Alchemy Medallion

Recommended Posts

I find it somewhat disappointing that all the medallions are just for combat. It's also disappointing that there is no way to positively effect your alchemy effectiveness other than attributes and XP- no cloaks, no rings, no potions, no spells.

I'd love to see a 'Will medallion', maybe called the Griffin Medallion, that would be a +3 on will. If having a medallion increase a basic attribute is against your plans, then you could at least throw together a 'Will potion', similar to the summoning potion.

Just my thoughts...

There.. is a will potion. Combine it with a reasoning potion for a +5 experience bonus..

Potion of Reasoning
Items needed: 1 Empty Vial, 3 Bones Powders, 1 Vegetables
Items required to have: Mortar & Pestle
Required Nexuses: Vegetal: 1
Recommended Skills: Potion: 4
Base cost: 30 gold coins

Increases reasoning by 5.  Decreases by 1 every minute afterwards.

Potion of Will
Items needed: 1 Empty Vial, 3 Bones Powders, 2 Silver Ore, 1 Yellow Rose
Items required to have: Mortar & Pestle
Knowledge needed: Potion of Will
Required Nexuses: Vegetal: 3
Recommended Skills: Potion: 14
Base cost: 24 gold coins

Increases will by 5.  Decreases by 1 every minute afterwards.

Both together will give you a +5 rationality which adds directly to experience.

Except that people rarely alch only for one minute. The potions lose effectivness fairly quickly (1 point per minute iirc).

I think the idea behind the medallion was something more permanent.

I'd like for one of these medallions to be available, but only if they were subject to breaking during any alchemy-like activity (like, let's say a 20% chance per each "lost ingredient" fail).

I think the breakability is a great idea, but I think that the 20% is way too high. I probably loose the ingredients 5 times on an average alchemy session, so I'd need a new medallion every time, on average!

I think more like 3% per lost ingredients....

I like the idea  I can see that it would also need to be subject to a breaking chance, same as all other items.

I'm all in favour of more items for crafting, particularly those that can be made at the lower levels of crafting. it was suggested in a previous thread that bone charms could be a good idea:
