The cause: Cancer Research UK and USA In the UK 1 in 3 people will develop some form of cancer in their lifetime. While survival rates are getting better all the time, we still lose too many people to this horrible disease. In the USA, according to the cancer research data – 1 in 4 deaths are due to cancer. Money raised from this raffle will be split equally between Cancer Research UK and the American Cancer Society. The choice to split it came because, while I do not believe one does better work than the other, it gives most players the chance to feel like they are donating close to home. Cancer is something most of us have been, or will be, touched by at some point in our lives. My Mum and my Uncle both made a full recovery, but I do remember the fear and confusion I felt as I was only 16 when my mum was diagnosed. My dad lost his battle with cancer in 2008, just 6 weeks after the diagnosis. As players we have all lost some wonderful and truly amazing people from game, I will not name any as I would hate to miss anyone off the list accidentally, we all know who they are and we still talk about them all the time. And there are players now who are fighting hard, showing us all what true strength is. It is for all these reasons that we made the change of charity this year. The Timeframe: Last day to purchase tickets for the lottery is Saturday August 16th, 12 pm BST. The drawing will be held on Saturday, August 16th at 6PM, BST (find your time zone). The drawing will take place inside the White stone City Palace which can be found in White Stone City [38,731] and will be announced in both local and channel 7. A winners list will be posted in this thread. I know the raffle usually takes place in July, but I will not be able to give it my full attention at this time due to family commitments. The rules: Raffle tickets are $5 US each. To participate: · Send me a forum PM with your real name or transaction code and dollar amount of donation. · This year we are only able to accept ticket purchases via PayPal. But do not worry, you do not have to have a PayPal account to participate, just a debit/credit card and click the button below and follow the instructions. Be sure to include your EL username in the message section. The Drawing: Winners will be selected by lottery. For every $5 a person donates, they will get one "ticket" for the drawing. The drawing will take place using the list randomizer at http://random.org/ with the list being one entry of a ticketholder's name per ticket they hold. Prizes will be awarded in the order they are picked, prize 1 goes to the first draw, prize 2 to the second, etc... If you have won a prize, please contact Guild *PR* or myself to collect. If you'd like to donate ingredients for mixing, we will hold them and make them available to those who would like to mix - if you'd like to mix, feel free to ask us if we have some of the ingredients you need that have been donated by others. WolfWitch Report post Posted July 10, 2014 If there are more prizes than tickets then it is possible to win more than one prize, usually it does not happen though. People that win lots of prizes usually have lots of tickets as like all raffles, once a prize is won the ticket is surrendered. They would all go back into the pot if there were more prizes than tickets, though I honestly do not expect that to happen. It gave place for me to say which country and I marked USA, but further down it said which county and all the counties were UK counties, none for USA and so I ignored it, but when I hit the button it said error, you did not fill out county. I could not fill out county cause was wrong country. So I could not donate. Is there a different form for USA people I missed? I hit donate below the bottom of the site. I did some research and people suggested, after the page loads, to change the URL from https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin... to https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin... do not delete anything after the -bin. yethq Report post Posted July 19, 2014 I switched it to US twice and it switched it back immediately to UK, so not sure how I can switch it so that it does not revert back to UK, I just took the "k" out and added an "s", then selected that from the bottom line (of my browswer) but when It went to load that page it loaded UK. Still could not donate....is there any way you could get a link from paypal for USA donors? Would make it much simpler, and I am willing to keep at it but there might be other donors who are not so patient. And I think this is a very good cause for every one of us, it is for us as well as for those we have lost through cancer, for cancer more and more so is becoming epidemic in out society and we need answers, and we would like them sooner rather than later because too many have died and are dying already, and I speak especially for those who are too young to die, whose lives are cut short by this disease. It is heart breaking. And none of us are immune. Five bucks is very little but if everyone gave five bucks a year, it would be a huge amount. And it is expensive to find the answers we seek.
