I’ve tried emailing aisy_el@yahoo.com previously on 12/7, 16/7 and 23/7 is that email address still correct?

 

I'm writing to ask for some clarification regarding the bans on my characters, and now the IP ban on my accounts.

 

I'm genuinely confused about what I've done wrong and would really appreciate any explanation you can provide.

 

A couple of weeks ago I tried logging into my original character, Ozbud, and discovered it had been banned, even though I hadn't played that character in around three years.

 

While trying to remember the login details for my alternate character, I created a new character named TripleKill to check whether I was IP banned. I was able to log in successfully, so I realised I wasn't IP banned at that stage. I didn't intend to keep using that character, as I wasn't happy with the name.

 

After remembering my login details, I was able to access my original alternate character, Musashii, and I also created a new character called AlwaysBaked. I played on those characters for a day, but when I returned the following day, both had been banned.

After that, I created another new character, BakedPotato, played for a couple of days, and have now come back to find that my IP has also been banned.

 

Throughout this time I haven't interacted with other players in-game, aside from speaking with my old online friend Kingpin in the past. I understand he has apparently broken the rules, although I'm not entirely sure of the details beyond hearing something about macro use. Regardless, I haven't been involved in any of that, and I don't believe his actions have anything to do with me.

 

I'm simply trying to understand what I've done that has resulted in these repeated bans. My intention was only to return to Eternal Lands for some casual gameplay after several years away.

 

If I've misunderstood or unintentionally broken a rule, I sincerely apologise. I'd be grateful if you could explain what the issue is, and if possible, give me the opportunity to play again—even if that means starting over with a fresh character.

And your "old friend" Kingpin is the problem:

He is permanently banned from the game after several cases of macroing, and a few others shenanigans.

He also has used your character Ozbud at one point, making it one of his alts. And all of those are locked.

 

So far for the Ozbud character. Now to the other ones: you made several new characters, with no attempt 

to contact moderators in-game (as far as I can tell). As we see them as alts of ozbud, and you didn't seem 

willing to talk about the ozbud lock, those were locked as well (I know, different IP, but that's the problem with

VPNs and proxies). Keep in mind that for us, at this stage, we were dealing with Kingpin.

 

Then there was yet another character creation, again with no visible attempt to talk to us... So to get your

attention, it seemed stronger measures were needed, so lock + IP ban (still from the assumption we might 

be dealing with Kingpin, who we really don't want back in game).

Weird.  I got no emails from you until you cc'd me after you forwarded them to to radu, and even then that went to spam with no trigger telling me I had an email there.  Sorry about that.

Yep, Kingpin is the problem.  As revi said, he is not welcome back and any character he uses is also locked.  Rule 4 clearly lays out that not only is bypassing a lock or ban going to cause somebody trouble, but also helping somebody else get around it (sharing a character is one way) also will cause a lock and possible IP ban for the person assisting.

 

Sharing characters is bad.  Let me quote rule 8 entitled Do Not Give Out Your Password:

Quote

Once you give your password out to anyone for any reason, even for the purpose of character sharing, you relinquish all rights to that character. Eternal Lands is not responsible for the return of your character or account, or for the actions of your character once you have disclosed your password. Characters that break the rules can and will be locked, regardless if "someone else" was on it.

 

You might want to choose your friends a little more carefully.

thanks for your response.

maybe ask what triggered Ozbud as being used by Kingpin? I don’t recall ever giving him my login details, was it an IP flag?

I do recall him standing by and healing me while I was grinding XP one day but we were actively on voice chat during that time, and at one point I did log into one of his characters Mugen and did a dungeon run of some kind with him but as mentioned I don’t recall giving him my login details and can find no record of doing so in our discord logs so if I did I can accept that as a mistake on my behalf.

 

as for the new characters, I didn’t realise I had to contact someone, I was waiting for a post to appear here but it never did, I tried sending emails and apparently they were never received and I only just found out I could post as a guest to get access to the forums so for that I apologize.

 

how do we proceed from here? I’d like to be able to play the game but don’t believe I should be punished for the actions of someone else on the other side of the world.

So who guided you here to get help? (And guided you to the EL website emails?)  Kingpin per chance?  And Ozpin was created in 2019 and Kingpin is the only one you kept in contact with in all that time?  And interesting he's the only thing you can think of that could cause these locks and bans...

I guided myself here trying to find out about my bans.

i found the forums and email addresses through the main EL website.

i know nothing about the character Ozpin.

and kingpin is the only person in this game that i have ever interacted with, who else was I supposed to be in contact with?

 

i know Kingpin from Nine Dragons Awakens at Red Fox Games where we became good online friends, I’ve never met the bloke in real life, I’ve never even left Australia. He introduced me to this game as he knows I prefer chill, older games.

Yes I created Ozbud in 2019 prior to KPs bans and have played brief stints on and off over that time with the last time being about 3 years ago. I think I was grinding ogres on C2.

