Scratch Report post Posted June 1, 2007 (edited) I get tired of seeing people say "I am bored" over the channels. I suggest logging out & go read a book but they persist. So I am suggesting 2 new text commands to keep people from getting so bored. if any of the following are typed in @i am bored @i m bored @im bored @i'm bored it will be the same as typing #exit if any of the following are typed in @i am so bored @i m so bored @im so bored @i'm so bored it will be the same as typing #kill_me except without the warning EDIT: to clarify that this is a serious suggestion no matter how many humors comments get attached to it. The need for this would come from the fact that if this is all they can think of doing, then they are a waste of bandwidth & tying up server resources. Aislinn Report post Posted June 1, 2007 Good idea! I think we should expand it to include people who say @I hate this game @this game sux @<fill in the blank game> is better!

Guest baneazaghal Report post Posted June 1, 2007 (edited) Perhaps this should only work on official channels (if ever added to the game)? EDIT: I'm against the teleport/killme idea. People have every right to be bored, and not get killed in the process Edited June 1, 2007 by baneazaghal

Guest NightWyrm Report post Posted June 1, 2007 Funny idea, the fact is though, as stated above, free teleport. I say that they are teleported into the dragons cavern. They won't survive long in there unless you have 10 people say it at the same time

Alia Report post Posted June 1, 2007 Good idea! I think we should expand it to include people who say @I hate this game @this game sux @<fill in the blank game> is better! Are you serious? Do you think we need to add to the client context and sematic analizers? What about phrases like: I like this update, now EL is better! Sure, we can exclude "EL is better" from the match, then what about: I've played <game name> a bit yesterday and now I hate this game. Of course some people will use 'that' instead of 'this', but if in the context no other game is mentioned, then 'this' refers to <game name> not EL usually. Now about all this thread and some others in suggestions forum: what's the sense of making such suggestions? Most likely person who made it knew it was not possible to implement it (at least in the nearest future). It seems to me it would be reasonable to make forum section like "Off topic -> senseless, useless ideas of people who are annoyed with something in the game" So people could post it there and not spam in suggestions section. darkguy Report post Posted June 1, 2007 Fuk u instant teleport to the middle of Hulda? lol, strong players will use that as a great opportunity... think of a group of people saying fuk u at the same time on purpose, They will beam to the dragon and then group fight it. or else lets say 2 high level players want to meet at a close map to hulda... Example: Player1:lets go to _______ Player2:ok good idea...we will train there. Player1:I'll use teleport rings to get there. Player2:Why bother using them? just type "fuk you" and then get out of hulda and you are there... Player1:Ohh! Thanks for reminding that man..almost forgot it.. I'll even get to slay a few of those monsters since I have a free and fast ticket to hulda. Playe2:np

Lexi Report post Posted June 1, 2007 Good idea, but the teleportion idea could be misused, like others have pointed out. Even to the underworld, it could be used as a free shortcut from say Glacmor to Irsis. The #exit would most likely be the best solution

