Eternal Lands - Hardcore

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about EL and in my opinion 80% of the game is unused, and and alot of people that have a max character or access to a max character. Are on an endless grind for gold coins and doing invasions in hope for some random loot. A weekly WTF, a few ices and thats basically been it for years for most people.

This game has a serious lack of competition, as far as i know there is barely any going around.

My suggestion : Eternal Lands - Hardcore.

Alot of games nowdays as runescape, world of wacraft offer the option to choose for a hardcore mode. A challenging aspect of the game which means once you die your character gets deleted (or your hardcore status is removed). Also you have the option to be self found. This means that all the items you have are aquired though hard work and NPC's . No trading, bag hopping.

Alot of unused zones could be revived, competition could be held to see who gets the furthest without dying. Game mechanics made to be used, could actually be used again.

Now honestly other games are time wise a bit less demanding than EL in the long run so i thought that hardcore EL would mean you get an option to choose for hardcore mode upon character creation. This will flag your character as hardcore and you will have a different color name so people ingame see that you are a hardcore character. Dying will mean you lose your hardcore status and your name will be turned back to regular white. Trading will be available again.

IF you die you will have a server broadcast message saying #PLAYERNAME# died to a Male Goblin in Portland. This person had a total level of 188. ( 188 Meaning all the levels combined )

Obviously i have alot of ideas regarding to the execution of this idea and i believe it could seriously ressurect alot of dead zones, skills and mechanics of this game. And honestly i do not know a single game where this turned out to something negative, and only positive.

All instance caps apart from ice/wtf and possibly 80100 are basically dead. Imagine going onto a dungeon with your friends with the huge stake of dying.  Streaming it, having the messages broadcasted when 5 people wipe and actually die and lose everything. I seriously think people would love this.

It shows after 20 years who actually is skilled, instead of a spender. NO pay to win.

Let me know below what you think about it, i honestly believe it would not be that hard to implement a character upon creation with a status that is not allowed to trade/take bags made by a player.

Not a totally horrible idea but having your char deleted if you die would be a deal breaker for me to even think about the rest.

Yeah thats why i thought in case for eternal-lands you would just lose your Hardcore status. which would mean that your name color would just be reverted back to white and your hardcore journey ended. And then your total level on death would be posted on the rankings page to see what person died with the highest levels.

This is good, here is a better version

  • Standard : your character can't trade, pick up items dropped by other players or receive assistance in combat.
  • Hardcore : If you die you become Standard.
  • Ultimate : You can't use bank and if you die you become Standard.
