New Computer, White Screen(6 hours into looking into it)

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I hate asking for help but today I think I need to ask for suggestions. I have a new computer to me that I just booted today. It's supposed to be much faster and better in every aspect compared to my 2009-2011ish computer I was using before. The client loads completely white besides the loading bar. When I log in, about 15-25% the client crashes. On the new character screen I see the green grass but no character for half a second before it crashes.

1.9.5p9 is my client

Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz   3.10 GHz
Installed RAM    4.00 GB
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Graphics card: Intel(R) HD Graphics (no numbers associated, was worried about that)

According to Intel's update app I have the latest version. Microsoft also gave me a message that I am updated to the latest version.

The message I get from the EL server is as follows:

I have the shadows bug option deactivated and it does not change it as it talks about that with white screens with multiple reboots of the client and restarts of the computer.

If anybody has time to give me suggestions I would appreciate it so much.

If there is any other data needed I will give it as soon as I can.

Thank you,

Also it might be helpful if you post your error log here.  It would be in your EL folder that has a folder "log" and "main" in it (and the unofficial_custom_clothes.zip file).  You want to open the log folder and copy/paste using the "code" tags the file named main_xxxxxx.log (where the x's are actually some combination of numbers and letters).

I did spend some time trying to download that Mesa3d for windows, I had trouble getting it to run however.  Hopefully this will help.

Thank you all so much for helping me,

Try logging in with Poor Man and see if that gets you anywhere.  You can change the settings on the log-in screen prior to actually logging in.  Also maybe mess around with the other settings in the Troubleshoot tab as well to see if anything helps.

As others have said, it looks like you're missing mesa, the Open GL libraries that should come with your graphics card driver.  You could try reinstalling the graphics driver even if its appears to be up to date.  The client is never going to function without working mesa libraries.

I have reinstalled a handful of times. is there somewhere that I could add the mesa libraries to my driver? or perhaps my system is installing the incorrect driver? This is a built computer, not directly from a manufacturer. I have attempted to download 10-15 drivers from Intel's website that I thought may be correct and it informed me that hardware is not appropriate for it.

Just tested League of Legends and it worked fine, my prior graphics card was too poor to support it. Not sure that makes a difference, but I figure that means the graphics card is capable?

This is a long shot as you should use the library from your graphic card driver... But the build environment I use to build the download packages does contain the OpenGL DLL.  I do not include it in the install package because a suitable version should be on your system already.  You could try placing this version of the DLL into the client data directory along with the client executable and other DLLs, it may work.  If it does not work, remove the file so it does not interfere with your systems version should you actually get that installed.

Thank you everybody for your help,

I purchased a middle-of-the-road plug in graphics card for just like 50 bucks on eBay and EL is running better than I've ever seen it run in the past.  Besides the hardware upgrade I don't think there could of been much done at least on Windows 10.  Once again, thank you all for your time, effort and patience with me.