It seems to me it would be reasonable to make forum section like "Off topic -> senseless, useless ideas of people who are annoyed with something in the game" So people could post it there and not spam in suggestions section. I was actually being dead serious. I was not suggesting something useless to be senseless. Many serious suggestions do get some humor injected into them. Beaverhunter Report post Posted June 2, 2007 How can it be that when suggestions are poor ideas of the completely pointless kind, they remain active and don't get locked... but if someone suggests something even remotely close to a previous suggestion or anything that requires some actual work or suggest something that is a really serious and has been thought through properly... it gets locked or deleted right away. This idea is a complete joke and it won't happen... (and yes I know it's not for me to decide, but netier is it for any of you). Please start working on some real ideas instead=S
Sayre Report post Posted June 2, 2007 Why is it when I see someone whining in forums it is usually someone with both beaver and hunter in their name? I like this idea, its fun. Again you seem to be against the idea of anything fun being injected into the game. Just breathe, and everything will be ok. S.
Aislinn Report post Posted June 2, 2007 I have a suspicion if you actually were in the help channels or local and listened to people, even the general chat channels, (rather than lecture AT them about what is important and what is not), you would see the validity of this suggestion. Also as a side note, you might want to take a peek again at who posted here before you make the claim that nobody *here* can decide on this
Beaverhunter Report post Posted June 2, 2007 (edited) I only "whine" when there is a proper reason to do so. I want EL to become a better game, this idea would help with that how? Exactly, not at all I would say. I'm also constantly on Newbie, Gen and Market channel. Helping, discussing and sometimes answering pc requests (less often lately since ppl pay scam prices anyway). So I do "listen" and observe peoples opinion/behaviour, but sometimes you have to go beyond what seems to be a "fun" idea and get a wider view and see it from the whole community perspective and look how EL can stay as a proper game and become better. So I would rather say it's you have should start to listen to people and do some research, in my opinion, because I allready do so. And sure we can add drug effects, punishment for swearing or talking bad about EL, farts, barfs, consuming of alchohol, "teenage language" (SwORdZ, WEApz...), disco, tv and just add "for fun"-effects that has nothing to do with the actual gameplay/roleplay... All this like you guys seem to want and support... But... then... does EL really become something more than just a teenage chatroom?.. even games have to have some consistency, proper language and logic in them, just because some people lack these things, the whole game shouldn't have to suffer and in the end maybe be gone or classified as something completely non-serious. As I have understood Ent and Roja make kind of a living out of the project of EL, or at least spend alot of time on it and considering it pretty much like a full time job. So maybe it's time for you guys to realise that this is serious and nothing you can just do what ever you want with and test any random experimental ideas. Use the brain and do something good to improve EL and other things instead, please. In short: I "whine"/write/speak only when there's a reason for it. Please grow up and get serious about things, even if it's a game. Edited June 2, 2007 by Beaverhunter
Aislinn Report post Posted June 3, 2007 The suggestion forum is just that, for suggestions by the players. Big ones, little ones, stupid ones, incredibly stupid ones (deleted), ones that can't be done, ones that can be done, complicated ones, easy ones... Most people who post here have no idea what is possible or not, or what the creators/devs have in mind for the game, present or future. As has been said countless times, most things mentioned here won't be incorporated. A few will, and even of those few...most likely they will be adapted. Please read the pinned topic in this section, it is clearly explained. Yes of course serious and important game features will be considered. Also fun features will be. This forum does not distinguish between the two. Just because a super serious game altering suggestion is rejected, doesn't mean we won't put in anything fun or don't want to hear fun ideas too. One does not exclude the other. If something is rejected or put on the back burner, odds are it is not because of something fun is coming in it's place , but rather because somebody who's opinion matters has decided it is not possible, a waste of time/effort for the gain gotten, or not where they wanted the game to go. Also AGAIN please remember...what is important for one person is another person's waste of time/space/effort. You do not have the right to decide that for everyone. As a side note, I personally just do not see how adding more counters changes gameplay for better or worse, or at all. It is no more or less needed than removing the "i'm bored" comments. Just a matter of what one considers "fun". I find it fun to not have people complaining. You find it fun to look at numbers of what you already did. Neither suggestion changes what we did or how we did it.
Beaverhunter Report post Posted June 3, 2007 It's obviously pointless posting since you seem to miss my points completely every single time or at least never acknowledges when my points are true..., while supporting barely serious suggestions rather than the more thought through ones... so this is the last post in this thread... Those are not even remotely comparable examples in similarity... "I'm bored" censoring/triggering would be a completely new feature that would add _confusion_ to people not aware of this, and also it wouldn't add anything to make people less bored... I mean do you seriously suggest that it's a good idea to "kick" people from the game as soon as they find it abit boring for the moment?.. Now that's a solution to all problems, eh? You are merely hiding the problem or pushing it ahead on the timeschedule rather than fixing anything at all. The counter thing on the other hand only enhances gameplay as those who are interested in numbers and keeping a history of their characters progress can do so, even better/easier, while at the same time not ruining or confusing any other part of the gameplay. Everything goes on as "normal" but with improvements, at not that much work/cost coding/time-wise. while (PointNotSeen == true) { ReadAgain(); }
