80's music!

Recommended Posts

So anyway, I was watching this program with this dude and this woman living the 80's for like a week.

To cut the long story short, at that point I am going to seriously start a decent 80's music collection.

Why? Because it rocks! :medieval:

Post any links (LastFM, YouTube etc.) of any songs, bands that you think should be in my collection.

I'm aiming for the cheesy romantic love ballads as well as those synthy-like "rock" tunes. Things like Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Bonnie Tyler, David Bowie, Blondie.

Here's an example of a good 80's tune:

Another example, suggested in #gm

Well Hate to say it, but add some Poison.. Tone loc , run-d-mc and fleetwoodmac

add The cars .some Huey Luis and the news..Dire striats The police, Cory Hart ,

I could go on and on

80's music was not the best...but everything after 1995 sucks!!!!!!

One recent example is Black eye peas Boom Boom gag!

You know your getting old, when all your favorites are played on the AM band..and utube has no examples

Fuck it, rat tails, back patches and AMC Hornets ftw!

I love 80's music so I'm really interested to see how your thread develops. :)

Here are my two selections for your preferred categories.

Kix - Don't Close Your Eyes

INXS - The One Thing

...and 2 more that probably aren't what you're looking for. ;)

The late Stevie Ray Vaughan ignited electric blues in the 80s and it's a real bitch that he died too damn early. He was absolutely amazing - especially if you dig the whole 80s guitar influence.

SRV - Lenny

Also, here's 1 more from Kix - I think it was my fave tune of theirs back in the day:

Kix - Girl Money

New romantics - FTW!

Human Leage / Duran Duran / ABC etc.

An easy way to get a collection - buy a few compilation albums - and then by albums of the artists you like!

P.S. In the summer there are some UK based concerts - featuring the 80s music..

OK, I wont say that i like the music that I link (quite some good music above though, Pixies  ) but we're talking 80's so I must link what Yani linked yday.

Laura Branigan - Self Control

Some other songs that should fit the bill and some that wont, mostly hits (hard to find those that weren't singles on youtube :/), I was young in the 80's so I don't remeber more obscure music (if I havn't found it afterwards due to liking it) Some dates might be off but they should be more or less correct:

Nena - 99 Luftballons (83-84 or so) (omg ppl how could you forget :)) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9whehyybLqU

99 red ballons -

(for those that prefear english)

WHAM! (do i really need a link?)

52 - Love Shack (1989)

Depeche Mode (have to be on the list somewhere)

Beds Are Burning (-87) -

The Power & The Passion (-83)

Can't forget

Pointer Sister - I'm So Excited (early 80's)

prob. not what you're looking for but...

Automatic - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_86SgNhDgwA (early 80's, youtube links says 83)
