Another Bug

Recommended Posts

Ok, this bug happened to me in Nordcarn - not exactly sure what type of bug, and looked at a few other threads, see if anyone else posted - didn't find anything.

Anyway, I was at the fruitstand in Nordcarn, and had a full load of fruit - so I decide to walk to the storage. I hit the map, and clicked near the brown dot. Anyway, I had been AFK a short time, and scrolled up in console screen to read some messages people left.

When I went back to normal, all I saw was the ground - no rocks, no storage building, no city walls, no me... nothing.

Other details - AMD Athlon XP 2000+ processor, nVidia Geforce2 MX 64MB video, 512MB RAM, using WinXP Pro SP2, and using Entropy's CVS-Patched exe as listed here: http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18099

Any other information I can provide, as well as the error log, just ask.

Read the page that you linked to and you will find that other people have the same problem. Try turning on shadow mapping and see if that fixes it, it did for me.

Ok, only one problem - I can't use shadow mapping - my card's too old.

EDIT: Strange, turning on shadow mapping helped - thought it wouldn't work because the game always turns it off automaticly on logon. Anyway, this is what I saw now, with shadow mapping.

this can happen when you walk on a tile that doesnt have a height map assigned correctly, Can you identify the point were you droped out into nothing?

*edit, btw sitting and standing up normally fixes it.

The missing objects has been corrected in CVS earlier today prior to Entropy releasing the next client for testing. A bug got into the shadows switch OpenGL to the wrong mod and left it there.

Shadow Mapping is know to cause problems.

Zep - I was in console, so I couldn't tell you where it was, if it was (which, from Learner's comments, I doubt it was). Also, sitting/standing did nothing, walking did nothing, all I had to try that could help anything did nothing - except shadow mapping, which I didn't think would work at all with my Geforce2 card.

Learner - yeah, appears fixed to me now - I don't have shadow mapping on, and I can play normally again, after the patched el.exe Entropy posted earlier today. As for shadow maps, if anyone thinks of a way to fix them, more power to them.
