It's just the medical companies that wants you to spend more money on their vaccines - spreading "Fear Uncertanty and Doubt" helps their bottomline profit. Furthermore the current flu vaccines have some side-effects, so it's definately not something you should take just for feeling safe - feel healthy by exercising frequently and eating well, that's the best vaccine you can give your body. The problem is if a mutated flu virus epedimic starts - but then the vaccines you're taking today would (most likely) not help at all and you'll have to be vaccined again.
