely, mages will still be heavy a/d trainers to get picpoints for more rationality and more effect instead of training the primary skill - magic. Is that a "separate" mage class?

    The ability to heal is very mportant to every fighter, PKer, monster trainer. If amplifier is used, fighters can double effect by adding 8 pickpoints to will or reasoning (those who previously had 4). Hence this will become something obligatory and will limit attribute choices for the fighter. mag* 1.5+ rat*5 is a bit harsh too. Lets take an example. Magic level around 80 is near top 10 magic, something very high. A fighter with such extraordinary level and 4 rationality would restore only 140 hp. If we take a/d skill, attack and defense are very important, not less important than the cross attributes. With magic skill and these formulas, level would be unimportant compared to rationality. And it would be first such EL skill. I would accept formula like mag* 2 + rat* 5 or mag * 2.5+ rat* 5. Hopefully time will prove I have been wrong and the proposed formulas will make a fun game

    Translation is expensive in Lithuania (where I live), I bet in Sweden it's even much more expensive. In Eternal-lands, 2k is a very low amount too, you can harvest that quickly. So I guess you need to increase the reward to at least 50k or so

    As I've heard an idea somewhere, it would be nice if we could have an opportunity to remove perks, especially negative ones without resetting. Most of us have taken neg perks as a trade-offs to get the needed pp, but under new game design this could be needed no longer. In short, if we do a grand redesign, it is fair that players have some freedom in redesigning characters too. Edit: or introduce perk stones. Once again, changing magic system is a big change. It may suck a lot. It may make EL a much better game. And no one can tell that, because I think its subjective - game is cool if the audience (we, players) likes it and vice versa. And our opinions aren't enough, we may like one thing in theory but dislike in game. Anyway I understand it is not easy for a game developer to make such decisions, so I will respect any.

    I think the proposed magic system is too drastic, especially what concerns restoration. If monsters and weapons in PK are left as-is, all fighters will need rationality to restore (with my current magic 61 (iirc) and rationality 4 I would restore for ~70 hp, nearly impossible to train/PK). So many people would have to redo builds and so on. I am not claiming that this would ruin the game but as you, Entropy, said it precisely: In short, this would change the game's fighting system dramatically. Such changes surely won't work at first and would need to be adjusted a few times. True, EL is beta we are warned everything can change, but people who have put significant amount of work into their character might be upset if something doesnt work for them. I would suggest implementing this system on a PK server first, and if it works as expected, it could be used on main too. Edit: I would do it magic*2 not magic/2, because magic/2 doesnt make it level dependent much, level 80 (which is pretty high and hard to reach) would differ from starter level (21) only by 30 healed hp. 30 hp is nothing in this epoch of CoLs and MoLs

  24. Attributes cap for the main server

    I dislike the idea abut magic and rationality. I won't repeat what MP said, I agree with his thoughts, just to add a bit: this won't increase choice in attributes, but decrease it. If you are a fighter, rationality (and more likely in the form of will) will be a must. I doubt many would take reasoning, because if you have low will, you would lack ethereal points to cast spells. Another point. Rationality is currently quite powerful itself in the form of +EXP. You could make it give more a/d exp (currently its only +rat/3). What concerns restoration in general, I liked the previous suggestions about magic level. Lets rename restoration to "great healing" spell. Restored HP = (Magic lvl - 11)* 5, I think that would be a good formula Edit: My thoughts are valid for scheme like it is now. If you are going to create a "separate" mage class, powerful enough to fight by the means of magic only, that might be a good idea. But the game should be reformed a lot in this case, like deleting magic immunity spell and replacing it by partial protection based on magic level, rationality and similar stuff.
