I cant log on EL

I had to get a new computer (used from a friend) and when I try to log on I get the "Do you want to send an error reprt" message!!! I have windows XP professional and I have tried turning the firewall off and except all cookies etc... I am veeeeeeery comp illiterate so whoever responds please be very simple and clear on what I should try... I have the service pack 3, I have java, I have Internet Explorer and msn explorer. I have 60 GB of memory dunno the graphics card dunno pretty much anything else... Please help me cause I am going through a divorce and I need EL as support The withdrawl is killing me BTW I read this post and (I do see the players online I can't connect to the server

See if you can view the "players online" page on the main web site:

http://game.eternal-lands.com/online_players.htm

If you can view that page, but can't connect to the server in the game, then you have a problem with your firewall settings. Ways to configure firewalls vary greatly, but you need to allow connections through port 2000.

If you cannot view that page, then there is a problem with your ISP preventing you from connecting. Try again later, or complain to your ISP.

Do you have an Anti-Virus program running in the background? That could be the problem (Stopping EL from connecting.)

The problem isn't your internet connection but your hardware/drivers since the EL client crashes (Send Error Report window).

 

Before logging in, open the options window (ctrl + o) and uncheck all options in the 'Details' and 'Adv Video' Tabs and enable 'Poor Man'.

If that works you can try to enable some options you might need, step by step, and see which one causes the crash.

Oh, and also disable the Sky/Sun/Moon/Stars/Clouds effects in the 'Sky&Cam' Tab.

I have symantec antivirus and here is the error log I found in one of the el folders . Log started at 2008-06-02 09:39:30 localtime (Central Daylight Time)

Try reinstalling EL and use all the default install directories.

You start the EL installer and just click "O.K." and dont change any settings.

Gampa if your trying to help him you might want to post more simple suggestion, or step by step guiding on how to post system specs and get video card drivers..

Ok try this. Download the game from the EL website.

 

If you have it downloaded already, don't bother doing it again.

 

Then:

 

Start > Programs > Eternal Lands > Uninstall

 

Then:

 

Find where you saved the EL.exe (The downloaded program.) and install it. But just keep clicking yes to everything, and don't change any settings.

 

If that dosn't work, you might want to try and update your graphics drivers.. To do that, do this:

 

Right Click on your Desktop > Properties (Here something should come up with changing your Wallpaper n stuff.) > Then click on the tab on the far right. (Should then show what monitor your using and what graphics card.)

 

Post what it says on here, and I'll tell you what drivers to go for.

He's got SiS 6326 AGP graphic card with 4Mb of memory

Thats probs why then, SiS dosn't work well with EL, iirc.

Thanks for all the help!!! I still cant log on but me and dush did some research and i found out that this comp doesnt even hasve a graphics card LOL!!! I got it from an IT friend who used it only for a security camera... I will go get a new sound video and more memeory soon hope to see you all in EL sooooon!!!!! I miss the players a ton and especially my guildies I get alot of support from people in the game and of course from my guildies
