New website!

Recommended Posts

http://eternal-lands.com/

If you haven't seen it yet, go take a look!

Special thanks to Ghrae for doing all the coding on it!! Also thanks to Aislinn, Derin, and Soldus for helping with content updating and to all who tested it. If anyone finds errors we missed on the site you may post them in this thread.

Please also note we are aware of the following things that need to be fixed(so do not post about them):

-Items pages are incomplete

-No dwarves picture yet

-Not all animals/monsters are pictured

-Music download link will be up shortly

-player's online/top 50 page has old colors

-guild page has the font smaller than normal

Is the word Dwarves supposed to be tan?

Yes because there is no link there yet. If you notice, the other race names go to a picture when you click on them.

Nice look, a bit easier on the eyes than the old, IMO.

A couple grammatical errors I've found on the Playable Characters page:

The humans take whatever they could and use it to their advantage. Although they also show compassion, kindness, and generousity when the times are right.

1.) "The humans take whatever they can..."

2.) either "...advantage, although..." or "...advantage. They also..."

They are also pretty good craftsmen, and tailors of clothing. Another skill of their's is map making, although you can never trust a Gnome's map to be 100% accurate all the time.

1.) "...craftsmen, and tailors of clothing." Is the comma necessary? Also, "of clothing" might be redundant.

2.) "Another skill of theirs is..."

Draegoni are what look to be a cross between a human and a dragon, yet much more human than dragon like.

Shouldn't that be dragonlike?

Many of them are fights to the death, which the other races see them as being barbaric. They are also very honorable however, always keeping their word when they took an oath, even if it means their life is at stake.

1.) "...which the other races see them as being barbaric."

2.)"...when they take an oath..."

Cause there are lots of spammy bots surfing the net and searching for those kind of patterns, like "anything@anything.anything" which are easily identifiable. When a spam bot finds one of this it includes that into a maling list, so then they can send you loads of spam.

By doing "anything at anithing dot anything" the thing is harder for those spam bots.

hehe, we just had a discussion on this. No the comma is NOT necessary, but it is not wrong either. And I like the old grammar rules better so ha! Comma stays :P

ok, well, that's why I italicized, it was merely a suggestion.

Hmmm, the new site doesn't seem to work properly on Firefox, you might wanna either fix that or put a note down...

It looks fine to me under Firefox 1.5 (linux) unless you are referring to a particular part?

The developers page isn't JUST current developers(obviously). It is a list of all who contributed to the game.(yes I know we're probably missing people-that's not intentional so if you know someone who's missing please just pm me :))

Sorry I thought the first letter of people's names should be capitalized. :P

Could this be a cache issue? Perhaps clear the cachce so it is forcing FireFox to load all new graphics / content.

But both Roja & I are FireFox users and the site was built / tested in FireFox 80% of the time.

It's a FireFox setting... Roja had that problem at one time... let's hope she reads then and lets you know how it was fixed.

yes, I know. but some of the people on that list are still active devs, and some aren't the list of mods is split by current/past, so I'd suggest doing similar to the lists of devs (the reasons are probably about the same as well)

Sorry I thought the first letter of people's names should be capitalized. ;)

usually that's the case :P (although even my RP name doesn't start with a capital... t'Lan Ithil)

Help with programming and moderating are different issues, hence they look different.

So we let it rest ok.

We can fix your name.

About the current/past issue:

Mods are split because players go to that page to contact us, obviously by necessity we have distinguished between current and past mods.

As far as mapmaking, client contributions, people who have written code...these things are still in use and the page gives credit to all who have contributed. This was discussed and we considered both ways and ultimately this was the decision reached since the goal is to give credit where credit is due and all of this stuff IS currently used ingame. There is not the same need of "contacting" devs or storywriters as there is for mods, so it really should not be an issue. We have forum sections for all of this stuff which is handled by the current devs/storywriter/quest heads so it isn't too hard to figure out who is currently active or not.

And ultimately the final decision is Roja's...and she made it.
