After downloading ebuild from bugs.gentoo.org Switch to root user 1: Make sure you have a PORT_DIR_OVERLAY defined in /etc/make.conf (i have it as /usr/local/portage 2: mkdir /usr/local/portage/games-rpg (if is does not exist) 3: mkdir /usr/local/portage/games-rpg/eternal-lands 4: cp eternal*.ebuild /usr/local/portage/games-rpg/eternal-lands 5: cd /usr/local/portage/games-rpg/eternal-lands 6: ebuild eternal-lands-1.1.0-r1.ebuild digest 7: emerge -av eternal-lands

Do you have a Norton Firewall product installed? If so, try disabling it for 5-10 minutes while you are experiencing this problem to see if that is teh issue. If you can connect again almost immediately, that may be the problem. IF so, search on this forum for norton. There is another thread talking about it.

I just went in and added the IP address for EL to the exceptions list and can play fine now. Stupid Norton...

Not sure what the problem was. I have a/d of like 26/24. I put on my steel armor, shield, helm, and cuisses, snatched my tit short sword (that is the best I have), grabbed a load of HEs and went out expecting cyclopses. Managed to kill my very first Troll (barely). Don't whine about vaguery. Stay near the ship/buildings if you do not know what to expect. Duh! BTW: I only got a lousy 4gc from the Troll.

Your error implies that you do not have opengl set up properly. What does the following command return?: glxinfo Also, what graphics card do you have on the system?

Yeah, I have the Radeon 7500 mobility (M7) as well. Works fine under WinXP, but i do not like having to reboot my laptop. Must be a driver issue. *sigh*

Similarly, my summoning and magic are correct, much to my dislike because it was nice to have a higher magic level. Oh well.

I am not showing up either. I think it may be related to my video card (Laptop with Radeon 7500 so I cannot upgrade it)

you should edit the el.ini file anyway. it has the browser set as if you were on windows. the server address seems to be wrong too. it is set to: eternal-lands.network-studio.com

I should mention that I am using gentoo linux ebuild just in case that has anything to do with it.

I think this issue is the same as this post http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=16853 I am experiencing it also (an I included screenshots in my post there). I received the message "advanced to level 9" for my magic, but the stats shows lvl 16. The error is not just in the client reporting because I can cast lvl 12 spells, whereas I should only be able to do 9. Summoning is messed up for me as well.

Of course it is not going to help. I am married and have no reason to hit on the ladies. That is why tianna and I came up with it. We were laughing at people like you.

Seeing it here still. Stats shows magic to be 7/7 [100/140]. When I select magic to be displayed in the green bar, it extends left to cover my "Load" bar completely. And it says 1370.
