Software Patents in Europe going into next round

According to FFII the European Parliament Consumer Committee is trying to reform the standardisation process in Europe, allowing patentable interface specifications which will discriminate Free Software.

In the past, FFII has been an important player in the fight against software patents in europe, so watch out for actions against this approach.