I'll repeat - you need to choose your online friends more wisely.  Kingpin has a history of what revi called shenanigans and those include macro, distributing macro scripts and clients, scamming, buddying up with people and asking to share their characters then changing the passwords...there's more but you get the drift.

No, I do recall that he asked if I still had any of the gold and items that he gave me when I first started playing but don’t ever recall him asking to use my character.

No, I use the same password for any accounts on a single platform, but different passwords for different games/websites etc.

what evidence is there to support this, what was he allegedly using my character for? I didn’t notice any discrepancy relating to where my character was, or my items or gold.

KP never game me any reason to think he was someone to worry about. Whatever he did, he did without my knowledge.

all I know is he told me get got banned for macro use, got unbanned at the start of 2023 then I found out about his subsequent ban by reading the forums.

 

 

I don’t want to waste your time going back and forwards talking about someone you don’t want in your community. I came here to get some answers for why my characters got banned.

if he accessed my characters that is understandable, maybe I did give him my login details but I have no memory of that and no evidence of it in any of our chat logs that have historical records and for which I apologize.

 

now, is there anything that can be done about me getting access to the game again, or should I just accept my losses and move on?

And you are getting the answers why your characters were banned.  It has everything to do with Kingpin.  If you're "friends" and he has access to your character(s), then that's that. Again, read rules 4 and 8.  Copping an attitude with me isn't going to help you.  Some reassurances on your part, however, just might.

 

Server logs are the evidence and yes I have access to them, which is why my email is the one to contact on the website.  Ozbud logged on to kingpin's IP in Brazil, unless you took an extended vacation there.  His characters Pastor and ze_pequeno also traded with Ozbud with both on that same Brazilian IP.

Thank you for your reply, with the evidence you have provided it is now clear to me that yes, at some point I must have given him my password, likely very early on in my time in EL. basically everything on Ozbud came from KP so I assume I thought there would be no harm giving him the details in case he wanted something back , obviously a judgement error on my behalf and I apologize.

as for rule 8, yes I admit I must have done the wrong thing, as stated above everything I had came from KP except my time spent in game so didn’t see there would have been an issue, obviously I was wrong.

 

Reassurances were always going to be made, however I couldn’t make reassurances previously when it wasn’t exactly clear to me what I had done wrong.

 

i would greatly appreciate getting my IP unbanned so I have the opportunity to play again, and I apologize for all of my previous mistakes. I promise not to break any further rules and as you already know from my logs I don’t interact with anyone else so won’t cause any issues for anyone, I just want to relax after work and take my mind off things.

im also happy to make a donation to the game via the details on the website if I can get the opportunity to play again.

Ozbud was locked recently.  So, either Kingpin kept the pass for several years without using it, or he got the pass fairly recently. 

(Note that there is nothing indicating he got the password illegally.) In both cases, the Ozbud character would be locked, and you

have no right to get it unlocked under rule 8. As far as Ozbud is concerned, that's all there is to it.

 

Now, if he got the pass recently, rule 4 comes into play, and that means there's no reason to give you back any character; or unlock any IP.

Note that your other characters were locked under the assumption Kingpin had gotten another IP (VPN, proxy, ...).

As an aside, in your situation I would not insist on making a donation right now. If I were on the receiving end, I'd feel obliged to refuse such a donation at this point,

and I might decide I don't want further dealings with you (some could interpret a donation in this situation as an attempted bribe).

I understand my word means nothing right now but I honestly don’t even remember giving him my password but the evidence shows that I must have as some point so I have no idea why he waited that long to access Ozbud.

as for access to the Ozbud character, I never once asked for or expected it to be returned to me, simply that I may create a new character as I attempted to do and start over again.

Again I understand my word currently means nothing so it’s just down to if I get given a chance or not to show I can follow the rules moving forward. Looking at the numerous topics here there has been a number of banned and unbanned players given another chance so I was hoping for the same leniency for a first offence, I do understand the whole KP situation does add another layer of complexity that you all don’t want to have to deal with.

fair point as well, I simply wanted to support a passion project that I think is worth supporting, regardless of if I am allowed to return or not which is what I tried adding to the description in my attempted donation, I simply worded it wrong in my last post so I can certainly see how that could have been perceived negatively.

as mentioned, I do not want access to Ozbud back and I do not deserve it either. Plus having been given a lot of gold and items from KP I missed the true experience of playing the game from the beginning with nothing, so am happy to start fresh.

 

i do however want to keep the name Ozbud, if it’s not too much trouble is it possible for you to completely erase all record of that character so I can create a new one with the same name? Or just fully reset it and send it back to IP?

 

also, what is the process for changing a password? as I am not familiar with how it works.

Unfortunately, the command to delete your character has been disabled for most of the game.  The only way to do that is to contact radu (game owner) and ask him to do it.  However, he is on vacation for the rest of the week.  I will unban your IP and you can decide whether you want to create a new character with a different name or wait for radu.  A possible idea for you to consider would be to make a new character with a minor spelling variation.   (If you make a new character now, don't forget to use a different password.)
