Algorn Report post Posted January 26, 2006 Guild LNX proudly presents their latest greatest assisstant to the EL community. Her name is TrinityBot and you can pm her for Price Checks on just about any common market item availble in Eternal Lands. How does it work? Easy! Just like this: /trinitybot pc $item_name for example if you want to check the cost raw meat sells for then you would PM Trinity like so: /trinitybot pc raw meat and Trinity will be glad to let you know the price for raw meat in market. Her prices are based on market averages for most items and there are currently active market members who are responsible for keeping her prices up to date so you can be sure that a price is current. Disclaimer: Trinity is still under some development at this time and those responsible for entering the prices in her database have not had the opportunity to price all items, but we believe that most of the most frequently requested prices are available and as current and correct as possible. should you feel an item is incorrectly priced you may pm me ingame and let me know. If you want to give your compliments and props to someone for the service Trinity provides, you may PM Torg at anytime he is on and say: "hey mate, that's an awesome bot you got there!" also if you may have any suggestions for trinity's services you can suggest those to Torg as well. if you have any problems, you can always PM Trinity with the standard /trinitybot help. if i posted this in the wrong thread, please feel free to move it to the correct thread and chastise me publically. TrinityBot, your Price Check Consultant.

bkc56 Report post Posted January 26, 2006 also if you may have any suggestions for trinity's services you can suggest those to Torg as well. I have just one suggestion. Even if a pc requests string matches multiple items, the bot should give me the prices for them. It could be limited to something like the first 10 items or something (although I don't think it really needs any limit). But I'd like to be able to see all essence or all potion, or all types off bars at once without needing to ask multiple times. Great Bot idea. Thanks. Atlantis Report post Posted January 26, 2006 Seems like a great bot, but a little unclear...is it getting the prices from a stored list or is it avereging the market prices? It should probably watch the market, and be able to understand if someone says Selling Health Essences for 7gc, for example, then averege that into its database. Of course, it would have to only take one peice of data from each person, or someone could jack up its prices, and ignore complete outliers, ex 100 gc instead of 10 gc

Of course, it would have to only take one peice of data from each person, or someone could jack up its prices, and ignore complete outliers, ex 100 gc instead of 10 gc the prices are entered manually and stored in a database. as prices in market fluctuate, those responsible for maintaining her database of prices will update her accordingly. this process is restricted to only a few authorised players who take an active role in the market channel. we did consider having her poll other bots and monitor the market as well, but as you said, that would have been open to exploitation by some who may not be so, umm, trustworthy so to speak, so we decided that manual administration was the best option. those who have been chosen for said task were considered for their fairness in market channel trading/selling and their overall display of trustworthiness. disclosure: yes, i am one of those people. no i didn't ask for the privilege, her creator gave me that privilege and i do not wish to abuse it. that being said, please note that there may be incorrect information in her prices and i would very much appreciate any corrections. Algorn Report post Posted January 26, 2006 sry but i see one problem the prices are made by people who sell them often and prices very often No, i am not dis'in your bot or w/e but i'm just saying It's a good idea though you are indeed correct that most market prices are set by those who sell those goods the most often. This is a result of a free market economy. A player may sell his/her goods at any price they wish, however, most items will only sell at what the market will bear(for ex: the maximum price point for wolf furs is 9-10gc. this is what buyers are willing to pay, and what sellers are willing to accept.) this is how the majority of the player economy is governed. those of us responsible for keeping the prices in the database as current and correct as possible are constantly watching the market and taking note of what items sell at what price. thusly, trinity's prices are a reflection of what people in the market are willing to buy and sell at, not what we decide they should be. for any of us to try and use Trinity to manipulate the market would reflect in the most undesirable way upon ourselves and upon guilds from which we are a part. i certainly don't want this tarnish upon my character and i am quite certain that those who share the resonsibility do not wish a tarnish upon themselves. granted, all you have is my word, but i can assure you i will do my utmost best to make sure trinity reflects fairly the market conditions in Eternal Lands. Torg Report post Posted January 27, 2006 Hi guys, I just want to make myself known and add a couple of points regarding Trinity. Feel free to PM me in-game if you have questions or are having trouble. Firstly, the list of aliases for items is a little thin (ok, a lot thin) so alot of the shortening's poeple are used to won't work. We are working on adding those atm, but if something you try doesn't work and you think it should, please let me know so I can add it to the list of aliases! Alot of the prices for her were actually added by making a request to the market with a normal "pc" call. That combined with the fact that the people adding her prices are often the ones answering "pc" calls in the market, we hope she'll reflect actual prices. If not, let us know and we'll update her. I am currently in the process of rewriting her searching algorithm as I've been monitoring how people ask for items and there is a large number of false negatives. She has 398 items in her database so that shouldn't happen. Be careful with spelling. Being a bot, she is exact. If in doubt use part of the word (she does try to match on part words also). Another thing I am working on is returning multiple prices. I have been thinking the first 5 or 10, but I am thinking this will be a seperate command at this stage so as not to flood you with replies you don't want. Again, if you have any suggestions please let us know. We might not get to them straight away as there is already a fairly long list of things to do, but I do want to know about them. Mr.Mind Report post Posted January 27, 2006 I suppose my price list sheet is not necessary anymore? However, it has bot prices included.
Gunslingers Report post Posted January 27, 2006 Mine too.. but, it cant do any harm to have a few different versions.. the prices should be roughly the same, and ours can be read/stored offline. Still, great idea to implement it into a bot though, nice work
Torg Report post Posted January 27, 2006 Sorry guys, I certainly didn't want to diminish your hard work. I really appreciated having them there. I've been checking the RICH guild one for a while now and had even considered talking to you about using it as the backend for Trinity. Thanks alot guys!
