New client: Resync with the server...

Recommended Posts

Is that only me who sees a lot of "Resync with the server..." messages from time to time?

I went AFK for a few hours and when i came back, i saw a lot of those messages in a row:

Resync with the server...

With the old client i had that messages every once in a blue moon, but not that much in a row as with the new client now.

This happens nearly every or every 2nd day, or even multiple times per day.

The message is just informational, and similar to the "Skip!." message for sound; it just indicates that the client is not keeping up with actors changes.  This can be because your machine is running a bit slow.  Also, a few releases ago (i.e many years), the client was modified to reduce the frame rate when the window is hidden or minimised.  This reduces the load on your machine when you are not interacting with or viewing client.  That change can increase the times you see the Resync and Skip messages, depending on where you are.  For example in a busy place with lots of actors, you may see more messages.  If you are AFK when this happens, was your client window minimised or hidden?  Were you in a different location than usual, with more activity going on around you?

My preference would be to just remove the messages.

No, i was at my favorite drinking place, when i went AFK, aka the TG tavern.

The client was not minimized or hidden.

I think, i would blame Firefox for that who causes a lot of trouble for me anyways, like comp crashes, frozen computer and reboots.

I might try to use Brave Browser instead of Firefox and see if that reduces the resyncs.

Whether firefox is a problem can depend on the number of pages you have open, the sites you visit,

installed extensions, etc. (too many variables). I routinely have 30-40 tabs open in 3-4 windows, with

no problems whatsoever. But with some sites, the CPU is solicited more than with others. (That's on

Linux, btw)

First thing to do if you suspect Firefox: stop it, or at least reduce the number of open tabs to the

minimum (the EL pages should not cause problems). If that reduces the problems (or makes them

disappear), then you're done, as far as EL is concerned.
