Game Screen

Recommended Posts

When I start EL, the game is full screen. I don't want it to be full screen, but it won't let me change it...

Any reason why?

It didn't use to be full screen before..

go to your ELConfig file, click on the video tab, the box labeled "full screen" might be checked for some reason

also, you'll have to log in before you can change your window size in-game

Okay..I changed it to a lower size, still didn't work.

And the check box for Full Screen wasn't checked.

When I try to turn it off in-game, it doesn't work either.

press alt-x to close it in-game, also alt-tab to just minimize it (if you have no other windows open, if you have other windows open, it changes priority to the next window)

are you absolutely sure that you dont have a fullscreen box checked? press alt-o in game and make sure the box by full screen is not red, and if it is, click it

It's checked in-game, but not in the config.

When I try to uncheck it in-game, it doesn't work.

It would show my windows at the bottom, then go back to full screen.

I can't change the screen size ingame either...

hmm, i'll try...is a box filled in with red under fullscreen? because your computer will need to have another option to go to when it goes out of fullscreen

lol nvm, just pay attention to derin, he's smarter than me :lol:

If the elconfig.exe doesn't work for you, you might wanna do this:

You can edit your settings in the el.ini file located in your Eternal Lands folder.

video modes:

1 = 640x480 16bpp

2 = 640x480 32bpp

3 = 800x600 16bpp

4 = 800x600 32bpp

5 = 1024x768 16bpp

6 = 1024x768 32bpp

7 = 1152x864 16bpp

8 = 1152x864 32bpp

9 = 1280x1024 16bpp

10 = 1280x1024 32bpp

full screen can be 0 (windowed) or 1 (full screen)

if it is windowed, it will use the desktop BPP

#video_mode = <your choice 1-10>

#full_screen = 0

In el.ini, are #video_mode and #full_screen on the same line or seperate lines or the way you posted them? IIRC they should be on different lines and that might be the problem.

No, it's on the same line with this weird characater seperating them...

Probably your video card. Either it's onboard and doesn't have this stencil buffer thing, or might not have latest drivers. Try updating drivers first.

IF they are on the same line then it's most likely the problem. Each option in el.ini need to start on a separate line, and to be active need to start with a '#' sign.

So just put a return after the #video_mode = 1 setting and it should work, both with ELConfig, as well as with the EL client.

In notepad, instead of going to a new line it puts some black square. The program still recognizes that there is a new line. If Cloudie has a black square in between them or if they are on different lines then that shouldn't be the problem.

(Another reason why I notepad ;))

How/where can I update it?

Go to the homepage of your graphics card manufacturer.

There is usually a heading like support/download drivers etc

To find out which graphic card you have:

On Windows: Right click on desktop --> Display properties --> Device

Most likely you will find the drivers at:

www.nvidia.com

www.ati.com

You mean what it says under Display in the Settings tab?

Default Monitor on NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420

Okay...I installed it...But don't think it helped at all..

Ok this is what I did:

Control Panel

System

Hardware

Device Manager

Display Adapters...double click on this and it tells you what your video card is.

Double click on that, and that gives you

Properties

Click on the Driver tab and that should give you the option to "update driver"

Click on that, it takes a few minutes, then restart your computer.
