quick spells in 1.1.2 client

Using the 1.1.2 client compiled from CVS just after the 1.1.2 server restart.

 

I have been using the 1.1.2 client's quick spell feature. I have found that sometimes the topmost quick spell icon becomes inactive. The mouseover still works but clicking on it does nothing - no message about the spell casting either successful or failure. In the case that I'm looking at now, I have 3 spells in the quick list: shield, remote heal, and heal. Clicking on the shield spell picture does nothing. I just tried closing and restarting the client and it still doesn't work . . . Also right-clicking to attempt to remove that spell from the quick list does nothing.

Both I and andy_c has the same problem. It started when we tried to remove the spell restoration and it was highest up for both of us too.

I've just become the 'latest-victim' of this...

I accidently removed Magic Immunity. But it doesn't work when I re-add it from the spells.

Later, I removed ALL the spells from quick-bar and the same icon remains...then I added the spells on again - pushing the magic immunity icon to the bottom. But it still doesn't work! Grrr

sometimes entries there can get broken... hopefully this will be fixed soon

in the mean time, the worst-case fix is to delete spells_<char_name>.dat from either your EL dir (on windows) or probably ~/.elc/ on other OSes

this will wipe your spells quickbar... the broken one will be gone, but so will the working ones

Note:

You have to be logged off from game (you need to have your client closed) when doing it, other case it will NOT help you at all.

What I did - I had cast Restoration from a quickspell button. At some point after, I right-clicked (meaning the spell went bye-bye from the bar). Anyway, I clicked the Restoration Quickspell icon in the spell window, and didn't have the sigils selected.

 

Result - I had a "Resstoration" spell icon that I couldn't use (empty spell), couldn't delete, and couldn't add a working "Restoration" spell either.

 

Only thing that fixed it for me was log out, delete spells_<name>.dat, and start over.

Exact same thing happened to me, except it happened while fighting valkrie lol

I thought it was bad enough doing that fighting orcs... that COULD be a problem.
