Encyclopedia Modifications

Recommended Posts

I thought it best to start a new topic about the 'Monster and Animals' (now called 'Creatures') section of the Encyclopedia.

Does the current Encyc cover all of the information for creatures that can be summoned in EL? For example there are now four types of bear, is the Black bear the only one that can be summoned or can the Grizzly be summoned as well?

As I've worked my way through the file I really could do with some info from the high level summoners out there.

When you summon a Bear, is it a Black bear or a Grizzly?

When you summon a Chimera, what type is it?

Personally, I would prefer the summoning info to be it's own section. Is that possible? As long as we're redoing it anyway...

I like it where it is, mainly because I can check if a monster can be summoned without checking a whole list of entries for it. And, it means we only need one page per monster, instead of two. Finally, apropos summoning info, it doesn't seem to me that there is enough to fill a page.

Well i was thinking 1 page for all the summoning info, not one page per creature...

Kind of like the page elrocks had (not there anymore) with each animal listed in order and had how many nexii were needed and what ingredients, and what books...one line per animal, in chart form basically. To me, that is much more helpful and convenient to have all summoning info available on one page.

But it's just a suggestion, this is your baby and if it's too much of a problem to do, it's not a problem.

If we had the new format, I'd be all over it. But charts really tend to screw with the current format, and require constant balancing with whitespace... let's just say, if anyone really wants to do it, and add some more detail to the Creature pages, go right ahead. Just don't break anything. :P

Rats. I knew someone suggested all the summoning info grouped together so I've just done that... I wanted to come and get approval before the commit however and found the thread. I wish I'd checked earlier! Oh well.

I'll have a play with developing a table and putting it all on one page, but I suspect that the encyc window isn't going to be helpful in that regard (too small). Anyway, I'll play and see what I can come up with.

Hi everybody, never wrote anything here, but was watching it closely. I retrieved the latest cvs today and I agree with Aislinn, in this cases it is hard to tell wether it is or not better until you see the result, but I find this table much more convenient for summoners that surfing thru all the creatures to find the info. Just my opinion, of course. Well, this is just more work for translators :P *opens kate and kxmledit again*

- Cheers, people :P
